ET:QW Interview with Ed Bongoboy Stern: Senior Game Designer

GameArena, a service provided by the biggest telco in Australia, and home of Australia's Wolf:ET community, recently had a short Q&A with one of ET:QW's senior designers, Ed Stern, who worked on Wolf:ET.

Taken from Q&A:

Quote"GameArena was recently afforded the opportunity to quiz the developers of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars for a bit of juice on their hotly anticipated multiplayer first person shooter. So we hit-up the gaming community and put together five questions pertinent to online gamers and FPS aficionados which have now been comprehensively answered by Splash Damage Senior Game Designer, Ed Stern. "

The Q&A includes questions such as how ET:QW will differ from BF2, what the netcode will be like/being better ready for online play than Q4, anticheat and whether or not ET:QW will strive to include popular community (Bani) provided features such as a competition mod and ETTV.

Q&A session can be found here

ET:QW Paul Wedgwood (SD Founder) Interview

Paul "Locki" Wedgewood is the Lead Game Designer and Managing Director at Splash Damage. Who is also responsible for creating Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Paul had a short chat with "Firingsquad" about the upcoming Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

A welcome sign for all ET and RTCW enthusiasts comes in the shape of full mod support by Spashdamage and a vision for equality amongst the classes, with vehicles not dominating the battlefield.

Here’s a few extracts of interest:

QuoteETQW’s character class structure is similar to Wolf ET. Both the Strogg and GDF feature infiltration, assault, defence and support roles. However, a significant goal for the game is that the GDF and Strogg don’t just look different, but more importantly, play different. All of their tools, abilities, weapons and vehicles reflect their different technology and culture, so their asymmetric capabilities dictate different approaches to combat.

xtrazone finds a new home in cZar

Yesterday the Belgian Eurocup team Belgium xtrazone announced its move to multigaming clan cZar.

You might recall this clan for its succesful CoD2 team in the past. With other squads in Warcraft3, CS, BF2, etc and a healthy financial base this new home is quite fitting for the ambitious team that was xtrazone.

Ofcourse very excited about their move to a somewhat famous name as cZar, teamleader cZar|dNzl had the following to say.

Our eye has fallen on this organisation because cZar is a known clan with a good management and teams. This should be a good step for both sides. By this I mean that we will grow as a team in the ET-scene, and that cZar will be represented on both offline and online events in the ET-scene.

Their line-up will remain the same, being:

Belgium dNzl
Belgium snot
Belgium lioco
Belgium mesq
Belgium kevin
Belgium acid
Belgium guest

Best of luck to both sides in the future and a happy cooperation!
