vae.et call it a day

swine brings us the news that vae.etis no more. Here's what he had to say on vae website

Quote"Seven months ago, six guys came together and founded the ET-Squad of Vicious and Evil. They started practicing and aimed high. They wanted to get into Eurocup XIII whether they get a direct invite or they have to play the qualifier. It took some time until they were able to compete with the other european teams that gathered to play Eurocup aswell, but it worked out pretty well in the end. They won their qualifier, moved into this year's EC and had some intense matches versus clans like Estonia idle.ee, Poland polewka, Europe Northern Darkness or Europe Team-Helix and whatnot, whether it was on Clanbase, Warleagues or in the ESL Spring-Cup whose Semifinal was shown on GiGa-eSports. Nevertheless it was not enough to ascend to the Playoffs.

Some of the guys lost their motivation because it was the last official game they had to play, they were sad that all the practise was not enough to get further in the cup and plain-talking it was the last big cup for months and practicing without something to practice for is simply not an option.

So biqq, by mutual consent of the other members, decided to close the squad."

idle charge into the final!

image: ecxiii_logo
Idle have charged into the Eurocup Final for a second season in a row after one of the most thrilling matches in ET history.

In a three map contest Estonia idle started out on Axis on Goldrush, conceding the objective in just over 7 minutes, questions were to be raised about idle. 4 minutes and 3 seconds later answers were given in a truely stunning offensive display.

Moving onto Europe Demiurge's map choice of Frostbite, the Scandinavians clawed their way back into the game after a shaky start. They lost the first stage very quickly after an idle push through the side forced a defensive move from Demi. However stunning defensive displays by Belgium Xionn and Finland Tiigeri in particular held idle off for 9 minutes after many phenomenal document chases!

Demiurge moved onto offence with a healthy time to attack, and looked in good shape as they picked up the documents with about 6 minutes to go. However Estonia Night was to have the last laugh as he satchel charged the command post and force Demiurge all the way back and cost them 2 to 3 minutes of attack. However when the documents reached safe hands with Xionn he took his time and took us into a third map.

When eliminating maps idle were given the choice of radar or adlernest. Radar the logical choice one would think, with a quick memory to nights panzerfaust against Parodia, but Adlernest it was to be. Idle were held off by Demiurge for 7 whole minutes and the pendulum looked to have swung all the way into the Scandinavians hands. After a positive first stage and several document grabs it was Xionn with 3 minutes left on the clock who collected the documents.
Some 2 minutes and 50 seconds later Xionn emerged from the Command Post in a do or die situation, heart in mouth he charged for the transmitter but it was senji who stood firm and screamed "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"

These few paragraphs do the game no justice and I urge you to watch the game as demos become available!

xKOTH reaches round 3

image: koth24bp
It might be EuroCup night, but the idle - demi game is by no means the only game of any significance tonight.

After a dramatic 11th hour departure from the ET scene, helix decided to inform me that they could not play. Could not play despite the fact the match was tomorrow, despite the fact GIGA were showcasing the game, despite the fact that all the ETTV and shoutcasters had been booked a week in advance. The words that no game supervisor wants to hear were uttered, and so began the cleanup operation.

Helix were due to be challenged by riZe, who quite understandably last night did not believe they had a game to play anymore, with the comp channel topic simply reading "Match cancelled". But as the saying goes, the show must go on, and tonight is no exception. riZe have been bursting a gut to be able to play tonight, and to them we must give great thanks. But we still had to find a last-moment opponent! Step in Highbot from stage-left to salvage the night, and to set up a thoroughly respectable and action-packed night!

image: beta8ow [img|left]http://www.warning-team.org/users/foonr/hb.jpg[/img]Thus we see highBot against riZe fighting for the crown and striving to prove a point: Highbot have just reformed from Palmarium, but riZe have also made significant progress in the EuroCup, and will be looking to send a message to the remaining teams.

image: game658 The match starts an hour before the EC game of idle vs demiurge, and with a whopping 3 shoutcasters, not forgetting GIGAII coverage, there has never been a better reason to either tune in to ETTV or connect your ETTV server up to the matchserver.

Helix.et are no more

image: hx

It is said that all great things have to come to an end, but surely few would have predicted the demise of the most current Europe helix roster, who having emerged from the razz scandal to record strong victories over Polewka, elite and northern darkness, including their involvement in the Crossfire King of the Hill competition, for which they were scheduled to make their second defense for the title tonight.

However that is all in the past. The reality is that helix.et do not now formally exist, BUT the hx - riZe KOTH game tonight will go ahead, the match will be riZe vs HIGHBOT.

Helix will release a statement shortly.

