The NxM Cup Goes Raw

image: xfirelogo

Tonight sees the second round of action in Group B of the NxM Cup. As the newly formed uQ Gaming team look to prove that they can live up to their predecesors. Though this competition got off to a bad start for uQ, with a default loss to Poland WoW in the first round leaving them languishing down at the foot of the table. They face a Finish team who are also desperate to pick up points after an opening round defeat to Italy n1ce.

The NxM Cup is unique in its foresight, based around a refreshing map list including the likes of Adlernest_b7, Braundorf_b4 and Raw_te.

With tonight showcasing Raw_te live on ETTV. Will this map prove good enough for competition play?

1 Blow up the Main Wall and secure the Forward Spawn
2 Destroy the Castle Main Door
3 Blow up the Vault Door guarding the Documents.
4 Steal the secret Documents
5 Transmit the Documents

Cup admin NxM had this to say about the inclusion of Raw_te
Quote
Before the Cup was announced I tested it with NightRaver and FlyingDJ and we all agreed it had enough potential to be at least tested in the Cup. It's a nice map with multiple attack routes and the possibility for diverse tactics.

uQ`Sexyhot is of this opinion
QuoteRaw_te is a really small map, and seems relatively easy to defend. Allies can only attack from 2 sides to get the docs. 6 man defense will be close together and strong, a really spammy map.

My opinion? It's small, compact and spammy. It'll no doubt make a great map for 3v3, where issues such as mines aren't a problem - but it needs some major changes to be suitable for 6v6 play.

It must be emphasized that although the map name is “_te” it is actually the first beta of the map. With the latest release being raw_b3, which you can download here

All the NationsCup happenings

image: ncIt's that all too familiar occurance: the admin decision. This Sunday been the news emerged that Denmark, Iceland and Israel have all been removed with immediate effect from the NationsCup. Wales Angrykid supplied the reason: "inactivity, inability to participate or just laziness". Unfortunately, both AngryKid and NightRaven were unavailable to respond to my queries before this was posted.

The other piece of news surrounding these decisions was the handing to Finland of a image: cupcard_yellowyellow card. This was due to "a horde of emails and requests regarding delayed challenges and forced matches". Nobody from the Finnish ET team was around when I poked my head in #et.finland, but hopefully I'll get a statement up here sometime soon. Notice a trend happening here?

Moving on to fresher news pastures, tonight sees the 4th matchweek game between Sweden and Malta in group B. Sweden will surely be the favourites for the win, and having started brightly recording a victory over France only to lose their next game against Holland, the Swedes bounced back to beat a berated Hungarian outfit 4-2. Their current ranking of 4th place in the group looks considerably better than that of minnows Malta, who have stumbled to 2 losses out of 2 against the USA and Czech Republic respectively. Malta will surely have to outplay themselves many times over to spare a lacklustre premature exit from the competition. Here be the details:

Team Beta Crowned #ET-Cup Champions

image: etcup

After three intense rounds of action Team Beta overcame a resilient Helix team to take the gold.

It required a close decider on Adlernest_b7 to secure the win, with only 30 seconds remaining Germany Pumu ran the documents home. Their path to the final looks like:

4 0 > Finland Foundation
4 0 > Hungary Team Hungary
4 0 > Poland Polewka
4 2 > Europe Team Helix

Over in the second division Finland The Syndicate took the title in emphatic style over Austria GoQ. Who where simply outclassed on the day, losing 4 0. Their path to the final was:

> Benelux Prodigy
> Netherlands Routiniers
> Czech Republic BFU
> Austria GoQ

Thanks once again to our sponsors Ultimatequest Clan Servers and our supporters such Clan OsS and the GamesTV.org crew.

noll8 back in action!

Earlier this week xfire announced the return of Aneki and opened the door to speculation about who would be joining this swedish RTCW legend in his return to ET.

Now is the time to end the speculation and proudly announce ET's newest team, a team littered with RTCW history and success!

Sweden Aneki (ex o8 & iN)
Sweden Capten (ex o8 & SnapS)
Sweden Radical (ex iN)
Sweden Smutz (ex KiH)
Sweden Lockbete (ex e-star)
Sweden rat (ex IDKFA)
Sweden askungen
Sweden Pikken (ex KiH)

This is noll8's second outting into ET, however the last outting failed to bare fruits except for the partial foundation for the second iNfensus ET team that took silver in Eurocup IX.
Sweden had the knack of producing RTCW superstars on a weekly basis, players who could make an impact to any roster out there, the return to action for players like Capten will certainly bring hope to the swedish community, who himself was a mainstay of the successful SnapS team.

Join them in their quest for glory in #noll8
