After a somewhat dry spell, the Counter-Strike 1.6 & Quake Live scene can cast its eyes on a LAN final again.

When it comes to deciding the cream of the crop of Worldwide eSports talent, many will shrug and give you the name of a consistent team over the past few years, whether that name is mTw, Team EG, MYM or Vitriolic. Over the past few weeks, some of those teams, amongst others, have been battling it out online across two games, Quake Live and Counter-Strike: 1.6 to secure a place at the Extreme Masters Dubai, which will decide who really does stand out in the eSports scene.


Last year we saw one of the most exciting tournaments of the year taking place in in this big city. And again the world's best players will compete at the Gitex Shopper in Dubai from 17th until 24th of October 2009 at the $31,500 Global Challenge.

YoYoTech.CoD4 makes two changes

Some days ago, YoYoTech.CoD4 announced two major changes in their lineup. They are happy to welcome Phil "PhilzR" Kearney and James "Scorp" Long. Both Scorp and PhilzR have already been part of the team and are no strangers to the organisation. Now, Team YoYoTech consists of british players only, which allows them to play the upcoming UK EPS. The team is aiming to reach new horizons in Modern Warfare 2, which will be released in November 2009. The team will have the chance to prove themselves in the h2k-Thermaltake CoD4 Cup against Team Infused.

Since the last Brink-post here on Crossfire (read more..) there've been some new Brink'ish updates to report. First of all, if you've somehow managed to miss it, Splash Damage's Creative Director Rahdo is still around here on Crossfire answering questions in the Brink ?'s-topic. An example of a recent question, made by etkar, Rahdo replied to what lesson Splash Damage have learned from their failure with ET:QW and attracting the competive scene, apart from the tech things.

That's a good question. I wasn't at Splash for ETQW, but I know when I started, they know they missed the boat on several things, but the #1 problem was accessibility and communication to the player. The game was very dense and overly complex (not complexity in a 'look how deep' kind of way, but in a 'damn, there's a lot of stuff to wade through' way). So we're trying to ensure everything about the game is streamlined and smooth.

We already saw the 6on6 3on3 and 1on1 Premier League Grandfinal of our Summer Leagues. Now last but not least the 2on2 Finals are on schedule. Tonights game will be re+play vs Squad.EE.
