Day One Preview: The first four

image: etKicking off the day's long fest of action will be the sides of Estonia Idle.ee (1st seeds) and [flag=0] TosspoT & Friends (Last seed) at the unholy hour of 9.30. The game will be what can only be described as a feat of ipossibility for T&F, as their opponents are only Quakecon 2005, 2006 and ClanBase EuroCup champions, and commonly thought of in the scene as invulnerable to defeat. Whatever the outcome, either side can be sure of progression, whether be it through the path of either winners or losers brackets.

The second game of the day sees an rejuvenated Belgian Belgium cZar lineup aiming to conquer the somewhat stumbling Finland sFx side whose players have only been part of the same team for a matter of weeks in build up to the LAN. sFx are sporting an assortment of talented players, including mAx, whose recent introductory spell to the Q4 EuroCup earnt him much acclaim. Up for grabs for the winners is a possible tie against Idle, so both parties are sure to want to get off to a positive start.

Germany riZe vs Netherlands Team NL offers possibly the hottest named game of the day so far, with both teams putting in plenty of hours in buildup to the event. Only last week the Dutchmen spent their time bootcamping here in the TGS and perfecting their settings, gaining an advantage as their learn how the venue performs. riZe have had to give up the slot of member mAus, one of the highest rated players in their team due to suspicious circumstances and replaced him with witz, who should aim to complement him better known teammates in the quest for glory.

Europe Helix vs Europe dMIZE, a game which could potentially swing either way, with helix sporting the old and successfull Vicious&Evil and dMIZE (ex-Team Northern Darkness) who are currently ranked as the second best clan in the whole of Enemy Territory. Helix are boosted by the arrival of mike/guardian of the EuroCup winning Idle team of last season, whilst the inclusion of mesqi, although he might not be able to see above the height of the desk, is sure to fill his opponent's heart with fear.

Monday's ETTV

image: etThere's only five days to go until the Crossfire Prizefight LAN, but life continues as normal for 6 teams tonight, as the ESL IPS qualifiers and 2006 Poland SummerCup lay on a feast of action to satisfy even the most of demanding of frag followers. Or perhaps you fancy a change? GamesTV.org has listing of matches in other games, including Battlefield 2 & Counter Strike.

Back on the home front for now, an eclectic mix of Poland, Spain, Finland, and Europe's finest do battle here for us tonight in games that all have potential to swing both ways.

Forget Barcelona and Chelsea, good vs evil, or all other power struggles with imfamous histories. There are few clans who can claim to have as much history between each other than Team Delta (Polewka) and sFx Evil (skit). The past is one thing yes, but nothing motivates like money, and both teams will be wary of following the plight of vib, helix and dtekt, all of whom have been knocked out in this, the 3rd round stage of the ESL IPS qualifiers. Instead then it is the example of idle, rewind and northern-darkness which will be of much rosier appeal, all teams who have already qualified from this stage. At the last meeting of these two teams (of which there are aplenty!), Delta came out 4-0 winners of stewie's insightful lugerfrag showcup on sw_fueldump, however that was over a month ago, and as we all know, a lot can change in that time. Lineups for tonight are:

delta from: kot, majcok, nrs, oic, phasmatis, chester, gotti, rio
sFx from: cadein, Herkkusieni, Leikkuri, ettu, LuciFer, manowar, Mikza, Murso, rauzkieye, Tiigeri, twidi

Match: Poland Team Delta vs Finland sFx Evil
Date: TONIGHT
Time:
21:00 CET
Maps: supplydepot, radar
GTV: wid / 1058

Next up comes a game between two teams who will be equally determined to win, but for vastly differing reasons. England Sheep's myLegend squad have yet failed to perform in the major competitions with their clanpage mystifyingly berefit of silverware, and the last ETTV appearance coming in the form of a 4-2 defeat to A+R way back in the middle of a rather humid June. However, they are strongly in the running for this, the 2006.pl SummerCup, and believe they have what it takes to progress the full distance. Standing in the challenger's corner are the team who will tell you this is a load of nonsense. Qlasic's Polish team haven't featured on ETTV before having previously played under the name trivium, and, having their chance to showcase their talents yesterday dashed by the cancellation of their game versus Poland slayers Team, they now look upon myLegend as a strong proving grounds to let them do just that. Lineups:

myLegend from: dRaakon, lioco, sheep, acid, iron, vegi
Qlasics from: GN1dA, dummy, butch, binder, z3R0, zMk, RadZiu

Match: Europe myLegend vs Poland Qlasics
Date: TONIGHT
Time:
20:00 CET
Maps: braundorf, radar
GTV: wid / 1046

Finally, tonight sees the meeting of the teams highBot and Parabellum. Now, I don't know about you, but I've had some pretty rough times from these teams... both losing games they should have won easily, both chopping and changing lineups faster and more often than I care to remember, and generally just being themselves. I really don't think the game needs any more build-up than that, litterally, expect the unexpected! More infos can be found on the gtv page (wid923).

SummerCup signups and maplist

image: cb2 Summer only comes round once a year, unless of course you migrate to Australia for half the year in which case you get 2. Or 3 if you're being clever, because you get another when you come back. In which case this analogy doesn't work. Let's start again.

