Love it or hate it: BRINK has arrived in European stores today!
BRINK promises to blur the lines between offline and online gaming by having seamless transitions from single player matches with bots, to co-op with your buddies to fully fletched multi-player combat. The game features objective based game play, free of vehicles and with an added movement dynamic called SMART which will let you vault, slide and wall jump throughout the maps.
The game was developed by Splash Damage, studio behind award winning and whine receiving games Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars. The publisher is Bethesda Softworks, known from The Elder Scrolls, Fallout and nowadays a sister company of id Software.
Until now the game has released mixed reviews, the game often getting crushed for a poor single player experience but receiving praise for it's movement system and team based multi-player.

It has been updated, and now SD denies any knowledge about the SDK being released next week.
I went to the Microsoft Campus wednesday night as I was invited to the prelaunching of Brink and I met two developpers there. One from Bethesda and another one from Microsoft XBOX 360.
They both told me that the SDK would be released next week.
Announced it the day after and now Splash Damage denies it. How fun is that? :D

The only thing annoying me is the sheer amount of different buttons. They could easily merge some into the same button. As in, buff and revive. You cant exactly buff someone who's dead. Same for engineer. When you are near an objective, the button becomes the 'pliers/torch' etc, but when you are near someone else, it becomes the buff.

How can companies that develop games do not take advantage from the huge community addicted to Wolfenstein world, let futurism and apply the essentials of ET and RTCW. Too bad I do not have the means and resources ... :D

If so, can you a) shoot while moving fast b) constantly go that fast?
Can you do creative and impressive (and i mean impressive as in cpm fragmovie-impressive) stuff?
- the annoying bugs like 95% of the sounds randomly stop working
- some random game crashes.
- Server browser needs a better layout (look at ET for a good layout :S).
- Grenades should do some more damage, atm it's like nothing (a nade won't even gib a revivable enemy).
- People in publics need to use their buffs way more. I'm always spamming my buffs all around me.
- grenade launcher does no damage at all. But u can knowdown enemies with a direct nade hit (nades do not explode on impact; should behave more like ET rifle nades).
- spectating players/teammates should be in first person and not in an odd angle behind the player
- I need a SMART tutorial :D I've no idea what I can do with it (jumping, sprinting, wall climbing, sliding is not SMART stuff).
- Objective and teammate info HUD is to large.
- Objective HUD can be a WH for objective carrier ;D
- the Radar is to strong (you don't need to hear an enemy, you don't need to see an enemy. just go around the corner and shot because there is a red dot on your radar) [like only draw enemies that a covert saw for at least 1 or 2 seconds].
other noticable stuff:
- you can play without iron sight pretty well, just spam mouse1 clicks.
- with perks you can do some useful stuff during sprinting (not shooting :'( [I don't have light body type, yet. So I don't know how fast that unit is]). You can reload or cook nades or use buffs.
- Maps are bigger than ET maps.
-fov is 70 to 110 [command: ui_fov].
Multiplayer lag problems seem to be gone since a few hours. :)

It just needs some fixes/polishing and some advanced HUD options.

the game isnt slow at all.. but i wonder why we have like a spiderman jumping left and right with parkour moves and when he jumps vertically, it seems we are missing a leg (cod style... bah)
then i hope they will fix the automatic healing system.
it's made for consolles...
there is no individual skill in healing the team mates pushing the button and it runs automatically where needed. Plus u can heal from 3 meters. It's ridicolous. Healing via etere? Tesla would be proud!!!!
Another big bug is that u cant understand from where the bullets are coming.
Bad feeling about it.
Hope sdk will be out very soon so modders can work on it (maybe hannes?)
