tbh ET looks more decent for competitive play, less 'bullshit' in the maps, MW(its MW right? :P) looks more chaotic etc. While ET looks clean and good for competitive play. But that's just my opinion since for competitive play it should be more about gamestyle, engine, etc then graphics
i don't care about clan gaming, just because it's so important to pracc day after day and it kills the fun off it most likely, neither the idea that there would be some kid screaming on vent because you fucked up something, and he is so cool and leader and shit like that.
and when i look at these two pics, i don't have to think twice wich i would like to play. might be that it has something to do that i've spent some years of my life to the first one and it's just not so interesting anymore at all. i like that game has some nice grapchis that the interest keeps up, i've had enough of serrated edges and it's not 90's anymore etc.

as i said, i agree that games do get boring after you get "good" on it, this might be the crossroad that some goes clan gaming some what ever they feel like.
Competitive gaming doesnt mean praccing every night. For singleplayer I like things to look as nice as possible, but when im playing multiplayer I prefer a clean and customizable look. Getting a clean look is possible in CoD4 afaik though, so graphics are hardly and argument when it comes to multiplayer. I personally just enjoy the format of ET more than CoD
give me the highest, non photoshopped picture of et gameplay and i will change it, but like always, truth hurts, it doesn't change "much" from that pic, game what has no antialiasing can't be beatiful.
you can, the server would only have to be unpure and who the fuck cares about that gunx command (ugly anyway, have found much better settings : p). similar graphic allowed even with competition configurations : p
there used to be more than three 1-day-cups per day tbh .. and now there's like 3 per week ..

It has lost the shine it used to have,yes... But have to disagree with the players part. Splatterladder tells us W:ET still has way more than 300 players left :)! I actually am open-minded about new games, they just have to be good!

only games which I think are more competitive are QuakeLive and Counter Strike Source, cod will fall away since there's too many games and MW2 seems to have failed competitively (although we'll see that might change)
this rumour it's over 2 years now,and yet competitive mode it's still on good stage,fun scrims all over,public servers full till later in the night so nope i think it's more alive ...
If you enjoy the game then play it, if not then you are probably just looking for reasons that the game has become dull for you. And so the game is dead for you, not for us others that still enjoy it. I'm sick and tired of all you pricks that try to be smart by stating that this game is dead when it obviously isn't "dead" in that sentence. People get tired of games, but new people find it as well. Live with it.

Yeah. The thing is that a game can loose it's competative side, it can loose it's activity amongst players. People move on and such. But it can never really die. It's just ridiculous to say.
A good example that I've brought with me from another community is the No One Lives Forever scene. It's mainly a game built for the SP experience but it had an online community with quite a lot of players. Clans were born and players joined them, even tho the game wasn't supported by the developer Sierra that much, players made maps and found loads of ways to make the game able to work for competative gaming.
It was a fun community to be in, it was quite small so everybody knew each other, there were of course lots of drama just like in any other community about cheaters and stuff. And there were also this discussion about the game dieing, it came out in 2002 and it wasn't made to be played online. Still matches were played and people enjoyed it.
Last year though, Vivendi, the publisher was bought up by Activision. Activision decided that Sierra, who went into bankruptcy, had to close their master server for Nolf2 and many other games.
So well, we all thought that this would be the final blow to this game now that there weren't any master server left. But yet again, the community found a way around this. Today Nolf2 still has ONE server running hosted through a master server funded by the community.
People are still playing it on set dates and the game hasn't died, yet.
I don't see ET being anywhere close to what Nolf2 is of being "dead". There isn't any CPR needed here. Just less idiots.
