Announcing the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7

It is with great pleasure that today I can announce the title sponsor of the Crossfire Challenge 7, Intel. Intel has long been the biggest supporter of eSports and it brings great pride that they have chosen to back Crossfire and its community. Intel's support of CIC7 enhances our ability to continue delivering top notch events with stronger prizes, more tournaments and a better playing environment.

For the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 you can look forward to Enemy Teritory 5vs5 in all of its glory and to support the transition over to 5vs5 for ET, we will be running the Intel 1 night cups on every Sunday throughout December up until Christmas. Intel will also be supporting the Quakelive Community Challenge with a Quakelive duelling competition at CC7 with the winner taking home a brand new Intel Core i7 processor. We’ll also be adding an Intel supported new game to our title list for the event which will be announced nearer the time.

For Wolfenstein fans we will not be following through with this tournament due to lack of an active competitive community. With regards to Modern Warfare we’re currently delaying our decision on what to do with the game due to its competitive difficulties, we will confirm the full additional game titles for CIC7 by Christmas.

I hope you find this news as exciting as I do as it brings about a bright future for the Crossfire Challenge series!

ET was supposed to be 5on5 because of wolfenstein but wolfenstein failed so why can't we just stick to 6on6? Teams playing together for some months/year have to kick 1 player.. Just stay 6on6 :)

Same here. The 5v5 format seems to work great at Portuguese lans (since most of teams are mixs), but for a stable clan i guess it won't work since they will have to "kick / drop" a player...

But online, 6v6 ftw.

we can now be stubborn as fuck and stick to 6on6 until everyone gets sick of always playing the same clans over & over again, or we can try 5on5 and spare a bit of diversity to this game, who knows, maybe TosspoT could get more sponsors for ET and make it as popular as CS1.6 or CSS. Both CS1.6 & CSS are almost as old as ET and have far more sponsors, and i won't talk about which is the better game as that is subjective.

I doubt there could be more top teams and doubt even more the increasing number of MGC's that would provide LAN support because I think 1 player more or less to a clan that is willing to send a team to a LAN is not that big of an issue and anyway most teams that went to cf lans paid for themselves

furthermore, having ET on lans that didn't already have it is unlikely, the games supported on lans are greatly determined by the amount of money they bring, don't know if there's anyone out there that matters who would, after all these years, think "ah this game might have potential, let's introduce it!", you need to have people that will push the game and we currently rely only on tosspot, which is not enough whatever we might think of his abilities

I might be too big of a skeptic but I have a feeling that not much can be done to breathe new life into ET at this stage

I think the decision to use five versus five is far more appropriate now than when it was originally introduced in 2006; good decision.
