ESL Major Series Season II announced

image: ems
The first season of the ESL Major Series (EMS) are still underway, but that doesn't stop ESL from announcing the second season. There is no date set to when the qualifiers begin, but it's said that "details will be following in the next days and weeks".

QuoteWe are extremely happy to announce a second season of the ESL Major Series powered by ASUS. Like the first season, the ESL Major Series will feature a wide selection of games across the FPS, RTS and Sports genres. We also have great prizes to win in a raffle! The ESL Major Series (EMS) are a collection of Pro Leagues situated a step below our highest competitions, the Pro Series and Masters.

The majority of games selected for the second season are carried over from the first, where possible using the latest release of a game's series. This season will have a distribution of €15,000 plus hardware prizes!

The ESL Major Series Season II games and prizes:[/b]]
- Call of Duty 4 (5on5): €1.500
- Counter-Strike: Source (5on5): €3.000
- Counter-Strike: 1.6 Female (5on5): €1.000
- Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (Clanwar): €1.000
- Defense of the Ancient (5on5): €1.500
- Enemy Territory (6on6): €1.000
- FIFA 08 (Clanwar): €2.000
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (1on1): Hardware prizes
- Team Fortress 2 (6on6): €1.500
- Unreal Tournament 3 (Clanwar): €1.500 + Hardware prizes for MVPs

As you can see both Crossfire-favourites CoD4 and W:ET got included but not ET:QW. The decision to exclude ET:QW must've been due to lack of signups for season I. However, ESL only got themselves to blame for that as they didn't do any advertising for ET:QW EMS other then here on Crossfire which must be seen as a giant mistake as the ET:QW-community on Crossfire still was growing and nowhere near reaching out to everyone. Adding to that the information and pretty much everything concearning the first season was everything but good which made many look the other way, especially as the CB OpenCup offered similiar prize purse and was played at the same time.

Either way, I'll try to keep you updated with information from the ESL EMS season II as it comes.

EC Golden Final!

image: rubbishhhhh

For all the viewers who saw Sunday’s ET match, they were witness of a tremendous battle between two giants. The outcome of the match is known by all by now, EDiT won with an earned 4 – 2 victory. Though this didn’t mean they became instantly the champion. Since mPg was able not to lose any match (until this Sunday), and because of the fact they were the winner of the winnersbracket, a second final has to decide who will be the eventual winner of this match. That’s why we are tuning in tonight once more, with the everlasting decision of who will be this EC’s final winner.

Match info:
Date: 18 / 12 / 2007
Time: 22.00 CET
Coverage: http://www.gamestv.org/war.php?wid=3665

Shoutcast: QuadV TosspoT

I’ve asked both teams for a little statement:
Quote by snoopI can't really predict our chances. The skill between EDiT and us should be kinda equal so I guess the shape of today and a bit of luck will decide the game.

Quote by oliWell everyone knew the lads were the under dogs at the beginning of the match.. except me, i knew they could pull of a result and they did. The fact that they lost goldrush by 2 seconds says it all. They definetly have it in them to win it and i'm confident they will.

The best of luck to both teams!

ET QCUP - Semi Finals *UPDATE*

As we come closer to the finals of the QCUP, we see four top teams competing for gold, glory, and 500 euros! Our semi finalist teams include german giants Germany megaprogaming, who can be seen in the EuroCup final tonight at 21:00 CET, who will be facing none other than ET stars Estonia idle. On the other side of the bracket, we can see the clash of Europe The Last Resort vs Europe aMenti, a game of old vs new, and both will certainly excite the spectators.

[(if it's TLR vs amenti)]
My prediction for the game is a 4:2 win for TLR, obviously Amenti have been a fantastic squad who have won everything however i think most now concentrate on other games and their level will have dropped slightly, as long as we can contain some of their key players i think we should take this with it possibly going to a decider, adlernest being the relatively unknown factor here. I expect it to be a relatively tense game, obviously this is the new TLR squad vs the Old one, it will be interesting given some of the comments passed by some of the Amenti players at the TLR management, that could have added a little niggle to the game. Hopefully everyone gets to spectate a fantastic battle.

We are looking forward to our match versus idle and even though they have been inactive for some time, there is no way we would underrate them. These guys have played together for such a long time that their teamplay has developed to a level only few teams could ever reach. Nevertheless we will try our best to win and hope the spectators will enjoy this match.

A personal good luck to all teams from myself, and to you a recommendation to spectate, as these games are certainly not to be missed!

Due to various misunderstandings, the semifinal with vs TLR will still be played this thursday at 21cet, however their opponent is still undecided.

Arctic Treasure Hunt is Live!

Crossfire sponsors Game-Hosting are running their second arctic treasure hunt. The last hunt was a big success for the ET community with many winning prizes, some may also remember this event as there was the singing contest in it which featured many of ET's finest voices.

