The good thing with CPMA is that the players find there is room for improvement in many different aspects of their game and this makes playing enjoyable. You've perfected your aim? There's still movement and item control to keep you busy. You've got great movement? Maybe you could work on map control a bit more. The game's limits are set so high that I can honestly state that no CPMA player has reached them yet. Just moving around on an empty CPMA map, attempting the trickjumps and testing your movement is as enjoyable as a real match. There's something about developing your skills that is more evident in promode than on other FPS games, you can actually see that the time you put into it pays off, as you become better and better.
The game was designed from the start to favor several different game styles. There are players with very good aim that don't use movement very much. On the other hand, there are players with average aim, that use their movement skills to line up their shots or put themselves in a favorable position. You can really follow your own playstyle and still be able to compete with the other styles if you work on it enough. The more time you put into the game, the more you will get out of it. Thankfully, most of the important game modes are active today, so you can play your favorite. You're a dueller? a TDMer? or maybe you prefer CTF? There are pickup games every day which will help you improve as a player while enjoying a nice match. Maybe you're into more casual games? The Clan Arena servers are always buzzing with activity.
To me however, the most important part of CPMA is the gameplay itself. I think you get a hint of that when you reached a skill level can move around a little and you can safely guide your rockets where you want them to go. The speed and intensity of a match will leave you hanging by the end of your seat and you will feel great satisfaction when you witness that your skill has grown (whether it's movement, aiming, item timing etc). In the end it's just the fun you get out of an impressive frag, a funny moment here and there, some clumsy error when you're about to capture the enemy flag, stuff like that which make you smile a bit and feel so nice.
