RtCW NC I Groups

Last week the NC I groups were drawn, with the UK and team NL being in the top seed Poule - Finland, Belgium, Hungary and Germany being in the mid seed poule and Italy and Estonia being in the lower seed poule. With the help of fro on IRC these were the groups drawn:



The groups are very tight and with the top two teams of each group going through to the Single Elimination playoffs any team has a chance to come out on top come the Grand Final.

Flits, former black bugs and scelesto all-star, who recently returned to the RtCW scene gave the following prediction:

If i look @ group A i think this is the toughest group. Favourite to win the group is the UK. They are all great players but the key to their success will be teamplay. So who is going to be number 2 in the group? Well it’s going to be close between Germany and Belgium. Both nations have the potential to win the nations cup, but can they handle the pressure? It depends on which players will play. If Belgium can play with Syl, Edge and Mouly they will be the number 2.

So now group B. I think the favourite to win the group is the Netherlands. But I’m not sure they will be number one. In the last RTCW cup clan Cave surprised me with fantastic teamplay and some great aimers. That’s why Hungary is my favourite to be the number one. Second will be the Netherlands. It’s like with Belgium. We also have great players but the bench is limited. So if 2D and Mirage can play we could win the nations cup.

group a: uk will win this group easily i think. strongest lineup in whole nc with the RI-players and dic, dusty, jam and owzo. but im not sure about 2nd. the match belgium vs us (germany) will make the decision. it depends on the lineup and having a good/bad day on gameday. besides, sorry but no chance for italy ;)

group b: quite hard to decide. if finland gets in good shape they will go to playoffs together with the netherlands. otherwise will be a tight match against hungary for 2nd place. im not sure about estonia, because i havent seen them playing so far, but i think they will place 4th.

As you may know some show matches were played since the World Cup finished to see which teams were actually available to play, all 6on6 teams that signed up played their show matches and these were the results:

Germany vs. Italy
First up we have Germany against Italy, in what was a very one sided affair. Italy did well to gather 6 for this cup and that alone is a great achievement - hopefully they have some fun in the group games and stick around to play any other upcoming RtCW Tournaments. Germany on the other hand showed they mean business and fully intend on going all the way - their groups games against Belgium and United Kingdom should be great encounters.

Netherlands vs. Finland
Although this game seems one sided, Finland will be playing the possum and with the return of Sirkka they should not be taken lightly. Team NL are one of the favorites on paper for cup victory, and although they used a weaker lineup for this show match then they possibly could have as long as they use the right players at the right times in the cup they should be there or there abouts come grand final day.

United Kingdom vs. Estonia
In what was an exciting game at times, Estonia never really looked like taking a victory over Team UK as much as they tried - although they showed promise in their potential to cause an upset Group B opponents need to watch out especially with newly crowned biggest lagger of RtCW history mant. The UK team lead by dusty are another favorite for the title, as long as they keep active they will have every chance of making it to the final stages.

Belgium vs. Hungary
An epic game in what was the last, slightly delayed due to players on holiday, show match. Belgium fielded a mixed lineup of old timers and fresh faces and could bring the right mix of ambition and experience to the table - a crucial game for them in the group stage is their game against Germany. Hungary on the other hand showed their strengths and as long as players like DooM stay on form they too have every chance to progress into the playoffs.
