Crossfire Allstar Team

image: qconxfire
With the Crossfire appeal still ongoing, preperations are underway to fly the flag for Europe! Not since 2002 has an American team won the Wolfenstein series tournament at Quakecon, and just because time and money are against us, dosent mean we will be beaten this year! With prizemoney on the line it is our duty to return home champions of the "Nvidia Championships".

The time has come to get the team prepared and for the event! In order to do so we must select our allstars, to do this there will be a partial voting system for the Crossfire users. There is a great amount of popularity politics involved within every thing online and so a 100% vote will cause issues, so Crossfire Admins will select 3 players for the team and will then offer a vote. A separate double vote for the remaining two players to complete the five man allstar lineup.
Should xfires first choice engineer be unavailable, the engineer role will go to the public vote also.

This thread is designed to open up the field to your opinions for who should be up for the public vote. The two invite positions will cover one field op and one medic. The vote on the remaining two players who will be generally medics.
The vote will go live on MONDAY with the announcement of the two invitations and the votes going live on the site.

Crossfire has been informed that the Estonian teams from last year were able to get their visa within 1 week and thus we will be offering the oppourtunity for them to compete in the vote.

The floor is open! Please make your recommendations and to players being listed please indicate if you are unavailable.

Quakecon....Who goes, You decide!

This is based on the pressumption (and conversation) that idle are attempting to attend Quakecon themselves.

Call of Duty 2 An eSport opportunity of a life time?

Recently there has been hot activity in the World Series of Video Games (WSVG) forums after zephiwho posted a request to the WSVG staff to consider giving Call Of Duty 2 an oppertunity to prove it self worthy. By giving CoD2 the same oppertunity such as Day Of Defeat and Counter-strike Source has allready had, even with a smaller user base than what CoD2 now has, you could possibly see CoD2 as an official tournament hosted by WSVG in the near future.

CoD2 has a very impressive lan scene and the demand is even greater than the supply. For the Outpost Lan, a non-byoc event in Belgium with a prize pot of €2,750, the 24 spots sold out in 54 minutes and the organisers claim they could have got over 60 teams if they had the space. Another example is the Netgamez Lan where CoD2 had a small byoc event with only €600 for the winners but despite this, 42 teams showed up. It would be a smart move for WSVG to exploit this untapped source and with a large number of European CoD2 teams with serious financial backing you could expect large numbers at an event anywhere in the world.

Info on WSVGimage: wsvg
The World Series of Video Games (WSVG) is the first video game competition circuit on multiple gaming platforms that culminates in final rounds at which true world champions emerge. The WSVG spans eight separate 3-5 day events that will be open to the public and will encompass 150,000 square feet of tournaments, exhibitions, concerts and other attractions, to appeal to a broad audience that includes hardcore and casual gamers. To create the ultimate circuit of competitive events, the WSVG has established partnerships with major competition leagues including CPL, Lanwar and Dreamhack, bringing together PC and Xbox game communities for the first time. The WSVG is working with these leagues to develop a set of unified rules and regulations, and to elevate competitive gaming as a sport and a profession. Sponsors currently include Intel and Xbox, with more to be announced soon.

The WSVG was founded by Games Media Properties, the leader worldwide in the organization of video game competitions, tournaments and festivals. The company operates the world’s largest touring video game festival, GameRiot, which is now in its fourth season and has been held in over 70 cities, attracting over 350,000 attendees per year. Matt Ringel is the President and CEO and Scott Valencia is the Executive Vice President of Games Media Properties. Ringel is one of the top packagers of games-based content for corporate sponsorship and television, and has extensive relationships and experience in the video game industry. Valencia has been involved with nearly every major competitive gaming event over the last nine years on an international level.

How can you support this action?
CS 1.6 is the current B I G Team FPS game on the marked, but could CoD2 MAYBE become a strong contender?

If your answer is yes, then you should really grip this oppertunity to help CoD2 in to the big eSport scenes!
Please head to the official WSVG forum and post why you think CoD2 should have a chance in WSVG:

GGL Writes Quakecon ET Preview!

image: gglxfireThe Global Gaming league has written a thrilling article, packed with 3 interviews about the upcoming Quakecon ET tournament.

Written by none other than ET Golden Boy Netherlands Remao "Cash" Tummers the article features lengthly interviews with Germany Urtier, United States of America Spartan and United Kingdom TosspoT.

QuoteThe "Wolfenstein" games have been heavily underrated ever since "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" was released. Despite being considered one of the toughest, yet most brilliant team-based games out there, it never hit it off as a full blown gaming discipline featured at the big gaming events around the world.

Except for one: QuakeCon. This year again an "Enemy Territory" tournament with $35,000 on the line will attract the very best of America and Europe to Dallas.

Qlasics picks up another team

image: qBetween all the great newsposts about the Xfire LAN and Quakecon I am going to post an announcement about the new Enemy Territory team of Europe #Qlasics. It has been a small month since Israel the last Enemy Territory team joined the multigaming clan, but that team had problems and fell quite fast (Not within two weeks however). The team in question is called Europe Team ANAL.

