ClanBase EuroCup WB Semi-FInal

After a fairly close match Tuesday night between France H2K.TT and Netherlands KomaCrew we now move on to the second Winners Bracket Semi-Final.

CB EC XVII WB Semi-Final - 21:00 CET, 15:00 EST 22nd May - Dignitas vs eSuba - Crash, District

Europe Dignitas ran rampant of over Slovenia intense 25-10 and then had a close game against Finland CMAX.gg 25-20. After getting a second place LAN finish at the CGS in Birmingham last weekend with stand-in Germany L-King the under 18 United Kingdom Blackmane will return to Duty. In a match that resembles the I33 Finals map wise Dignitas will no doubt want to make amends for their CGS Finals defeat to Sweden Fnatic.

Czech Republic eSuba come into this match after two incredibly close matches firstly against Finland insidiae 25-23 and then against Benelux Sample This 28-26! With a recent disapointing final in the CODQCUP against Netherlands KomaCrew they will be looking to gain confidence with a victory here tonight.

I expect this one to run very close as both teams play well on Crash so it could be a tight finish on the Ultra Defensive District. Watch it Live on QuadV TV2 with Deman starting from 20:45 CET.

The Video on Deman is now available:

ETQW Patch 1.5 is Live

A few minutes ago Patch 1.5 for ET:QW on the PC was released. The patch includes various fixes and changes including UI and HUD changes, New Cvars and Spectator Modes, Ranked Server changes and XP Fixes as well as exploit fixes. Along with the 1.5 Patch also comes a new version of the ETQW SDK (Mod Developer Toolkit). More information on the various changes and improvements are below. The Official Competition Mod will also be released in the next few days.

User Interface Improvements[/b]]
QuoteWe’ve packed tons of small UI and HUD improvements into the 1.5 update, lots of which are the result of feedback from our players. We’ve added new customization options for turret lock-on warnings, so you can now get the full warning (beep and text), just the warning tone, just the HUD text, or nothing at all. Mine trigger warnings can similarly be toggled on or off and it’s also possible to set the size of the mine indicators on the HUD or turn those off completely.

The Limbo menu sees the addition of an Auto-Join button, which, as the name might imply, joins the team that is currently short in numbers. We also found that a lot of people didn’t quite understand the Hot Servers tab in the server browser, so we’ve thrown that out in favor of a much more straightforward ’Join Best Server’ button. The functionality is still the same, of course, so pressing that button will put you on an available server that’s close to you.

New Customization Cvars[/b]]
QuoteA lot of our players are really into the game and would like to customize as many aspects of it as possible. To that extent, 1.5 brings a variety of new cvars that can be used to really adapt the game to how you want it. It’s now possible to set mouse sensitivity on a per-vehicle basis, so if you’d like your mouse to be really twitchy in flying vehicles and far less responsive in, say, the Trojan APC, you can do just that. We’ve also included new cvars for quickly switching spawn points for those who want to avoid the limbo menu whenever possible.

Matchcasters will no doubt enjoy the new spectator mode functionality in 1.5. There are several new commands that allow spectators to switch to the next/previous player, and to directly hop to a specific client. You can also jump to players currently completing the objective, and even set a custom camera position and angle that you can hop to at the touch of a button.

Ranks and Statistics[/b]]
QuoteIn the statistics department, the in-game scoreboard once again correctly displays player ranks, so you can quickly tell who’s experienced and thus safe to follow around in the game. Vehicle and deployable kills are now counted correctly in your statistics, and there have also been a few smaller fixes related to objectives giving no or too much XP.

On the Ranked Server side, servers are now restricted to a maximum number of 24 players, since that is what the maps were balanced for. It’s also no longer possible to start a ranked match with fewer than six players.

Bot Improvements[/b]]
QuoteJohn Dean over at id Software has been busy teaching the ETQW bots new tricks for the upcoming console versions. We didn’t want our PC players to miss out on these, so 1.5 features a truly colossal number of bot-related improvements. In general, bots now understand the battlefield even better than before and will act more like a human player would. Your AI teammates have also been conditioned to pay more attention to what you’re doing and they’ll better support you in vehicles and when attacking objectives. There are loads of other bot-related fixes and improvements - check the changelog below for more.

