Here is where i blow my own trumpet. Before applying to be a crossfire admin, i was a general/casual user that rarely posted much whether it be a comment or a news item. I can honestly say though that i have never had a comment deleted, never been warned and never been banned in all the 5 or so years that i have been a member. Why? Because i have followed the rules in most circumstances. I think most will agree that i am quite outspoken and i am the first to hold my hand up and say there has probably been a time where i have broken the odd rule or two but fortunately never been punished.
You could say that there is favouritism or you could say that the rules are guidelines and occasionally can be misinterpreted or even bent slightly for a better cause or just because it is understood that there is no real harm in breaking it. Either way there are times when you can apply common sense to a situation and in all likelihood, common sense will prevail over a set of rules which in all honesty could be outdated or wrote by a complete tool.
So why is common sense not used as a method when applying it against rules? Dont forget that a lot of ppl in life whether it be admins or teachers that are just messengers, asked to co-operate and enforce by the rules set. Always remember the term dont shoot the messenger as in most cases especially specific to the one that i am about to touch base with. The messenger is only doing their job and following the rules as they are laid out. My personal opinion however, is that someone who applies common sense and courtesy is much more respected than those who follow rules word by word.
We now reach my actual point of the column. We have a game which is ever increasing in age, a game where numbers seem to be dwindling. A game which offers little competition from major leagues (yes i will have a dig at you Clanbase and ESL). The last remaining competition/league is hosted by Clanbase and it was a competition that years ago had a prestigious feel to it. We do however have the advantage of crossfire's involvement in introducing new competitions such as Battle For Berlin.
Now what really frustrates me is that we have come off the back of a summer period (like all previous summer periods) where activity has been low. That plus the community uproar and demand to change the format back to 6on6 we have a game itching for activity. So why is it that Clanbase - a "professional" league still implements rules from many seasons ago which do not apply to a game further developed from its original state?
I am the first to point credit and appreciation to admins throughout the game who dedicate their time and effort to police a game full of children. I would also say i am one of the first to advise admins on any decisions i feel have been wrong or unjust. Now i will be one of many to openly criticise them. But i would never criticise admins for making a mistake, it must really be a cock up, number of errors or plain arrogance that would irritate me to the point of open criticism.
We finally come to the decision by Clanbase to remove oxid from Eurocup. A team that had to qualify for EC and play it's first match of the groupstages last night. A team most ppl probably thought werent going to have much of an impact on the competition, especially not progressing through the groupstages.
I wont get into the politics of the admin(s) decisions. i just want to point out the truth that in all honestly, they barely did anything wrong. A player not on the clanpage? What, is clanbase going to rename themselves to ESL and give Penallty Points for non capital letters when naming a demo? I mean every team and player knew that snoop was a member of oxid, jesus he even played in the qualifiers without being registered there. 24 hour rule for an approved player list? What are we going back to the dinosaur ages of Punkbuster? The only reason we had that rule in the first place was to discourage players from using a fake player as you could check against their ET Pro/PB Guid. We now have the wonderful feature of TZAC, which enables players and admins to ensure that each team is playing with their correct lineup.
Now comes the weird part, a 2nd red card for a player (s1LENT) who lost qualifier one and was replaced in that team with another player. If there is a rule that states players of a losing team cannot participate for X number of weeks in EC, then i cant wait to see what g2p's lineup will be tonight, seeing as they have 3 players who lost both qualifier 1 and 2 meaning that as per the rule implemented on oxid, g2p would have to find 3 replacements.
I could type and button bash for hours upon hours. Frankly im not going to publicly slate admins individually, all i ask is that you apply some common sense to this and all future situations rather than abiding by rules that were made from many seasons ago. Removing teams for trivial matters such as not being on the clanpage is ridiculous and then removing them after one of the admins agreed that it was fine to play with a player, to then have another admin say it wasnt acceptable completely tops of the situation.
There have been a number of errors this season, such as the 1st set of groups containing all of the direct invited teams. We need activity and competition in this game and to remove a team considered an underdog who beat a team challenging for the top 5 in the competition is a real shame for both the league and the game. Everyone knows that there is a lack of talent coming through the middle ranks, so why remove a team that have shown they have potential to challenge others even though they were regarded as insignificant.
I ask both Clanbase and other league/tournament admins that you either apply the rules to everyone or put yourself up for public criticism. Clanbase - please reverse the decision and lets move on and actually finish a Eurocup Season with some thrilling games. Rules are guidelines and shouldnt be specific to every situation. The community is forgiving and i know there are a number of players and teams dissapointed with the latest decision. Dont be afraid to admit you were wrong, or that you are giving the team a the benefit of the doubt seeing as the rules are about as useful as having 6 razz's in your team

an admin allowed the players, thats all that counts
Also even the rulebook nazi side of myself can't find a legitimate way to enforce this decision. Not only does it go against common sense and fair play as well as the decision of the supervisor, it's not even supported by the rules. Take this wall of text as proof:# If a player is on the Allowed Players List of more than 1 clan in the cup, they are only eligible to play for 1 clan of their choice. To play for another clan during the cup they must meet the following criteria.
* Their new clan are not in a lower division than the previous clan. True
* The clan have not already added 3 new players during this Cup. True
* The clan have not already added 1 new player during the Playoff Stage. True
* The player must spend 1 matchweek (from Monday to Sunday) without playing for any clan in this cup. For Example if the player played on the Thursday of matchweek 1, they will not be eligible to play for their new clan until Monday of matchweek 3. True
* A matchweek is a week in which matches are scheduled to be played according to the official match roster, this includes the Wildcard week directly after the Group Stage. Any extra weeks off before playoffs/semi-finals etc are not considered to be a matchweek.

