At least hiphop got rhymes although the lyrics are usually on the same level if you ask me. I can enjoy a few of the bigger groups, metalica, rage against the machine, guns 'n roses (old i know) and just a couple of songs I actually like.

I did listen to black metal shit, but I allways thought that was just me being 14 and really naive :)

I agree that there's a lot of shit metal. But there's good stuff as well, like in almost every genre. You just have to be selective. About hiphop.. for me the most important aspect in good music has always been good melodies which is why I don't really care about that talkshow stuff.

Anyway.. I'm not metal only, that'd be boring. Listening to a lot of electronic stuff as well as some pop, punk, random rock, even some 70's and 80's stuff. Trying to find good music regardless of the genres.

About lyrics.. unless you count some freaky black metal stuff and such, I'd say metal has a lot higher standards than hip hop in general :p

depends on what kinda rap/hiphop youre listening. There is (atleast in NL) enough hiphop that isnt only about bitches, money and their big ass guns, and i really think those guys bring a far better message into this world then some good metal bands, there arent any standards in any kind of music imo, only what ppl like and dislike.

i can give you pretty cool hiphop beats that are far from the regular gangster stuff around, but its dutch so you wont understand shit anyway :P its pretty electronic and some stuff has alot of instruments even sometimes.

wtf is wrong with black metal and why the hate? old late 80s/early 90s blackmetal stuff is lame/retarded to most (but so is rap tbh, only rap got better production) but it progressed to something impressive in the last 10-15 years (to me black metal is as rich as classical music qua music, even if it seems cheasy and dumb and the vocals are just weird for some groups, only that for some bands the vocals are just another instrument), you just need to know which albums to download/buy, as they are not all good/okayish. i recommend from black metal for example (ok maybe too many xD):
