Anexis Taking Over

As many of you will be aware, Germany Anexis eSports e. V. have joined up with the former United Kingdom The Last Resort ET Squad after the news of TLR closing down. The team who won last season's EuroCup were in need of a new Organisation for the current season - to which they're competing in ClanBase EuroCup XXIII, YCN Spring Challenge and eSports Challenge LAN. The roster is as follows:

Italy Dario “XyLoS” A.
Belgium David “mAus” H.
Netherlands Jay “Jay” B.
Finland Matias “Matias” F.
United Kingdom Ross “R0SS” G.image: anexis2

The team have undergone some changes since Fall 2010 with Netherlands Jay renewing his spot in the roster as Netherlands M1lk departed from the lineup, along with United Kingdom sqzz, one of TLR's most decorated members leaving to join the fellow online competitor Europe Queens after informing his clanmates that he'd be unable to attend future LANs. Being rather tough shoes to fill, Finnish powerhouse Finland Matias was the final replacement for sqzz to bring a balanced lineup back to the team.

I caught up with Matias for a fairly informative statement of his feelings surrounding the team in general and how he is finding it to take sqzz's place.

Quote by MatiasWell it's a nice team to play with, one of those teams where you aren't relied on to carry, just enough to do the objective and you win.. so I'll be fighting for the lowest dmg award with R0SS. Also the atmosphere is coolish, since the guys are really friendly, even R0SS.

For now I've been playing bad and I think they would do a lot better with sqzz, but I hope I will improve closer toward the eSports Challenge LAN. :D I'm really looking forward to play under the Anexis tag in future online and offline competitions.

CB EC Third Match Week

image: 161cld2

EuroCup XXIII has reached its third and final group stage match-week, this week will determine which teams will reach the playoffs and which teams will be left behind to contemplate on what went wrong and how they could improve next season.

Tonight, Sunday the first of May, will hold host to six EuroCup XXIII games while tomorrow, Monday the second of May, will hold host to four more games.

TLR closes down, the LAN will go on!

Firstly, I would like to say that the LAN even will continue, none of the teams will lose any money or anything like that so don't panic. Secondly, yes it's true (sadly), TLR has closed its doors for now and by coincidence, the site has gone offline as well so there will be a lot of unanswered questions. I have a copy of the news post that was due to go live yesterday on the site before it went offline, I've written in the full version but only displayed the ET version and the thanks to all of you who've shown your support to us over the last few months. If you would like to read the full news post to find out about our other teams and staff members, then you can unhide the rest of the post.

Nothing changes for the LAN apart from the name. I'm still running it, TLR's sponsors weren't involved in it (apart from YCN and they're still involved). Same goes for the mapping contest, that will still go on as TLR, the prize WILL be given.

We're sure it will come as a shock to a lot of you, some of you may even be saddened by the news or maybe you saw it coming. Regardless of your reaction, the news is true; TLR will officially be closing its doors.

Throughout the short 4 months since our re-launch in December, our online campaign has been fantastic. We've seen our Facebook group grow from 86 people to 553, our Twitter followers go from 126 to 411, our website traffic going from 200+ unique hits in a week to 300+ unique hits a day. We would like to dedicate the last 4 months to our teams, our staff and of course all of you who have continuously supported our teams and projects. As cliché as it sounds, we couldn't have achieved what we achieved without all the aforementioned.

What will happen next? Read on to find out about our teams, their time in TLR and what their future holds...

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory

We made a return into Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory by bringing in an all-star team who have displayed their skill and talent throughout their time here at TLR and will continue to do so. Their first contribution to TLR was the ClanBase EuroCup championship mere days after they joined. Since then, they collectively achieved Team of The Year in the Crossfire awards and several players received personal awards such as best aimer, player of the year and most underrated player. This team have been fantastic to work with and we wish them the absolute best in their future together. We're sure you'll be hearing about their new venture very, very soon.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

We've always been a supporter of the Call of Duty series, and the fourth episode in the game's history has been no different. This particular team, give or take a few names and faces, has been with us since July 2010 and has come a very long way. Placing poorly at Antwerp eSports Festival in 2010 to winning numerous Benelux LANs and most recently finishing at third place at Outpost on Fire 4 a few weeks ago. This is a team who are continuously improving and will become a serious contender for top spot with the right support. The team will continue to play together and will be attending E-Series on May the 14th, we do not yet know which flag they will fly.

