CCDT Teams Announced!

The interest in CCDT since the announcement last week has been overwhelming and it shows how strong our community is after all of these years. There were over 200 applications to be “community players” with some being removed or re-configured to boost the captain signups so that we could proceed with hosting an amazing 32 team tournament! Some familiar faces around Crossfire and ET, plus some fresh faces which is exactly what ET and the community needs to progress and carry on moving forward.
The captain and co-captain signups were impressive, with around 21 direct signups, some boasting the best players in the game currently and some of all time. The benefit the community players can receive from these "highskilled" players is priceless, but we encourage all to remember that this is not only a competitive tournament, but a fun tournament at the same time, mixing players and people together that would never have played with one another if it wasn’t for CCDT.
As stated above, we have moved numerous community player signups to captain and co-captain signups. We have tried to ensure that those we paired know and have played with each other in the past. It is likely that there will be a few complaints and possible drop outs, but we are prepared and have already began creating a backup poule, as without captains and co-captains, we essentially don't have a team.

SimonKinsler in the #CCDT channel. We will be announcing the tournament schedule and brackets in a further newspost on Sunday evening, along with the details concerning ETTV coverage and possible shoutcasts/stream coverage.
Any players who are still interested in being backups for the tournament, including backup captains and co-captains we would appreciate a message left here or a pm in #CCDT. It is extremely likely due to the vast amount of players present that there are going to be numerous people who cant confirm their availability for every game, so those of you who aren't in a team you still have a great chance to compete!
For now though, we encourage ALL players to join #CCDT to meet their team and urge you to get practicing straight away to ensure you have the best chance in winning this fascinating tournament.

Not enough captains to make 32 teams. Unless you want to be part of a team with a captain that won't have to ability to bring their team as far as captains with actual experience.. be my guest, but then you will just whine about losing.
After receiving over 200 singups/applications, myself and SimonKinsler pushed to create a 32 team tournament, with only 19 direct captain applications. With some intuition and a few extra hours, we managed to create some new captains from the original community player signups and some extra spam in IRC and on crossfire. This meant we managed to get 32 captains and co captains, with just under half of them not actually knowing they were going to be captains.
Also, the benefit of running a 16/32 team tournament is that the brackets are straight forward, having any number in between these or slightly over means more confusion and more games to an already tight schedule.
If you arent happy with the way it has been handled, feel free to create your own version and see if you can perfect it and keep everyone happy.
there are plenty of premade brackets out there for you to use if you have trouble making one yourself, it doesnt have to be 100% fair
you already made some very weak teams by random now, its not gonna make a huge difference if you just handpick players now to make a few extra teams (not taking into consideration what class they signed up ass with the exception for rifles perhaps)

this sentence made me lol too, as R0SS said they were looking for 10+ more captains and co-captains, so if you are so fucking awesome why didnt you apply to become one?
and no I'm not mad, i'm fucking relaxed :) I just can't stand when sad people like you criticize people who try to do something for people like you :)
if you have a problem with what im saying you might as well refute my points instead of calling me names (dont bother me coming from someone i dont know)
i already know how the ET community works, you try to kiss ass as much as possible and then you might have a chance of playing in situations like this (not saying everyones kissing ass or that this was rigged in any way)
some players just automatically lose out in things like this where admins gets to pick teams n shit (they did cherry pick players for captain etc.)
sure i get frustrated when I sign up for something and then see totally random players get in teams but i never said i should take someone elses spot im just saying make a few more teams so we all can play instead of 30-40 have to stay out of this "community" tournament
