CB EC XXI with invites

Welcome to Clanbase EuroCup XXI. First 5on5 competition on that level brought 266 signups. We have decided to change several things regarding qualifier process and later stages as well. I must admit that last season's qualifiers decision was very easy compared to this one. Being unsure about certain clans, I've consulted everything with Malta

Killerboy. After hours of chat, lots of scores checked, demos browsed (the ones we've received from clans who desperately wanted to prove they're EC quali material), we did some changes and finally agreed who will compete in EuroCup Qualifiers.

The cup formula will be different as I mentioned already. We wil have:

4 direct invites
8 high qualifiers invites
16 mid qualifiers invites

The groupstage will consist of 6 clans per one group (4 in total). Qualifiers will divide clans into poules. Each group will consist of 1 clan from each poule. How does it look like?

4 directly invited clans will go to poule 1
8 high qualifiers clans will create 4 pairs. Winners will go to poule 2, losers to poule 3
16 mid qualifiers will create 8 pairs. So we will have 8 winners and 8 losers. 8 winners will create 4 pairs. Winners of winners will go to poule 4. Losers of winners will go to poule 5. Now, we will have 8 losers which will create 4 pairs. Winners of losers will go to poule 6, losers of losers will drop out and go to one group of OC Premier.

As mentioned earlier the cup's groupstage will consist of 6 clans put in 4 groups, 24 clans in total. Top3 out of 6 will secure their playoff spot in a double-elimination brackets.

QUALIFIERS TIME SCHEDULE

High qualifiers - 29th March : 7th April
Mid qualifiers - 29th March : 4th April -> first match ; 5th April: 11th April -> second match

13th April - Groups announced in the Radio Show with Matias

19th April - 1st matchweek start
17th May - start of last matchweek
18th July (max)- end of EC XXI

As you can see, we will finish the cup shortly before Antwerp eSports Festival

I'm pretty sure we (angeldust) got invited because we've been performing well in OC premier with a pretty stable lineup for over 4 years and because we did well on lan. Ofcourse we wont win EC, but I it's nice that stability and loyalty doesnt go unnoticed.

From my point of view, no :P Let me explain. I haven't seen you guys playing yet and I really want to - it's 5on5 mode in which you haven't played yet and I've picked those 4 teams to direct because of EC (f5), CIC7 (Blight, tMoe) and #evu.cup 5 winner of highest league (vae). I do agree that normally your team should swap vae in here but as I said, I really want to see you guys playing to judge you. Some people claim that it's the hardest quali - well, Impact just lost to nulli secundus - a team who got 5th poule :-)
Besides, obviously you won't get f5 or Blight in your group :-) As I said earlier, it's the groups that matters, not qualis :)

These are just qualis -__- Groupstage - that's what matters. You have several players that came back after inactivity in ET. And by that pair, it means that you won't meet them in the groupstage.

Oh that whine :D, always same thing with this. Why those who are at lower division won't just show that they belong to higher? I did that once and after that we were at prem division, even if we might have not deserved it.

so every team which play in qualis will be @ group stage? they are only playing for higher poules in groups?

16 mid qualifiers will create 8 pairs. So we will have 8 winners and 8 losers. 8 winners will create 4 pairs. Winners of winners will go to poule 4. Losers of winners will go to poule 5. Now, we will have 8 losers which will create 4 pairs. Winners of losers will go to poule 6, losers of losers will drop out and go to one group of OC Premier.

Funny how there are high and mid quali's. mid as in middle of high and ?

These days everybody wanting to play in EC call themselves highskilled even though with the occasional exception practically everybody in the qualifiers would get steamrolled by the likes of Blight, vae & Easy Mode (real highskill).

could be, i just pointed sereNity as an example since their lineup seems to be pretty strong (but i don't know how are they playing lately). As i said i am not trying to say ewave aren't good but givin em quali spot just because they won a map against rockit + few of them are lanproofed is a bullshit. They also made a lineup change so stability isn't an excuse. Just my tiny point of view :D

so you have 28 clans there and 24 spots, only 4 clans of those 16 mid qualis won't get into EC?

I think we've at a point where every clan that wants to play in EC should get a chance to fight for it, like an elimination tourney during one week and then who's left from that tourney gets a qualifier spot

so you could have like 64 clans fighting for 8 low-qualifier spots, no whine, no "OMG THAT TEAM GOT A QUALI???" and everyone would be satisfied

LOL, sorry homer i think ur a good admin and all but evu cup? Half the teams never showed up or at least played with mixes and it was a cup hosted by urself. Ur just basically asking ppl to play it next time for their own benefit which is wrong because afaik evu cup has nothing to do with clanbase. Anyway im no saying vae shouldnt have got the spot but id have given it to p&p or FiF.

Well, I know I'm repeating myself but..don't be worried, groups will be equal :-)
#evu.cup was supposed to give a good view of several clans and it helped a bit. I can't extend qualifiers @ CB so I'm searching for any other solution. Last year, I asked for demos - no one sent. This year, I made a quick cup to have a preview and I think it worked not bad at all.
