CDC3 WSW Precoverage

image: wswnews-networkA week before the start of the Crossfire Devotii Challenge in Enschede, Warsownews.net did a little warsow precoverage for CDC3. Germany Lokirulez fired 5 questions at some of the CDC warsow players. Because the compo never passed the revue in any previous crossfire LAN edition, we are curious to find out what they expect next weekend.

CDC3 warsow's admin Netherlands ETR was one of the lucky guys and gave his statement:
Quote by ETRI'm totally stoked about it now! After finally finishing all the work with the invites, the seeds, and after quite some lastminute stress I can finally look out to the compo itself. Especially seeing all the confirmed players being there (next to the participants a fair good few dedicated Warsowians), the logcabins we'll share, it'll be a very good time no doubt. Also participating will be a ball, I'm not expecting much performance-wise, however I will try my best to practise plenty next week. I am really anxious to see vicek, BoBel and BRUNS play irl (I have already had the pleasure to see scoobz0r playing :p).

CDC3 Seeds, Groups and Schedule!

With just a week until the Crossfire Devotii Challenge 3 the tension is mounting and now its time to turn up the temperature with the ever contentious seeds and groups, along with the schedule! Its also time to announce the final tournament revisions as we've been met with some challenges.

Tournament Revisions

The ET tournament will be 20 teams played in 4 groups of 5 teams, this means that we'll be able to offer teams more matches than at any of the previous tournaments. Further to that, The top two teams will progress to a double elimination bracket and the 3rd and 4th teams will go into a single elimination bracket for their eventual rankings. Again meaning that teams will play more matches than ever before at CDC. However, with this being some 4 teams short of our original plan, we've lost on revenue for prizes, it means the ET prizepool will drop from 6200, to a flat 6000 Euro.

The Warsow Tournament has had massive player changes however today we've settled and confirmed on a 16 player tournament with groups of 4 and a double elimination 8 man bracket emerging from that. Again we've taken a hit on the signups and the prizepurse will be 1200 Euro.

Seeds

Ever the contentious issue! Whilst we have seeded individually, meaning we have a 1st 2nd 3rd seed etc, the primary function of seeds within a group is to seperate them into a group so Dignitas and TLR for example arent in the same group. Keeping the tiers apart from one another is the important factor, not who is 5th vs who is 6th. Seedings were done on results and achievements.

GamersNation WB Final

image: etcup(1)

Tonight we see the Winner Bracket Final of the GamersNation ET Cup. Europe HardMethodGaming take on the former Sleepers side Europe phantasmagoria, with the winners staking claim to a place in the Grand Final whilst the losers will have to win all their matches in the loser bracket to have a chance to play in the Grand Final.

With both teams looking to be competing in at least OC Premier in this seasons Clanbase Fall Cups, and some tipping these teams to feature in the Eurocup, this match will be an ideal stage for both teams to try and impress pundits and spectators.

QWL ET:QW Demo Cup updates

image: QWLBanner

As I wrote about earlier (read more...) Quake Wars League, QWL, are hosting a ET:QW Demo Cup starting next week. But since I wrote that there have been some major updates concearning the rules. Earlier, QWL wanted to allow flyers but after some careful consideration and a heavy debate at their forums they have now decided not to. This decision now rules out flyers and I wouldn't be suprised if this was the last time we've seen the flyers actually thought about in ET:QW competitive play.

There are also some more restrictions made by QWL and this is kinda interesting as the new rules will make way for some more intense infantry combat.

QuoteTo prove we're not deaf, dumb and lame public players.. we have been seriously brainstorming about all possibilities and ofcourse considering all kinds of remarks made by you, YES YOU!; thus coming to the following rules for the upcoming cup:

- Teams may only use vehicles from their current spawn and/or capturable forward spawns.
- The defending team may use vehicles from the previous spawn if it does not conflict with the vehicle restriction ruleset.
- Teams may only use 1 heavy vehicle at a time.
- Teams may only use 1 medium vehicle at a time.
- Teams may only use 1 sniper, however there is no limit on the Covert Ops/Infiltrator class.
- There may only be 1 Field Ops/Opressor deployable, however there is no limit on the Field Ops/Opressor class.
- Flying vehicles are not allowed. (Not including the Icarus)

Heavy vehicles include: Cyclops, Desecrator and Titan.
Medium vehicles include: Hog and APC.