The SummerCup only comes around once a year, and this year we nearly didn't have one at all. We now know that Malta toxic has taken up the reigns, and introduced his 5v5 style of gameplay upon the masses, much to the horror and vehement protests of a certain "high flying" German. But all that is irrelevant now as the signups are officially open, as has been the maplist announced. And boy, you're in for a shock. Let's get the easy ones out of the way. There is no supplydepot, there is no radar. But what there is, is sure to turn a few heads. The maplist is:

Frosbite
Adlernest
Braundorf_b4
sw_goldrush_te
sp_delivery2
HoG_b10 (Heart Of Gold)

If that doesn't raise a few eyebrows, I'm not to sure what will. Toxic moved to justify the decision:

No Radar as it has been a constant feature in every mappool of every competition, so this map takes a break from the 5v5 mappool. And also no supplydepot2, even though the map is great, we felt that it had to be sacrificed to try out the 2 new maps and grush had to be kept to keep the balance of different styles in the mappool.

ET gets its SummerCup

image: cb2
You may have read or heard stewie's interview with ClanBase supervisor Adacore recently on Radio iTG, in which he confirmed that the logistics of organising and playing out a summercup would prove nigh-on impossible, and consigning the prospect of an official cup to the bin.

However, not everyone was prepared to give up so easily. Step forward Malta toxic and Belgium Nightraver, who have announced they will be running an unofficial hosted cup on the ClanBase pages, aimed to last from July to September. The big difference with this cup is the format: it will be played as 5v5 in light of the recent Quakecon ET annoucement. Signups for the cup open from Monday 17th July until Sunday 30th July, with the maplist yet to be decided. Admins are always needed, and those interested can sign up here. Toxic had this to say:

Belgian chocolate combines with Maltesers to produce an unbelievable tasty result, yes, that's right folks, welcome to ET Summer '06 Hosted Cup! This cup will be a cup for all, everyone is invited from the Eurocup teams to Division 7 teams, no exceptions. Start putting on those fans and air conditioning so that your room will be cool over the summer months as the heat will be unbearable!

Gbooky + Enlarged latest

image: small_yellWe aspire. We dream. We wonder. And thats just at the fella that be Wales Angrykid. But theres a certain special something about a lan, be it the prospect of meeting other pc savy individuals who know their DDR from their SATA, or the chance to spend prolonged periods in cramped conditions living on a diet of nothing but pizza and cheapest beer. Put the whole operation in Germany, and you've got quite a spectacle on your hands.

So, when GAMESTV.ORG announced a few weeks back that members had the chance to win tickets to Enlarged, a German lan event, and that all participants had to do was bet some fake money on their favourite clans, many jumped at the chance. Although some games like the EuroCup finals have been noteworthy absentees from the listings, GTV's comprehensive coverage meant that the virtual euros were in full flow. But now the deadline has passed, and there could only be one winner. The top 3 standings for the entrants goes a little like this:

1. Germany evil (577e capital)
2. United Kingdom foonr (398e capital)
3. France legionaer (320e capital)

Evil has since announced he will be giving over his ticket to teammate Germany biqq, who will travel in his place. A great big have fun message goes out to him, as well as a reminder not to ruffle the feathers of the Polish WoW players too much.

Betting on GTV GBooky goes on, with today the lucky member Poland katz landing 1263euros for his bet on the PourIX - iStar game! Head over to gamestv.org for more information and developments.

xKOTH reaches round 3

image: koth24bp
It might be EuroCup night, but the idle - demi game is by no means the only game of any significance tonight.

After a dramatic 11th hour departure from the ET scene, helix decided to inform me that they could not play. Could not play despite the fact the match was tomorrow, despite the fact GIGA were showcasing the game, despite the fact that all the ETTV and shoutcasters had been booked a week in advance. The words that no game supervisor wants to hear were uttered, and so began the cleanup operation.

Helix were due to be challenged by riZe, who quite understandably last night did not believe they had a game to play anymore, with the comp channel topic simply reading "Match cancelled". But as the saying goes, the show must go on, and tonight is no exception. riZe have been bursting a gut to be able to play tonight, and to them we must give great thanks. But we still had to find a last-moment opponent! Step in Highbot from stage-left to salvage the night, and to set up a thoroughly respectable and action-packed night!

image: beta8ow [img|left]http://www.warning-team.org/users/foonr/hb.jpg[/img]Thus we see highBot against riZe fighting for the crown and striving to prove a point: Highbot have just reformed from Palmarium, but riZe have also made significant progress in the EuroCup, and will be looking to send a message to the remaining teams.

image: game658 The match starts an hour before the EC game of idle vs demiurge, and with a whopping 3 shoutcasters, not forgetting GIGAII coverage, there has never been a better reason to either tune in to ETTV or connect your ETTV server up to the matchserver.

Match: Europe highbot 2 - 4 Germany riZe Gaming Ltd.

Helix.et are no more

image: hx

It is said that all great things have to come to an end, but surely few would have predicted the demise of the most current Europe helix roster, who having emerged from the razz scandal to record strong victories over Polewka, elite and northern darkness, including their involvement in the Crossfire King of the Hill competition, for which they were scheduled to make their second defense for the title tonight.

However that is all in the past. The reality is that helix.et do not now formally exist, BUT the hx - riZe KOTH game tonight will go ahead, the match will be riZe vs HIGHBOT.

Helix will release a statement shortly.

The final lineup was:

Germany MurDa
Germany sNoOp!
Germany ramiN
Latvia Clown
Germany/Poland Riddla
Switzerland Rapt6rr
