Razer Deathadder Review

After the ESReality Mousescore 2007 Sujoy promised to review Razer's new mouse as soon as he gets his hands on it. Now the review is done.

The new Razer mouse features an optical sensor, which handles up to 1800 DPI, and a polling rate of 1000 Hz. It has the same shape which was used for the Microsoft Habu.

QuoteThe DeathAdder is aimed at low sensitivity gamers, that is gamers who prefer to sweep the mouse a long way for any kind of movement. To accomplish this Razer are using a new, third generation, infra-red, optical sensor that they claim "eliminates skipping and negative acceleration". I'm very glad to see that Razer do understand the real problems that a gaming mouse can have. But the question is: have Razer got it right with the DeathAdder? We answer that question in this comprehensive mouse review.

ETPro 3.2.6 Released

After two test releases, it's time for another official release of ETPro.
Besides support for ET 2.60b, version 3.2.6 brings us 6 new crosshairs, "Competition Fueldump" and a non-cheatprotected cg_centertime. The most welcome bugfix among nVidia users should be the workaround fixing the non displaying commandmap icons on 91.xx drivers.

MS to reintroduce IME 3.0

Microsoft revealed in a press release this morning that they are going to reintroduce one of the most popular mouse used by gamers due to popular demand. The slightly redesigned and improved IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 will be released in October with a retail price of $39,95.

From the release:
QuoteMicrosoft’s IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0, built on the original IntelliMouse Explorer design, delivers maximum precision and superior control for gameplay on the PC. Its ergonomic design and wide footprint provide outstanding comfort and stability, and extraordinary tracking accuracy delivers superior reliability and performance, making this mouse ideal for gaming. With its new look and feel, IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 still has all the great features that gamers have been demanding and now includes improved mouse feet for smoother gliding.

“We are reintroducing IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 in response to the demand from PC gamers worldwide,” said Bill Jukes, product marketing manager for Microsoft Hardware. “People were literally carrying around their IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0s in protective glass cases, and rightly so — there isn’t a mouse on the market that can beat this design for comfortable play and precision for low-sensitivity first-person shooter games.”

New ET:QW interview

Paul Wedgewood, lead designer at Splash Damage, answered Chris Remo of Shacknews some questions about ET:QW, about it's gameplay and the technology used.

Here's a small teaser:
QuoteETQW is fundamentally built with the goal of creating gameplay where teamwork makes a significant difference in whether or not you complete objectives. The game is also unique in pitting asymmetrical forces against one another; It’s no longer just a choice between two similar but differently-named machine guns: the choice of whether to play Strogg or GDF is significant, the strategies are different, and the experience is different.
