can anyone plz explain me the whole situation what happens in egypt and why, or just give a info link. thanks
well its quite a difficult situation to explain. but mainly its about freedom of speech, freedom to demonstrate, freedom of press. high prices for food and many good educated unemployeed young people who are frustrated by the bribe in government. additonally the president is in power since 1981 and wants his son to take over when he resigns once. i hope thats a quite accurate summary. oh and what is also interesting is the protesters are cheerfull for the army cause they hope they ll protect or even help them.

Seeing the success of the Tunisian revolution, Egyptians felt like it is time for a massive change in their country : their president (Mubarak) is leading the country for 30 years now. and his son is about to succeed him. Mubarak is not really a dictator but he doesnt represent democracy ; corruption is very developed there too, poverty as well, and all the classical stuff, therefore the Egyptian people want a big change and want the departure of president
Parent
both thanks for an explanation! :)
So that means, the whole "revolution" just began from nothing there? I mean the whole situation was like over 10 years, and suddenly Egyptians want the changes and begin to protest. Who was behind it and made the first step? who was leading it? Who is the next candidate, if everything goes right for the protesters? Which role the islamic religious system plays in the old situation from the political side and which demonstrants want it to be?

its all MOSSAD plot man

well the revolution in tunesia was the spark that was needed. and to who could come to lead now it could be elBaradei or just someone else who emerges as a leader. so far it doesnt have a real leader except ElBaradei who claimed it for himself. also i m not sure it seems like religion doesnt matter too much, obviously most of the protesters are muslims but its said everywhere that people of all religions and political views unite right there
Parent
I heard Boutros Boutros-Ghali on the radio this morning and he was saying that El Baradei doesn't have the stature of a leader, he was even kinda laughing while saying that :P

But they haven't succeded yet and I think they are far from it since Mubarak is originally from the army corps, so it will be harder for the protesters to get rid of him if the army keeps supporting him :/

About the religious, the strong power maintains them under control, they are tolerated in the political system but when it comes to gaining a more influent role, like in the riots, their members get arrested and they activities restrained. But they are still tolerated, because it is a sort of scape goat for the government when there are troubles and so on.. My purpose is not very clear cause I'm not that aware of the facts concerning religion, I hope you still get my global ideas :P

al-jazeera is playin a brilliant role in all of this...

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/28/world/middleeast/28jazeera.html?hp
Al Jazeera is by far the best news channel.

yeah been watching this, no wonder tbh :O
It was expected. My first thought after finding out about it was if there were any discounts on hotels and plane tickets to Egypt. :D
I'm the only egyptian player here xD

Al jazeera is not all time right, the situation is different by viewing through tv than going to the square yourself and see it, I live near the tahrir square.... and it was pretty hell last 28 janurary ( The madness friday ) but at some point al jazeera channel is not revealing the truth all time.. prepare next 25 janurary of 2012 might be a new revoloution in Egypt...