Here is a statement from Qlasics manager Netherlands Sainted:
A few days ago #Qlasics was contacted by Team ANAL about joining #Qlasics as new Enemy Territory team after our prevorious team collapsed a small week ago. After reviewing the clan I was impressed by the players, most have at least some OC Premier experience, three players from national teams and some EuroCup qualifying players as well. Despite of the funny name I think this team has a great future ahead and #Qlasics is delighted to welcome them into our organisation.

And this is the statement from team captain Italy diO:
We want to get the top positions of the european scene, with this roster we can achieve that but we need to practise and improve a lot. We are going for the EuroCup next year, like every other skilled clan ofcourse. We are training a lot now and we are starting to play on high level, with not just skill but also a lot of experience to support us achieve our goals. We hope joining #Qlasics will be a big step in reaching the top.

The current roster of #Qlasics and some of the ex clans of the players:
Roster:
Italy DiO (Team Italy, explosionC4)
Poland sOme (Fear Factory ATI, Team Poland)
Poland krisek (Warriors of Wolfenstein, Team Poland)
Netherlands saKen (Excelency)
Estonia dRaakon (insta-Gods)
Portugal arci (Team Portugal, Team Southern Europe, European Allstars)
Poland vEG (dFIANCE)
Poland uf0l (dFIANCE)

You can get in contact with the clan at #Qlasics and on www.Qlasics-Gaming.com

Crossfire announces first LAN!

image: xfindent3cf
Crossfire, the home of online Wolfenstein and Call of Duty is proud to announce the inaugural Crossfire Prizefight Challenge with 6,000 Euro's in cash prizes to be won!
On the weekend of the 2nd of September 2006, 8 Enemy Territory teams and 12 Call of Duty 2 teams will battle it out for 3,000 Euro's in each tournament at the TGS Gaming center in Rotterdam, Holland.

This initial release is to give competitors some basic information to start making preparations, a full press release will be issued in the coming week.
[img|left]http://images.filecloud.com/207258/tgs4.png[/img]
Over two days, teams will compete a tournament structure that will guarantee 2 games or more per team at a cost of 30 Euros per player, and 1 Euro per spectator. Signups for the tournament will go live next week, and following the sign ups Crossfire will hand pick the participants based on Skill and Stability. Should ET signups and payment exceed initially expectancy, Crossfire will look into adding two additional places.
Teams will then be given until August 1st to make their entry payment until their slot is offered to other teams. The event will not support BYOC, Call of Duty will be played 5on5 and the team size of the Enemy Territory tournament will be open for debate on site until the press release next week.
image: pf1_final
The event is proudly sponsored by PrizeFight and The Games Syndicate and supported by PCGear.nl. Inside the Game will be onsite to provide coverage for both tournaments! Over the coming weeks Crossfire will be changing to incorporate our new sponsors, and will be adding functionality for the event itself in the upcoming release of Crossfire version 3 in August.

The Crossfire Appeal Begins!

image: cfapp_f
Crossfire, the home of online Wolfenstein has today announced that it will be spearheading a fund raising appeal to send a European based Enemy Territory squad to compete at Quakecon 2006. After the announcement on July 12th that there would be a $30,000 5on5 ET Tournament, many European players and teams looked unlikely to go due to the large travel bill required in such a short period of time.

However Crossfire plans to raise in excess of 5,000 Euros to fund the greatest 5 ET players in Europe to travel to Dallas and return home with the Gold! Since its creation in 2002, Crossfire has flown the flag for the Wolfenstein series and with one of its most prestigious events now upcoming, its time to make sure there's a piece of Crossfire at the Con!

How does the appeal work?

Crossfire has on average above 10,000 unique users per day on the site. If each user donated just 1 euro we'd raise 10,000 Euros and be able to send two teams! In reality the likelihood of that is slim, however if every other user gives just 1 euro we can send a team across to Dallas! All users who donate will be entered into a prize draw that involves the upcoming unannounced Crossfire event, and take their place on the Crossfire hall of fame.

What happens if we win?

In Enemy Territory history, Europeans can count only 1 defeat to an opponent from outside its borders on LAN, and, with a flailing North American community, the chances of a cash placing are extremely high. So, what would Crossfire do if it won that money? Give it back to the community! Once paid Crossfire would run a tournament with the prize money, minus costs for its community - be that online or on lan - thus offering the community at least one more large cash tournament based in Europe. Consider it an investment in your games future!

Who picks the team?

YOU! Crossfire will give the opportunity to its community to select its own team to represent the site and community and fly the flag for old "Belgian blue".

Advertisement & Corporate

Want a place on the Crossfire hall of fame? Crossfire will publish a full list of all donations from users and keep it on the site. In addition, organisations and companies wishing to sponsor or invest are more than welcome to get involved in return for large exposure within the site. The high chance of success for a European team means that this is a ripe investment opportunity from which large contributors may wish to make a return. Should this be the case, do feel free to mail TosspoT.