The final lineup was:

Germany MurDa
Germany sNoOp!
Germany ramiN
Latvia Clown
Germany/Poland Riddla
Switzerland Rapt6rr

#Qlasics is proud to present our new ET lineup

Qlasics have picked themselves up a new squad, Manager Sainted had this to say:

QuoteAs a manager of Europe #Qlasics my task is to find the best teams to compete under our nametag. Slowly we are getting more potentially great squads under our name, like our Finland CSS and Netherlands CoD2 squads. We recently announced our newest sponsor Hyperized, which will sponsor the clan with game servers for a few of our squads, along with a lot of other support.
Our latest addition in squads, is our new Enemy Territory team. We basically contacted this team to fill in the gap of our current ET team, which is disbanding after the OC. Previously known as Israel Overboost.ET. Oh yes, they are pretty new, but I feel this team has a large chance to become a major team in the upcoming months. With players from well known clans like Israel eSrael and Israel insanity, I think this team will get pretty far, if they can survive the Enemy Territory two weeks pressure.

Here is the line-up of #Qlasics - overboost:

Israel L1quiD (Ex WiN)
Israel sunn (Ex aD)
Israel ozz (Ex insanity)
Israel stonji (Ex outraged.eu)
Israel elfa (Ex eSrael)
Israel falcore (Ex eSrael)
Israel radox (Ex 0point)

We hope this team will cross the two weeks limit many clans keep walking up against.. And please give us some support ;)

EuroCup Semifinal 1

image: ecfinal0it So then, we've arrived at the semi-final stage of EuroCup XIII, in what has been an absorbing competition despite the lack of last season's winners Parodia/uQ, and now we are left with the four best teams in ET at current.

Last night saw riZe beating maybe eventually after multiple ping problems and emo jokes, to confirm riZe's presence in the last 4 alongside the likes of Idle.ee, deMiurge, and northern darkness. The turnaround is a quick one, and only 3 days after the last quarter final, ClanBase propells itself into the next phase, scheduling the first semi-final between Idle and demiurge for tomorrow (Wednesday June 21st) with a view to finishing the tournament before the start of July. Idle reached this stage by virtue of overcoming genuine EC contenders 141, and in deMi they face perhaps their hardest game of all. The Estonians may well be classed as favourites, but only a foolish man would class demiurge as underdogs.

Many thanks go to United Kingdom Adacore, who kindly delayed this match by a staggering 2 hours so the hx - riZe game could take precedent.

Finally foonr would like to make the following public service annoucement. He does in no way bear any resemblance to this man. At all.

Snatch2 - Competition Version

Mortis has been hard at work in his mapscript workshop breathing life into a map that has great potential, but needs some work before it's perfect: Snatch2. Last week, he released the bugfix version, but this week comes the first stab at re-engineering the map for competition. This script is designed for use under etpro, although newer etpub versions might be able to handle it. The script does not work on clients, only on servers!

Snatch 2 : Competition Version - beta1

http://images.quakewarsterritory.com/mortis/snatch2.zip

Summary of changes:

All MG nests removed
All truck barriers removed (making it parts-truck-wall-escape or wall-parts-truck-escape)
Removed bridge / bridge build points
More autospawn tweakage (irrelevant to comp)
Allied - Axis spawntimes set to 20/30 instead of 15/30
Map time reduced from 20mins to 15 mins (reduced to accomodate removed barriers)
Began process to remove health/ammo cabs (not sure how many to keep remove)
CP spawns fixed
Autospawns fixed

Future changes:

remove some/all health cabinets?
remove some teamdoors to speed Axis travel times?
make truck easier to damage?

Mortis need feedback on where to go from here...maybe the next supplydepot is in the works?

Underscore Give the Finger!

Underscore who recently gave RiZe a run for their money in their last Eurocup match were set to rock and roll with a new lineup for the summer, however things took a turn for the worse this evening.

I caught up with Hungary CS4f1 for a word on the clans closing and found out it wasnt the 2 Weeks reason that many of us might have expected, no no. The problem that is plaguing our game to its roots has claimed another victim!

QuoteThe main problem in underscore was the regular one. We have/had guys who could not decide that they wanna play or not. That happened several times in our team, old time ago too. So for example, some days the guy wanna play, and "let's pracc....", on other days "I hate this game, I wanna sleep, I dont care about this....". It's very hard to play if you know that your teammate doesn't care about the game at that moment. I don't wanna tell you names now, i just wanna tell you, that he was one of our Hungarian members. We did not have enough energy to replace that guy, because he was one of our best players, and the only guy who could replace him was Future who is playing WoW nowadays. And we didn't wanna make another recruitment again, because, this was not the only problem.
