The play-off stage of ClanBase's NationsCup XI commences tonight as the Netherlands take on the USA and Belgium clash with Sweden for spots in the quarterfinals. The two matches will be played concurrently, both starting at 21:00 CET.


The Netherlands will play the USA for a spot in the upcoming quarter-final match against Germany. Having lost only one of five (default loss against Poland), whereas the USA have lost two of six, the Netherlands are the favourites of this match.

In the EuroCup, things are heating up as the kick-off of the penultimate matches of group A draws near. Current leaders of the group, TLR and Cortana, will look at tonight's match-ups with hopes of extending their leads and thus securing spots in the play-offs. Meanwhile, the outlooks for kojak and OVERLOAd, following their recent defeats, are arguably more gloomy as both teams technically face do-or-die situations.

Preview. The first match week of EuroCup XVI continues tonight with two group showdowns. Familiar names don a silly tag, players compete just for the heck of it, and stars hope to live up to the hype as the battle for a spot in the play-offs continues.

Even though the unsettled Danish weather would have me believe otherwise, summer is well underway! The coming of a lengthy holiday has lured many gamers away from their computers and off to their favourite holiday resorts, leaving the competitive scene in a state of player shortage and a rock bottom level of activity. This has prompted some of those who remain at home to get together and form provisional "fun teams" to pass time by duking it out with each other in the various available cups, such as the ClanBase-hosted SummerCup that tonight plays host to two showdowns:


In what is arguably tonight's most prestigious SummerCup showdown (!), the all-Polish side of Veni Vidi Vici go up against the European mishmash of Twatwaffles in group E of the premier league. Currently leading the group after a 4-0 victory against atooN - Azure Fate at the end of last month, the Poles will look upon tonight's match as an opportunity to firmly entrench themselves in the number one position, while Twatwaffles will hope for a victory to tie things up with the Poles after having suffered a forfeit defeat to atooN - unplugged last month.


Before the premier league action gets going, however, the Benelux side of Kitchen Knife Conspiracy and the all-Polish #suffering.et will vie for the number one spot in group C of the fourth league. The two teams are currently tied for the first place in the three-clan group, both having defeated the Portugese Addicts Klan, but will look to put an end to that situation tonight.

More than a month and a half of fluctuating competition culminates in tonight's grand final match between Team Dignitas and The Last Resort. On paper it is a match-up befit a grand final, a clash chock full of history that will form another chapter in the story of the rivalry between two of the game's most accomplished sides.

One is a team that seemed unbeatable for always and ever, by anybody; a team whose dominance at times bordered the ludicrous; true long-standing champions whose reign bore resemblance to that of Mike Tyson before he went to Tokyo and got utterly crushed by Buster Douglas. The other is a team that, after months of determined efforts, managed to reverse a public humiliation to a ground-breaking victory that would set the pace of competitive Enemy Territory for months to come; a team that turned an April afternoon in a hot gaming centre in the Netherlands into a turning point in the history of the game as they dethroned the hegemony of the first-mentioned.

Crunch time draws near as the all-Finnish side of Insignia Cadre duke it out with the boisterous CPC2 champions of The Last Resort in the last chance saloon of the etQcup losers bracket. With a position in the top three secured, trophies and prize money are already a reality for both teams, but yet to be vied for is the amount of spoils and the opportunity to contend with Team Dignitas for the tournament gold.
