mASCULINE mANS
mASCULINE mANS was what was called "newschool" back in 2oo9 when they were rising stars but actually the clan was founded already at 2oo7. The newborn team was founded on team KRP-eSports' basis. These mANLY mANS were about to get their first taste success at 2oo8 when they hit the OC premier top4. They were feeling confident about their 1/4-game vs savak but then miNd happened. He decided to go to sleep an hour before the official and that cost mM the game.
Next season (XIX) mM got an EC quali altho many were against it since many mANS have a cheating past. Fellow Finns,
Swani among them were dropped to OC premier while mANS got to play EC. The guys were put into group with
RoyalBlood, TAG & LAN-winners H2K. They started the season with a loss to LAN-champs but manned up and came out winnermans from two latter group games. On the first play-off round they faced ButtonBashers and lost straight 4-0 as everyone expected. After this they made one of the most admirable shape-ups ET-scene has ever seen and came won every game on loser bracket. They rolled teams such as impact-gaming, H2k, YYT & ButtonBashers. The great finish for this Cinderella story of ET was to win overload twice in the grand final losing only one map versus them.
EC XX was pure pwnage by these vIRILE vULGARS, they came on top the season not losing a single game. Altho the mANS were quite dominant, the season surely didn't lack action!
The struggles of these two very even rivals often were extremely tense, not only during the game but also before and after the game. However the Grand Final game was to be the most memorable event of the EC XX. It surely provoked lots of interest with all the drama surrounding it:
1 Taz blustering on the pre-game interview made by Francis
2 Taz was supposed to shoutcast the game from the server but ECW didn't allow him, fearing he'd be on comms with mM
3 Taz leaking the game server ip on IRC
4 Some polak DDOSsing the server hard, causing the match to be reset
5 mM rolling ECW hard on the resetted match
6 SnoOp deleting his buddylist and hating the Internet
7 To this day the game remains the most commented broadcast of the GamesTV's history (In over 7 years with more than 32,000 matches!)

The plans to make a new team started between hentai (rahul) and perfo somewhere in June 2008. At first they were going to get me (perfo) in as a 6th main player in the UK-based team Generation but they replaced me with Mztik who of course never showed up and then the team disbanded shortly after, leaving hentai teamless and wanting to play more ET again (lol nerd). So then we decided to look around for some players because it was just us two; having had a few discussions and dismissing the bads we settled on the new lineup of:

Deciding on a name was quite hard and there were lots of funny names we could choose from but in the end we chose for S. N. Battalion. I'll leave the meaning of the S. N. letters for you to decide.

In the early stages the lack of a good Engineer was quite apparent though as Meez was an atrocious engineer but Viax was even worse. So after finishing some cups we decided to do some remodeling on our lineup seeing as kye went AWOL and Azatej decided that ET is just too easy for a player of his stature. We recruited Reikkeri and settled on our first big stable SNB lineup:

With this lineup of course our first big achievement was beating the finnish vicious&evil team ( http://www.gamestv.org/event/6704-s-n-battalion-vs-vicious-and-evil/ ) with the odds heavily against us, which was a big motivation boost. However it didn't last long because perfo couldn't play for a short period of time so we got a replacement in the form of uf0l and Hat (our permanent backup) to play a few games where we depressingly lost one, but won the other, so in the end we still progressed to play-offs where we also played with another replacement in the form of R0SS. We finished our first EC in 5th place so not too shabby for a team made up of complete nonames and me.

We didn't make it to the 5th Crossfire LAN but we did have plans to go to CDC6. After winning the HighBot Winter Challenge against former LAN champs H2k (slightly weakened, of course) we decided that attending LAN is next up in our priorities. So because Viax couldn't make LAN we replaced him with old teammate joop who proved to be an amazing substitute and we ended up winning 3rd place at CDC6, an achievement we were very happy with. Making some more substitutes for the currently running EC we ended up replacing Meez with modus for some games and
rahul with wiaderko. After LAN though we kind of stopped practising so MM took the victory in both games, which was deserved in the end.

After that SNB slowly died a painful death but we continued under the name EC Winners with some of the SNB lineup:

We hardly ever practised and this surely showed in our performances but we steamrolled through most competitors that EC anyway as it was kind of the lowest EC ever. So yeah. Finals against vIRILE_vULGARS was interrupted by some polak servercrasher so sNoOp went on a big mental rage still recorded in youtube videos and Crossfire journals. In the end though we lost, as expected.