Valley Specific Rules
- The shielded rear strogg base is off limits. You may not take vehicles from this base nor place deployables inside this area.
- The serversettings to allow MCP destroying when off-course should be disabled, meaning that if the MCP drives off-course and is disabled it will stay at this position. These are the commands and how they should be set:
seta g_noRouteConstraintKick "1"
seta g_noRouteMaskDestruction "1"
- The MCP may not be driven left after the bridge, before the tunnel along the mountainside to prevent falling in the water with the serversettings provided in the previous rule, however it can be driven left by the end of the tunnel.

There are still some debate whether these rules are final or not, you can take part in the discussion HERE.

QWL is set to start on Wednesday, the 19th after the seeds are done this weekend. So far 49 of 64 slots have been taken, and there is little time left, so head over there and signup.

TeK-9 win Eurocup

European giants TeK-9 have today won the Clanbase Eurocup finals in Enschede after a thrilling grand final against H2k. In a repeat of the outpost on fire grand final, TeK-9 were taken all the way by the dutch team who will take heart from their recovery after Wonderbase.

Netherlands H2k 16-14 Europe TeK-9
Netherlands H2k 10-16 Europe TeK-9

The result came after H2k steamrolled over german side Speedlink earlier in the morning. The team looked most impressive today, erasing the memory of yesterdays defeat on Burgundy.

Europe TeK-9 - 2700 Euro
Netherlands H2k - 1500 Euro
Germany Speedlink - 1000 Euro
4th Belgium tempkids - 800 Euro

Quote by Davy We played badly at Outpost on Fire and won, here we chose Dawnville against h2k which was a mistake that we got over to win. After wonderbase we're not as afraid of serious as we were, they might still be the top challenger but we havent played them in a while. Anyone can be our rival in CoD2 at the moment, because CoD2 is like CS where any team can win on any day, H2k did really bad at Wondebase and they played so well here. We seem to be the one team that stands out though.

Quote by Team-Dignitas blackComing into this final against a team where i have played every member at some point i wouldnt underestimate any of them, but i believe we should be able to take the win. Regarding our team over the past weeks we have recruited 2 new players and a very suitable 6th, unfortunately we have been unable to practice with plazma due to him just moving house and having no net, however lopezz has filled in very well.
Quote by Reason-Gaming Karl It will be a good test for us to play this game against Dignitas. We have only been a team for a few weeks and we havn't played that much together. But we are getting noticably better as we play more. We were happy to bring in Benn and Trainee because they bring a huge amount of experience and it's showing in our game. This will be the first reasonably serious match we have had to play yet.So we are gona give it our all. Toujane been the map, is probably a good thing.. but we don't know what Dignitas are like on it, so we arent sure whether or not to be happy about it. I think we have a good chance of winning, but the new players Dignitas brought are top notch so it will be a tough game for both sides im sure. We just hope we put on a good show for GIGA.
Shoutouts to Steelseries, OCZ Technology, Multiplay, GladiatorComputers and KingDhesiii.

Being shown on a TV station is not even a major point regarding sponsors and fans, it's even important for keeping a game alive or to promote the upcoming title of it. With having problems finding fitting teams for a major TV event, I'm proud bringing the one and only important CoD2 One-Day cup back up on our very own crossfire.

Regarding the upcoming CDC3 edition 2 where CoD2 is played, you can prove yourself to a big audience and prove your ability to be one of the best European teams. 8 teams are trying their best to take their road to be in a list next to our last winner Czech Republic eSuba.

The final match of this cup will be broadcasted live by GIGA, a free web stream is available as well as the full quality stream right into your TV with Astra Digital (kinda in Germany only).