No Go to step 2
2. Did the player play in the corresponding cup in the Spring 2011 Season? Yes Player can only play 1 division lower than last season, go to step 3.
No Go to step 3
3. Has the player already played for your clan in the cup? Yes Add the player, they can play right away.
No Go to step 4
4. Do you want to add during the Group Stage? Yes NMP, max. 3 players per season Alright, let's complete the New Member Procedure:
No Go to step 5
5. Do you want to add during the Playoff Stage? Yes NMP, max. 1 player per season
(if Group Stage total is <3)
No I think you did something wrong!
What is the New Member Procedure (NMP)?

2. The player must spend or have spent 1 entire matchweek (Mo-Su) before or during the group phase without playing for any clan in the cup. Done
3. Fill out the APL Form Dunno if this minor detail was done or not because the team was insta-deleted from the cup.

1- I dont think they dedicate their time to please all of us,but to get some "power" into the game(most of them at least). You just need to see some of the guys who used to be really nice guys to talk with and who became retarded after being named as admins
2- there arent as much children as you think playing atm,for example in the spanish community most of the people are over 25 yo,the problem is that those "few" children make the game dirty
sorry for engrish and nice read, cheers
Edited.
can't follow them, don't compete
You can add a player to the Lineup or APL a minute before the match in Cups, if he's not listed on the APL, you only get a yellow card.
On a side note, I'd like to see something done by the content rules of Crossfire. I was once told by one admin that in practice the site rules don't apply anymore and are horribly outdated. Maybe it's time to update them.
I'm pretty much expecting a "Yah will be done for Crossfire 4" -type response, and frankly I'm not too happy with responses like this, especially when we have no idea when this marvelous fourth coming of Crossfire that will fix every problem both known and unknown will take place.
Foamea,l4z & me doing good work kkthxbb
1. admins should not take the rules word by word
2. better communication between the admins needed
3. allow oxid to play ec again (dunno what he was talking about the played match vs. bp, if rematch or with the result shown)
4. admins of a leauge should admit it when they did bullshit
agree
Ridiculous that oxid got banned, but g2p was allowed to play with their full lineup today.
Will write more about this when I got the time to do so.

As for this specific case, you cant have one admin allowing what happened and another then deciding to remove people from a cup. It has no positive influence on the cup at all, so I dont really think it was a useful thing to do. As Ross said, it wasnt the first...lets say weird decision made this "season".
-> Makes me go really jelly, got ip banned for 1 month because of I said that one of decem's airstrikes had been shit.
* Red Cards:
-> I was given a red card in NC for not playing with my real nick (punkbuster id and all that were correctly entered and no one complained). In the same matchweek some other nation played with some guy not in their roster -> yellow card.
* In this case:
-> Plase stop talking about the game's state competitionwise if you are not even playing EC. That's quite a devious thing to do.

decem has just deleted a comment you made on this journal.
Quote Explain please?"
FOLLOWED BY A 1 MONTH IP BAN!!!11
though the biggest problem are the admins, nothing against those guys, but they're not involved enough or experienced enough in the community to know how to handle these situations.
Somebody like homer or other "respected" figure in the community should take care of this.
6 razzs?
unbeatable ^^
Ross jelous much
so i cant "instant" revive my teamm8 sitting @ door again and again? (e.g. deli or supply)
and just according to the current ec rules stated on the cb page all games have to be played in the 5v5 mode!
+ the whole pb part needs to get removed + guid part needs some fixes ...just to mention a few silly mistakes
and btw i played some 3v3 mixes on b4 and all the time our opponent is shouting "no side allowed" ...i know one can agree on not using side (same on frost) but if i want to use i am free to do so! so once and for all you cant force your opponent to not use the side!!!111
Door = "A door is a movable structure used to open and close off an entrance"
What you talk about is a door opening, the entrance to the other room (e.g. delivery dont know where you mean supply..? (at crane mabye?))
And i dont know what you talking about with the side thing..? Its allowed, shouldn't care less about what your opponent has to say
edit: ok it is not a door and not illegal then ;) missed your point ;D
and yes, the rule is only about (moveable) doors^^
and with a proper rush you can even get nades perfectly timed at delivery or supply xD
I really don't care so much about being removed, I mean I've been banned from cb for 3 months for smurfing as another player (Godfather) from team USA. Then when nordan did the same with team estonia aliasing as Holz (Tarvo) he received no such ban. I was then given the reason that I used a guidspoof but when you look at the ban:
http://clanbase.ggl.com/humaninfo.php?hid=2503954&suspend=1
there is nothing to be found.
Point is that clanbase has been doing this for a long time, subjectively applying the rules when they want to and the admins can be far from competent. This scurzerek guy who's name is so dumb I cannot even be bothered to pronounce or remember probably tops it off. Who lets 2 teams begin a match with the wrong players then connects halfway through the match and types, "no, just no" then disconnects. Wonderful adminning. Didn't know EC turned into a one day cup run by Robaciek.
At the end of the day this so called "adminning" is ruining any sort of prestige, fun, competition that any of these EC players would've expected to have. All you're doing is dragging your own name into the mud.
Fair play about taking a step to do something about it Rossy boy.
I haven't really been following the controversy but I understand it now and it does seem somewhat corrupt on the admin(s) part, due to bad decisions.
We all want to see good games, things like pride seems to be seeping into the situation, which to be fair, is superfluous at this time in the games life.
Hope everything gets resolved!
10-14 teams should be invited, 2-6 places should have qualifers.