Day of Defeat: Source

We re-entered the Day of Defeat: Source scene shortly after the arrival of our Call of Duty 4 team. This particular team have the greatest players from Europe snowballing their way through every opponent they meet at online and offline events, most notably absolutely destroying their only real contender at Anjougame a few weeks ago. With exam periods and international team opportunities arising, the future of this team is yet unknown. If they decide to stick together, they will continue their dominance among all things DoDs.

Michael "chefinal" Robinson

Mike is TLR's founder, owner, father and carer. He is the man who started it all back in 2003 as a Grand Theft Auto PC community to what you see now. Many of you will have met him at an i-Series event or even one of the many Crossfire events. As his nickname may suggest, Mike works full time as a Chef and will look to focus on his career for now. This is the man who holds the key to TLR's doors, who knows, he may re-open those doors again some day.

image: tlr

Sean "Seanza" McDougall

Along with the Call of Duty 4 team joining in July 2010, the then manager of Team Rockit joined us in our journey forward. Since then, Sean has become a massive part in TLR's road to success and has increased his own experience and skills whilst being part of the team here. He is best known for his no-nonsense dealings and honesty and most know him as one of the most reliable people in eSports today. He has been the creator of most of the recent initiatives by TLR and has been the driving force behind our social media and community campaigns. Sean will still be hosting his LAN event in July and we're sure it will be an amazing event! Aside from that, Sean's future in eSports is unknown, apart from the fact that he will be heavily involved in some way or another.

image: tlr

Josh "pesteh" Clarke

It all started for Josh in TLR when his company, pixaweb.co.uk, were drafted in to code and design a new website for TLR. Before long, Josh found himself being more involved with TLR than he initially expected and continued to pour his efforts into the organisation by constantly updating the website graphics and eventually re-designing the whole website to what you see it as now. Josh will continue to run his company, and has yet to decide if he will continue being actively involved in a managerial role in the eSports industry. If you're looking for a fantastic website that looks highly professional and is easy to use, then pixaweb.co.uk is where you need to be!

Of course, aside from the teams and management mentioned above, there have been some other key people involved in our recent success, namely Roelof "pZy" Prins and Matt "rellie" Squires who have shown utter dedication and passion via their journalist work here on our website, on our Facebook and on Twitter. We would like to send out a personal thankyou to them for all their efforts and their time at TLR. Their futures are yet unknown, but rest assured they won't be hiding away! Other notable thanks go to those who helped us run our online cups and other competitions.

Finally, and certainly by no means least, a MASSIVE thankyou to all companies and organisations who have shared their efforts with us as an organisation and provided us with funding, products and moral support over the years. You have all been fantastic and wish you all the best in your future and hope the market continues to boom for each and every one of you!

It's goodbye from TLR... for now at least.

Egg-citing Easter Sunday ET

image: easterbanner

The time of lent comes to a close as many begin the devouring of hollow chocolate eggs. But these aren't the only things the four day Easter weekend has in store. Sunday evening treats us to what will hopefully be some high quality Enemy Territory action as the first round of the YCN Spring Challenge playoffs gets underway and the Eurocup group stage continues. Supplemented with casts from United Kingdom yours truly and France Francis there will surely be something worth watching.

Kicking things off early are the fervent Finns Finland red as a beetroot who take on the benelux based United Kingdom Power Gaming in the second matchweek of Eurocup. This is the Finns first game of the tournament unlike PG who took a 4-2 victory over Belgian Fraternity last week. So far every Eurocup game has gone to a third map and I think these teams might just be too close to break that trend.

