The event has kicked off in earnest today, and perhaps expectations really arent being met.
Firstly I'll start off with the evening from Day 1, I can remember about TH...IS much of it, The opening ceremony had a great video that will soon be uploaded to GGL.com which is worth watching, those 5 of the 60 minutes were interesting, unfortunately the other 55 were as boring as well..every opening cermoney! Returned to the hotel to shoutcast the ET EC, apparently Stewie was drunk onair, how very unproffesional! :P The rest of the evening was a blur from there.

However there is some security tape lieing next to my bed and and a photo with me in it...so I'm guessing I had to break up some riots or something...

Moving onto day 2 and the event itself has kicked off! This might be the world cup final but the World Cyber Games really show how an event of this setup should be run. As a spectator here at ESWC you are completely disconnected from the event itself, there are seats and big screens but the seats are so far away and there is NO atmosphere. Let alone there actually being something to do outside of watching the games.

Without a shoutcast in any language you've no emotion being conveyed towards the screen. There are occasionally some French people running some interviews on something of a stage, but they dont know what the hell they're talking about and its annoying to watch.

Spectator wise...there arent any of the general public attending and thats because there arent any signs in any places of importance and those dont tell anyone about what the event actually is! Again comparisson to the world cyber games who spam adverts across the city and buy the advertising on buses in the select city.

After doing some interviews and working at the event, we decided it was time to watch the football and then play poker! I thought I was going to emulate my feet in LA and win big again, unfortunately crow had other ideas! It started well, I won big in the opening hand. However ReDeYe was going in big on 3 hands all against crow and he unluckily lost them all, in really really close scenarios, with such a huge chip lead I struggled to keep up and finished 2nd with a 10 euro profit and everyone else losing (bar crow ofc who won 40 euro or so).

All in all at the moment as an event its a touch boring. But we hope for a better day 2!
