Additional CIC7 CoD Trigger points

image: cic-header

The Call of Duty community has truly mobilised in the past 6 weeks to get themselves into gear for the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7. As such the tournament has passed the initial triggered prize points set for the tournament something the community should be very proud of, with that in mind using the same expansion prizing for the first 20 teams, we've expanded the prizing to 30 teams and have currently received money from 18 CoD teams!

The triggered points are as such:

3000 for 10 teams
4000 for 16 teams
5000 for 20 teams
6000 for 26 teams
7000 for 30 teams

Additionally a Gary Wilson sent a payment via paypal and forgot to leave any details about which team it was for, so he probably should contact me to let me know who to attribute that to! Teams should also remember that now the tournament is triggered there are no refunds, so please dont send money if you're not planning on coming (same for ET)!

I'd like to thank Vanner & Klieneman for all their hard work getting the teams into action to signup and pay, this is exactly what the CoD community needed and hopefully this will be the kickstart back into life the game needs.

All teams that have paid via bank transfer will see their status' updated next Tuesday (19th of January) so if you've paid, dont worry it just wont be updated until then - only the paypal transfers and bank transfers as of January 6th have been updated.

Rockit Welcome New ET Team

image: picture-13Formed as an ET team of friends more than a year ago, Germany rockit became home of several teams spread in a lot of games until now. With sending our TF2 team to an international LAN event (Assembly 2010) in about two weeks we've come surprisingly far in this time. Today we can announce something we only dreamed of before. Taking in a new team of the game we love was always planned and we took our time to choose the right one. Proud, honoured, extremely excited and highly motivated we welcome a team that you might connect with the name of The Last Resort or recently ButtonBashers representing the rockit brand within the Enemy Territory scene from now on.
  • Latvia rockit. Clown
  • Finland rockit. Matias
  • Belgium rockit. mAus
  • Spain rockit. Winghaven
  • Finland rockit. olBaa

As one of the oldest, most stable and most successful teams in ET, the new Europe rockit.ET players can already look back on a load of awards including top two placings at the last five Crossfire Challenges, top three placings in all EuroCups they have been part of and more recently winning the Intel Sunday Night Cup II. You think that's enough? They do not, as they are hungry for gold at the Crossfire INTEL Challenge 7 another time.

After the Xmas and New Year break the (now) Late Xmas Cup is about to pick up again as the first semi final game between EuropeChaos and EuropeRewind is getting played this tuesday. Rewind will be hungry for revenge as both teams already met in the groupstage in a rather onesided game where rewind barely stood a chance on ice and frostbite. Map elimination should speak in their favor however as they have eliminated both maps ever since and looked strong in their games against Europeindomitus and Hungarycave.

Ex-Tempus Moriendi Return for CiC7

The Polish CoD4 team that came fourth at CC5, the previous CoD LAN in the Crossfire Challenge series, is back for CiC7.

Those who still remember CC5 will surely know this is a line up with potential. For all those who don't, Crossfire
Crash
Strike
are some end-of-round pictures from the semi-finals against FatGames who went on to win the LAN. Surely a force to be reckoned with!

The line up remains the same as it was back at CC5:

Poland Rafal "crol" Duda
Poland Marcin "doomciak" Jesiotr
Poland Marcin "M4rko" Marczuk
Poland Jakub "iVaneK" Prusak
Poland Piotr "reaktiv" Przylubski

Reaktiv gave Crossfire the following statement:
QuoteHello crossfire reader. After a year break of playing together, me and my friends decided to make a comeback to the scene. The main reason for that was the announcement of the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 back in December. We can say that CIC7 had an impact on our decision to start to play again. We would like to keep playing the game for a few months from now on, but it all depends on our current situation, as we are in need of an organisation that would help us in our trip to Holland, and later in both online and offline competitions. If any organisation would like to help us in our goal, please contact with doomciak via xfire: doompl or with me via e-mail: reaktiv[at]tlen.pl or IRC /msg reaktiv. Thanks, and wish us gl!

The team is looking for a new home and we wish them good luck in their search, and hopefully see them perform at CiC7 in early March.

YYT.CoD4 Switches Teams

More YoYoTech news this week, this time about the CoD4 team again. After we saw Germany Lukz parting ways with the British MGC and leaving the team with only four players, the management decided it was more beneficial to them to drop the team altogether and look for a whole new line up.

That new line up turns out to be the old oXmoze team, five French top players who were searching for financial backing for CiC7 since their previous MGC didn't provide them with enough support.

The French side will attend the French Spirit LAN after which they will head over to Enschede for the CiC7 in early March.

The new YoYoTech lineup for CoD4 now becomes:

France Kévin "FRENCHY" Héraudet
France Antoine "JooKzZi" Dumontet
France Léonard "RUKKAE" Alzeto
France Antonin "OZWALD" Grenier
France Marc "vazy" Berthold

Just another stunning playoff match on the way. In this loserbracket match of round 1 we can be sure to see two teams fight until the very last second. As the loser is out of the competition!

Match will be played Tuesday with first round radar fullholded by TAG

Estonia nOu was sent to the loser bracket by Croatia Guarana who yesterday got beaten by Finland Dickheads in a close 3 mapper. Europe TAG faced earlier mentioned Finland Dickheads and for sure want revenge at a later point!

IW Started Working on CoD MMO

image: 2gx4v9iInfinity Ward has started developing a massively multiplayer online game, possibly for the Call of Duty series.

Activision who partnered up with Blizzard two years ago are looking to replicate some of Blizzard's subscription profits with its other big series.

Destructoid reported that Infinity Ward will continue developing annual instalments of the Call of Duty franchise, while working on their first MMO title alongside of them. It's uncertain whether the MMO will be in the Call of Duty universe, but since Infinity Ward hasn't made any other game than the Call of Duties, one could assume this is the case.

The Modern Warfare developer is said to be calling in the help of ex-World of WarCraft and EverQuest II devs - including the latter's lead designer - to help get is first MMO game off the ground.

It became very clear with the release of Modern Warfare 2 that Infinity Ward does not support competitive gaming, and therefore the scene has lost faith in the developer. But could an MMO be of any use to the competitive community?

QuoteBy just looking at the lineups, I'd say that Dickheads is the clear favourite for this match and unless Guarana got some amazing teamplay, Dickheads should win it. 4-0

idle.ee returns

Just voted as "Team you hope will return 2009" the mighty name of Estonia idle.ee Enemy Territory is brought back to life after two years of silence. For this unique and mostly anticipated return they picked the well known faces from their glory past - but let the lineup speak for itself:

We will be able to see Estonia idle.ee in all upcoming preparation competitions such as the Crossfire Intel ESL Challenge, the ESL 5on5 Ladder and many more to come!

And last but not least here goes the statement of the returning idle.ee dream team:
QuoteDesperate times call for drastic measures! As it seems our old home, team mamut.si, is now to be considered inactive and thus we have decided to return to our old roots at idle.ee. However, we are still lacking the proper financial support to fund our trip to the next Crossfire LAN, so consider this an appeal for help. We look forward to anyone contacting us regarding this matter and of course we are eager to play Enemy Territory once again!
