WCG 2009 Championship - Groups drawn

image: adichina
QuoteMore than four thousand years ago, the prehistorical Bronze Age culture of Jinsha established itself in this region. The fertile Chengdu Plain, on which Chengdu is located, is called Tianfuzhi guo in Chinese, which literally means "the country of heaven", or more often seen translated as "the Land of Abundance". It was recently named China's 4th-most livable city by China Daily.

With so many events taking place these days all around the world, one cannot wonder but see the yearly World Cyber Games event as one of the classiest and most profoundly sport like events out there.

SLAP Live #19 - Live from Copenhagen

While one of the biggest global tournaments in both Counter-Strike 1.6 and Quake Live is taking place right at this moment in the stylish and modern Dubai, the Danish LAN organization SLAP has still managed to get some of the world’s finest team from both Counter-Strike 1.6 & Counter-Strike: Source to their medium sized Danish LAN "SLAP LIVE #19".

This time the #19 Edition of SLAP LIVE will be held in Copenhagen, the biggest city in Denmark and the beating heart of eSports within this small nation, as several big names have their offices there as well as having a favourable location (plenty of train connections and close to the Swedish Zlatan-loving neighbors).

IEM Global Challenge Dubai

After a somewhat dry spell, the Counter-Strike 1.6 & Quake Live scene can cast its eyes on a LAN final again.

When it comes to deciding the cream of the crop of Worldwide eSports talent, many will shrug and give you the name of a consistent team over the past few years, whether that name is mTw, Team EG, MYM or Vitriolic. Over the past few weeks, some of those teams, amongst others, have been battling it out online across two games, Quake Live and Counter-Strike: 1.6 to secure a place at the Extreme Masters Dubai, which will decide who really does stand out in the eSports scene.

Last year we saw one of the most exciting tournaments of the year taking place in in this big city. And again the world's best players will compete at the Gitex Shopper in Dubai from 17th until 24th of October 2009 at the $31,500 Global Challenge.

Ladies & Gentlemen without further ado let me present you the groups for next week’s huge eSport tournament which is taking place in the world-famous & stylish Dubai.

Today we see another sad day in the big Call of Duty 4 scene. One of the longest servering CoD4 players and one of the biggest gaming icons Michael "Mick" Bradshaw will be retiring from Call of Duty. The reason is said to be lack of motivation to play at this kind of level.

However, dignitas was fast on the player market and found just what they were looking for. Chris "nreo" Mead is the name, we have seen him from teams like Reason Gaming & h2o. A big player but can he follow the footsteps of Mick? Lets cross fingers for Team Dignitas.

Quote by Chris "nreo" Mead
Everybody knows about the talent in this team and the deep history it has so I’m honoured to have been asked to join Dignitas. I’ve got big shoes to fill as Mick has been the central most important icon, player and leader for this team for as long as I can remember. But I’m always up for challenges and this is no different. It was an opportunity I really couldn’t refuse especially as soon as I started playing with the team and having had a chat with the management. Dignitas has an exciting future in store and the sky’s the limit with these bunch of lads so I’m very proud to be a part of that.

The new dignitas.cod4 lineup will be as following:

United Kingdom Chris "Blackmane" Kinnair
United Kingdom Jonathan "raz" Baker
United Kingdom Jason "LoOkzor" O'Connor
United Kingdom Daniel "SoCLoN" O'Connor
United Kingdom Chris "nreo" Mead
United Kingdom Michael "Mick" Bradshaw - backup

Changes in Ravens

image: ravens_banner

After all the major summer tournaments coming to an end, Roskilde Ravens has been undergoing some drastic changes.

As from now on Team captain Kenneth "fRiJeC" Jensen will no longer be a part of the Ravens COD4 team. He will Instead be concentrating on new projects within Roskilde eSport, such as the-eXperience 2009.

Quote by Organisation manager Jens "Sarabande" Christian Ringdal"Kenneth is more than just a player; he has huge potential when it comes to eSport, knowing organisations, teams and players etc. It has been hard to work fully with these qualifications while Kenneth was playing actively for Ravens. With the reorganisation of our Call of Duty 4 team this is now possible"

Along with fRiJeC we will also see Mik "Champ" Bødtker leaving the COD4 team.

Quote by Team manager Jamie "Zino" Bach"We have seen Champ perform amazingly at both CDC4 and i33, but at both AEF and TEX he was not near past performances. I have had talks with Champ about this and it has come clear that he needs a break from the high level of gaming until he has once again found the sparkle that made him one of the best snipers in Europe."

Instead of fRiJeC and Champ we will once again see Lars-Michael "LM" Milo-Sydow in the team. And as something new Roskilde Ravens is also welcoming a new face to the organisation in the shape of team captain Kristian "Holbek" Holbek who will lead Ravens in future matches.

Lineup:
Denmark Kristian "Holbek" Holbek
Denmark Emil "Hiffer" Ervolder
Denmark Frederik "Huggo" Christensen
Denmark Lars-Michael "LM" Milo-Sydow
Denmark Brian "wmzY" Bie

Backup:
Denmark André "R3CoR" Jensen
Denmark Mik "Champ" Bødtker

Manager:
Denmark Jamie "Zino" Bach

AEF Prizepot

Ravens with big changes!

image: ravens_banner

One of europes finest organizations, Roskilde Ravens have these days made some quite big but also very interesting changes in their CoD4 elite team.

First of all 2 players are being substituted. LM due to school, and Hmz due to a bigger workload at his job, and they are being replaced by none other than Huggo & Hiffer.

Organisation manager of Roskilde eSport, Jens Christian “Sarabande” Ringdal says:

“LM and Hmz are two fantastic players, whom we thank for their great contribution to Ravens. It has been very hard to find replacements for these top players, with great personalities, but it is my belief that Huggo and Hiffer will each bring their share of commitment to the team.”
