If you haven't heard the news about Infinity Ward dropping dedicated servers for CoD:MW2, you might have been living under a rock or you do not follow CoD news at all. Something closer to home however is that John Carmack, technical director at id Software, has expressed his desire to skip dedicated servers for Rage, id's upcoming post apocalyptic shooter to be released When It's Done. Dedicated servers are something of a remnant of the early days of PC gaming, according to Carmack, who was responsible for some of the greatest technology which has defined the shape of games as we know them today. His most well known work is probably the Quake 3 Arena engine, which powered a wide array of games including Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and the Call of Duty series.

Meanwhile, the game developer behind W:ET, Splash Damage, has announced they will continue to support dedicated servers on the PC for their upcoming fps game BRINK, to be released in Spring 2010.

But they are back and ready for the upcoming RTCW Cup. Rewind won Eurocup VII right during RTCWs prime time and were considered the best team during that time by many. Darkie, zenon, intact and sancity also went on to win the first ET Eurocup under the dignitas tag.

Im sure most of you on this site know celsus through their enemy territory team who have qualified for the ec playoffs and EMS. Well today celsus are glad to introduce their new cod4 team :

A few days ago I talked with celsus about joining and future goals. They were giving me signals that they were in terested in a CoD4 team. After a few days, celsus told us we could could get a deal going. Our goal is to see how MW2 is, and if it's not that good we will stick with MW. We hope to represent celsus in the best possible way

Pc director for celsus Ross "R0SS" Gracie had the following to say:

After only a few discussions with vmbo we knew as an organisation these guys were perfect to bring into celsus. With their vast achievements in cod4 both online and offline it was a team we had to snap up quickly. They slot in with the current Enemy Territory team and TF2 perfectly with a vast experience in the top level of gaming. We are very proud to unveil these guys as a team in celsus and we sure that they will go on to achieve some great things and represent celsus honourably. Hopefully now as an organisation we can build on the current top teams we have in these games and go on to support other teams and games.


This is a team with a core lineup that has achievements such as 1st and 2nd twice at offline events like fatlan. These guys will be competing in cc7 (if cod4 is definate) along with the current et team. They will also be competing in any upcoming online and offline events.

With merely five days to go until MW2 hits the shelves, Infinity Ward has put yet another teaser trailer on the web. By the beats of Eminem we can see a lot more footage from the Single Player, which promises to be a thrilling experience.

The lovely chaps at Infinity Ward who in their infinite wisdom decided to remove dedicated servers from the upcoming release of MW2 have gone several steps further towards insanity recently by confirming a number of shocking modifications to the game.


- No Console (no modifications allowed)
- P2P server hosting, with testers receiving 100ms
- Players have no control over 'server' location
- No Lean
- No kick functionality

Just when you thought they couldnt go any further wrong, they've succeeded! I end with a quote from IW Mackey - "I've been playing mainly with around 100ms ping and it was great."

The HoN League $500 Tournament is expecting an entertaining Grand Final Match live streamed on E-REV.TV. 64 Teams from all over the world participated in Heroes of Newerth's first cup with prize money held from 1st October. This weekend will bring the deciding match.

Two of the lower seeded teams successfully won against numerous favourites and now these two are able to fight for the first few dollars in the competitive HoN scene. We Heart Pigs and fiVe! are the teams facing each other.
The bets expect a close match coming up - Prediction from the official article can't decide whether fiVe or WHP will take it in the end eventhough WHP is with a few American DotA stars ready to go while 5! already proved their talent in the previous round.

The Eurogamer Expo kicked of in London today, and it's Brink all round - unexpectedly. For the first time ever, Brink was unveiled to the public by Splash Damage's very own CEO, Paul Wedgwood. On a first-come first-served basis, a few lucky Londoners were able to gain a seat for the Brink developer session - one of whom, Peter C. a gaming journalist for TheSixthAxis.com. Unfortunately, media recording was strictly forbidden so there will not be any gameplay footage for us to see. However, Peter C summed up everything nicely to give us a good idea of what Brink feels like and how much it relates to RtCW and ET.