Miscellaneous Fixes[/b]]
Quote1.5 also comes with a large number of bug and exploit fixes. Some of these are actually quite inventive, such as using the Third Eye Camera to transmit an objective when the player is actually nowhere near it, or using an Icarus vehicle drop to teleport inside a building. There were also several map holes that have now been plugged and number of smaller fixes that were made (such as the MCP sometimes dropping in sideways).

QuadV CoD4 Coverage Tonight

After an amazing Team Fortress 2 Final for the ETF2L Season 2 Cup last night we return to the Call of Duty 4 arena. The ClanBase EuroCup XVII is moving along at a quick pace now and the Winners Bracket Semi Finals look to be superb!

CB EC XVII WB Semi-Final - 21:00 CET 19th May - KomaCrew vs H2k.Thermaltake - Crash, District

image: crashbNetherlands KomaCrew are on fire at the moment despite having a few weeks rest while Netherlands Roman replaced every part of his pc to fix his lag. In the last round they got through with a close 25-20 against Finland Epsilon. They also took victory over Czech Republic eSuba last weekend in a somewhat disapointing final in the CODQCUP but Netherlands Svo assures me tonight will be much better!

France H2k.Thermaltake have had 2 close games to get through to this stage beating the 2 main german teams Germany Speed-Link 25-22 and then beating Germany SK-Gaming 25-20. I believe this will be another tight match for them.

Watch it all Live on QuadV TV1 with Deman at 21:00 CET

feruS & Blaze drafted

Two of Crossfires prodigal son's have been drafted into CounterStrike Source teams at the CGS European combine!

Sweden feruS has been drafted into the Stockholm Magnetik which was a widely expected move having been playing with them for the entire draft. Having only just turned 18 he joins now as he couldnt previously. feruS was rated the #1 player who quit CS:S just months ago and returns to scene to instant acclaim, with both teams showing an interest in him.

Netherlands Blaze formerly of GMPO and MYSOD fame in RTCW has been picked up by the Berlin Allianz and leaves his long time teammates at Fnatic. Blaze recently returned to fnatic and his return saw the team's fortune rise with it, Fnatic were expected last year to be drafted in as a team for the CGS however were not at the expense of NoA. They will again feel upset not to have been drafted having won the CS:Source tournament at the event this weekend.

By being drafted the players are now salaried to play for their team and will be headed of to Los Angeles to play live on DirecTV this summer.

You can see the full rosters on The CGS Site

CGS fnatic win!

image: cgs_logo_2The Championship Gaming series UK & European combine is underway at Omega Sektor in Birmingham. The tournament has drawn the worlds best in CS:Source, DOA, FIFA & Forza however for Crossfire our eyes are glued to both the CoD4 tournament and Crossfire favourite Sweden feruS who is hottly tipped to get drafted into either of the CS:Source teams!

The tournaments are just about to start and the seeds have trickled out though they're a little sketchy at the moment. We have confirmation that Fnatic are seeded 1st & Dignitas are seeded second, with Spain Wizzards (aka blacksouls) third and then L3 in fourth. There are 15 teams in total, with another notable name being Reason Gaming. There is unfortunately no streaming of the tournament.

feruS watch has begun with the Swede giving his best interview yet which will be uploaded to TheCGS.com this weekend which will fuel the fire that is the tug of war between the Berlin Allianz and Stockholm Magnetik both of whom will want to pick up the player who has just turned 18 and thus old enough to play in the CGS. The prize is a full contract for him to the team and he will compete both locally and live on DirecTV in LA later this summer.

We'll be keeping you updated with the results as soon as they become available, though the tournament isnt due to start for a little while.

Update

FeruS has played and won his first game with the Stockholm Magnetik though it is expected he may be picked up by Berlin for a challenge match also.