Updated I challenged MerlinatoR to keep up his 100% prediction record. His thoughts can be found after the jump.

The ET Xtream Cup by Team Decerto

image: logoetcup

Today we are very glad to announce our latest event, this time in cooperation with Xtream Hosting and their great staff. As we already had the chance to run a Enemy Territory cup some weeks ago, which we gladly inform was a huge success, it certainly was a solid option to go with for our next event.

Therefore Team Decerto and Xtream Hosting announce the Xtream Cup: Enemy Territory, which will be hosted this upcoming April 25th at 20:00 CET.

YCN SC - Playoff

image: YCN-SC-1

Tonight we conclude the group stage of the YCN Spring Challenge and can begin with the playoff stage of the competition. The playoff bracket consists of 16 teams in a double elimination bracket, 2 teams from each group have proceeded to this stage.

The brackets have been randomly chosen, with a team playing 1st in their group against a team placing 2nd. You can see the brackets and follow their progress on the Esports Heaven page linked below.

The End of NationsCup XIV

image: 2hdy737

The grand finale between Team Finland and Team Belgium marked the end of NationsCup XIV.

In an extremely even and exiting match Team Finland beat Team Belgium 5 to 3 after four maps. Team Belgium, who reached the final through the lower bracket succeeded in beating Finland in the first match, yet Finland recuperated in the second and overthrew Belgium to become the NationsCup XIV champions.

EC, OC and YCN matches live on GamesTV!

image: etradarWith the first matchweek of the Clanbase Euro- and Opencup as well as the last YCN Spring Challenge games some big clashes are about to start tonight! First of all we will see a renewed Germany teamoxid lineup fighting against the self-appointed France Pharaons right at 21.00 CET on Bremen_b3 and sw_Goldrush_te for a first victory in their CB OC Premier League, Group D. The outcome will most likely decide which team is fighting for a playoff spot (the winner) and which for a unlucky 3rd place (the loser) because the guys from Czech Republic iR pracc hard to secure the first group place.

Just one hour later we can follow the biggest matchup in the YCN Spring Challenge - Group 1 with United Kingdom Dignitas playing against the all-German side of Germany Team Rockit. With a solid performance and a first place in the Team Decerto & Nation Voice Cup the odds are in favour of Dignitas but some of the rockit gamers have a motivating first 3v3 NationsCup win against Netherlands Team Netherlands #1 in their pocket so just time will tell if their tailwind is big enough to stop the awesome power of Dignitas.

zZz goes NORDIC

image: logo300x300

After recent announcement of releasing Enemy Territory squad except Poland Robaciek, that has become the manager of ET section, Denmark NORDIC eSport were left with an open spot in TLR eSport Challenge lan. Recent experience could build a bad point of view about ET scene. However, they were able to quickly catch a second wind after receiving an application that took the shine out of the previous one. Several meetings brought a conclusion that Denmark NORDIC eSport will be represented by Denmark SleeperZ. Hats off for the brand new lineup consisting of:

Next Evolution with Changes

After finishing 3rd in the recent Frostbite Sunday one-day competition, the team has made some changes for the upcoming EuroCup XXIII competition and in the runup to the TLR eSport Challenge. After losing France karnaj due to inactivity, the team have been searching for a replacement for the last week or so. Added to that, it was decided the team was not working with the current lineup so Poland zMk was replaced as well. The N-Evo ESC lineup for the upcoming ET season is as follows:

Poland Robert "Numeric" O.
Poland Maciek "Frag Stealer" P.
Belgium Giel "chry" D.
Switzerland Florian "gifty" G.
Germany Tobias "sNoOp" U.image: 2cn7cas

Switzerland gifty and Germany sNoOp join the lineup after Team Speedlink fell apart at the end of last month, with both players still wanting to play at the the TLR eSports Challenge and the upcoming EC it seems to be an obvious choice for them and N-Evo.