Heres the info on the new hunt;

ETQW QCUP - Semi finals tonight, live on QuadV

image: v4
Tuesday night is fight night in the ETQW QCUP and in what looks to be the most exiting round so far we have 4 teams wanting to advance to the 250 euro final. So get your popcorn ready, put your feet on the table and relax as Quadv and TosspoT brings you the semi finals (or at least one of them) of the ETQW QCUP.

Europe Dignitas 4-0 United Kingdom Four-Kings
Time: Tuesday 19.30 CET
Stream: N/A
Maps: Island and Area 22
Takens take[/b]]
In the first match of the evening we have the 1st and 5th seed of the ETQW QCUP clashing together in what should be an exciting match, but with a clear favorite. Dignitas have been playing rock solid lately, winning all there is to win of officials so far in retail ETQW. Four-kings also have a good track record and wining versus Greece GROF in the second European ESL EMS qualifier is the highlight so far. Some might argue that Four-Kings have yet to play the best in the big leagues and thats true to some extent. Four-Kings have not had the change to prove them selfs after joining the Four-kings organization, but that does not automatically make them a lesser team. But as the seeding suggest, (partly done by me, so not the best reference) Dignitas is the best team going to this match and should win it 4-0 if they are able to perform at their normal standard. And Four-Kings needs to step up their game if they want to win the match. A factor that might tip the match even more in Dignitas favor is that key Four-Kings player United Kingdom Fenda is away on holiday and Four-Kings might even be forced to play the match with a merc. My final prediction: 4-0 to Dignitas, but I hope to see Four-Kings step up and perform at their best and give Dignitas a hard fight for the spot in the final.

Sweden Kompaniet 4-0 Sweden EYEBALLERS
Time: Tuesday 21.00 CET
Coverage: QuadV.com with TosspoT (direct link tba)
Maps: Island and Area 22
Takens take[/b]]
In the second semi final we have an all out Swedish battle. The two top Swedish teams will not only battle it out for a spot in the final, but also for the crown of Sweden Sweden. Last time these two met, in the Swedish ESL EMS qualifier, Kompaniet was able to secure a 4-2 victory. Back then EYE won Area 22, Kompaniet won Island and Sewer. For this cup Kompaniet is seeded second and EYE third. But things have changed since then and while Kompaniet have been crushing their opponents lately, EYE have had some big problems. In the ETQW Nordic Championship EYE just lost to the all star mix team "BUBU" (consisting of players from Dignitas, H2k and infinity), in EMS EYE only managed a draw versus underdogs Poland Frag Executers and gave walk over versus France Creative. So there is a big question mark behind the mighty EYE tag at the moment, will EYE be able to bounce back or will this match be another failure? In light of the recent trouble for EYE and the maps being played I predict a 4-0 win for Kompaniet. But EYE is a team packed with talent and if there is anyone that is able to pull off a big upset, its them.

War§ow QCup - Quarterfinals

image: v4

We've moved yet another step towards the finals. Now eight players remain that may take home the prizes. First of all, the deadline is not monday but Tuesday midnight. I changed this date because I was late with the updates for the cups and players were unable to see who they had to play in this round, therefore I thought an additional 24 hours delay is in order.

I am happy to announce that this round will see the start of game commentary from me. I am going to try to get coverage to all the four games of this round so if all the players would please contact me about their match times then I'd appriciate it.

Anyway, good luck and have fun in the quarterfinals.

CoD4 QCUP - Quarterfinals

image: v4

The heat is on as we're drawing closer to the quarterfinals of the Crossfire QCUP Call of Duty 4 tournament! Eight clans have fought valiant battles and emerged victoriously over no less than fifty six other clans. Their path of glory can be found in the the updated brackets and fixtures.

Furthermore we have the pleasure to announce that United Kingdom Jay over at QuadV will be bringing you the quarterfinal match of Germany Legendary against United Kingdom 4Kings LIVE on Sunday December 16th at 9 GMT / 22:00 CET! Don't forget to tune in, because this is one hell of a showdown you don't want to miss! We've asked both United Kingdom [4K^corp] and Germany legendaryhumML for a short statement on the QCUP and their upcoming match.

TeK-9 back to 5

CoD Giants TeK-9 are back to 5 and are rocking and rolling once again. The WSVG CoD2 champions had been without a full lineup since the release of CoD4 and were trialling numerous players to fit the bill of being a TeK-9 player.

Today they've confirmed their additions as being none other than Netherlands haya & Finland kammYz. haya had left the organisation to focus on school work, however has revoked that decision and returned to the lineup once again. kammYz is something of a blast from the CoD past as he brought success to oldschool CoD1 lineup eyeballers.