So after that everything went to 5on5 and I soon realised that 5on5 is pure shit, and it's a long shot from good 6on6 gameplay, and I'm pretty sure MM thought the same so our rivalry stopped there. It's good to be back on the battlefield and facing our long-time opponents. I remember back in 2k8/2k9 (glory days of late ET) that MM was the most dominant team in practice and we would always have a hard time beating them and I think it was kinda 50-50 whoever won the game. But seeing as they rolled us twice in EC Finals they were probably the more stable team, but then again I don't think we ever faced them with SNB at its peak in an official so who knows.

I managed to catch up with perfbro and Sample to answer few questions!

Q: How has your team practised for the upcoming game versus your old nemesis?
perfoWe haven't practised a single game yet, unless you count late night DotA2 games against scrubs. I think we will play a few pracs on the day itself but I'm not sure yet as there will be football and wiaderko's housemates will be streaming the football game (we don't really care though). As for me I've been playing with my team and on public and Baggiez played with team UK, that's all I know.

Q: Who do you think will be the star of your team and why? What about your opponent's?
perfoOn our team the star will probably be NuggaN or Baggiez, they get it done nowadays and I expect a lot from them. Of course the least probable star will be Meez as he hasn't played serious ET for years and I don't think he's gonna live up to his past abilities in the slightest. But only time will tell!
SamplemiNd has been top3-players since he started ET so I would go for miNd obviously. You can also spec oldman kapaa if you want some entertaiment. ECW - perfo is always a good pick, especially, he owns once again. Love his smooth movement.
Q: What kinds of emotions does this nostalgy game awake in your team?
perfoMeez asked me this exact question in a different way: "why the fuck are we playing masculine mans?" So I told him that since we lost our last 2 possible EC wins to them it would be a good time to take revenge. And you know what they say, third time's the charm.
SampleWe just realised that we have the old folks back in business. Ensam had an idea about some showmatch and we started to search an enemy. Fin6 didn't want to play because we are a mix team. Dignitas didn't want to play for unknown reason. Luckily we can trust our old nemesis: SNB/EC2nd :). Miss those times.
Q: What is it that makes your team better than the opponent?
perfoThe SNB teamplay. A sacred form of playing ET privy only to those that have been in a team with Meez and me and have thus had their personalities and gamestyle completely changed (maybe for the worse if you actually watch dialer play). I hope it's gonna be enough to beat the masculine mans.
SampleI guess our teamplay comes from good comms. Plus we got the individual skills that are needed to success in this great battle.

perfoIt's been a long time since we faced MM and seeing as we're not as ridiculously nerdy and acnefaced as them we forgot all their tactics. Wouldn't surprise me if ENSAM, during his army nights, devised some special tactics for this comeback game. Sample and wiaderko have been spotted training rifle trickshots on localhost too, so maybe we will get some new random rifles :D

kReStiWell MM vs ECWINNERS that could be some epic match.. MM used to be unbeatable in their time when they were in shape but on the other hand we got ECWINNERS with also a great mix of lineup.. this will be a very close game and i doubt a 4:2 win for MM.. i guess they can keep up their spam & teamplay from the past and with ENSAM everything is possible :)
LeonnekeThe epictition of Epicosity has returned to the world of ET. It will be a replay of the EC XX final! The finnish team became the ultimate winner of that cup! But now, almost two years later, who knows what the outcome might be... I think EC-winners will win this match 4-2.
frozzConsidering Masculine Mans were best 6on6 team by far before switching format to 5on5 I can't see ecw taking this one. Their lineup is decent, but I don't think it will be enough to beat MM. If MM plays as they did 3-4 years ago this should be 4-0 win without any bigger problems
ArtstarI was actually surprised as hell when I saw this match in the GTV match pending list, I had to pm wiaderko to make sure it wasn't a joke or something! I'm really glad to see this nostalgic showmatch of the two teams who faced each other a lot between 2009/2010, I hope most who want to watch this remember that epic EC where Masculine won the final twice to claim the gold from S. N. Battalion - I don't think many saw a double win coming even with their previous matches that season owning H2k, Impact, Buttonbashers & so on. I just honestly can't wait to see this, I was never a fan of ECW because of the minimal interest they seemed to take in the season but their matches were always great and most of the team are well practiced atm. I don't care what day it's played, I'm not going to prac and I'm gonna be watching this shit!
