Unfortunately the time has come where TZ-AC will no longer be developed or supported. Following issues with a new partnership with TZ-AC, the project will be discontinued and unusable from the beginning of December.
TZ-AC was a much needed replacement for Punkbuster, which was also discontinued for Enemy Territory last year in October 2011. This means that Enemy Territory will now be left without an actively used anti-cheat client. TZ-AC has been used in ESL and CB matches.
Two years have passed since the first development of TZ-AC (formerly SLAC), so despite its issues now, and the fact it will not longer be supported, we must of course thank khaplja for the development and helping to keep ET in the state it has been in for some time.

You forgot to say many cheaters start cheating again, because there is nothing to afraid anymore.
Since we all know ET going down its no problem to say RIP ET and thanks for 8 beautiful years of gaming , fun and meeting people :)

No SLAC/TZAC, no PB... only ESL Wire left.
The only thing which is going down is CB, because more and more people will prefer playing ESL because of Wire.

Why? - Why waste time coding tzac2 then, if you discontinue it after few months?
2nd, ET without a anti cheat is even more death. I refuse to play without one.
And at last, i would like to ask if it would be possible for you (chaplja), as a old ET player n stuff, give the binaries (no source code or anything.. just a ready-to-use tool) to YCN for example, so they can keep hosting it? It doesn't need to be updated, we just need the same service without any further support by the coder.

Second, i am far away from blaming him. I am just saying that he should consider all the possibilities (he should go to university and learn some project skills...), in case of sponsor failure etc, how to proceed... Giving up like that leaves alot of competitions and users , or even a entire game, waiting to die.
And thats why i asked if he could let YCN host it for us, without any cheat update etc. Just the minimum automatic service.

e: of course, if used in school or something the teacher would make some correction but when people actually say it vocally nobody would complain. :D I look at it in the same way as a strong accent, use of slang etc.
But if I start using slang during an oral exam, I dont think I can get away with: But it aint no hurting nobody cuz its slang blad.

no but do you know what he was doing before he started SLAC/TZAC? he probably learnt a lot from this project, now he knows his options and that he could probably get paid a lot with his knowledge in a company somewhere. he has no income from TZAC (or not enough) so that's why he won't continue.
My guess is that he expected ID / Quakelive to pickup TZAC a year or two ago, would've been a lot different now then ^^
Also afaik chaplja has never played ET very serious and competitive as others here did so he probably doesn't even have that passion, and I don't blame him for that.
But since he already wasted that time, why not let some hoster keep service alive, without any further updates or support by him? Just to ensure ET won't die because of no AC.

Its a real shame for ET this. TZAC reallly was one of the best anticheats ive seen much better than PB and VAC

ps... I had a bad past, but soon as tzac come out I could match a lot of these " high skillers level " Even I know myself a few high players who have been lans who used hacks on and off tzac. BIG BIG named players to... However you stopped so many people hacking you stopped me for sure and give me back a good future at ET without cheats I really enjoyed playing when TZAC first was released within that year ET was so much better being able to actually play against these "med+" guys.

doubt I'll play without an AC. SLAC/TZAC time (2010-2012) was my most enjoyable time in ET. 2006-2009 there were so many cheaters everywhere. PB was helpless to stop cheaters, absolutely helpless. the time of having no AC at all (summer 2009 to summer 2010?) was the most paranoid period of ET I've ever seen. like at least 1 clanwar/day would have cheaters. in the last 2 years of TZAC I've faced 2 or maybe 3 cheaters as opponents, all being busted in the next banlist.

And there was idea of that Activation Key with text msg for something like 2-3$ (cant remember,but know it wasnt too much..)...

though a lot of it was paranoia, there was a lot of hax back in that time and that's why the activity dropped so much when SLAC was forced and most servers had it, cheaters either had to get skill or quit. :D a lot of guys just left.

all of these frags were made in 2010 - check 7:20 and even I was being hassled during this whole ODC about being a cheater. :D the admin was asking during everyone of my games which was me, and specced me the whole round. then he ended up getting busted. it was a really fucked up era, kinda painful to look back at. xD

i dont really get certain point of views. chaplja started this few years ago on his own. he created a very decent anticheat, most cheaters didnt had the balls to cheat on it. slac/tzac is the reason why the competitive scene had an extra year of fun. we should be thankful for the effort he put into slac during the last years.
just be realistic, he cant live from tzac (neither et nor from cod4), its time intense in being updated and the biggest point, he lost motivation to put in more energy and precious lifetime into a project which will never amortize its costs.
its silly to argue "well he put ~2y into it, it doesnt matter now anyways, just continue". he made the decision on his own to create an ac to safe the game when it was completely infected with cheaters which resulted in a drastic activity loss. without his effort the game would have been completely down already.
also dont forget, even with tzac the activity of the competitive scene was and still is decreasing. as someone said already before, being critized for each shit not working also wont result in an increased motivation.
tzac prolonged ets life - this is chapljas achievement! but it never was able (and this was obvious) to reactivate/attract enough players to overwhelm all the big mistakes made in past.

We don't need any anticheat programs. Play less irc wars and more offis. Cheaters aren't hard to spot anyway.
