Logitech MX518[/u]
Overview
So this mouse has an 8 instead of a 0 so what? you might be asking yourself this. Well there are some huge improvements over the original. Firstly it looks a hell of a lot cooler then an MX510 while carrying the same shape, a right handed mouse only. Quality feet (although I found that when I used the MX518 feet with my Qpad I had a crazy amount of friction, hyperglides solved that). The mouse also does 400,800,1600 DPI via hardware so there's no need for drivers to switch between them although they do offer you the option of custom DPI. Don't take DPI as a selling point of a mouse it's merely a marketting thing of a bigger number.
Another thing this mouse will do is a solid 500Hz when the patch is applied and doesn't have some form of removable weight on the inside. So what is an MX518 it's simply a corrected MX510 with a newer sensor capable of doing 1600 DPI. The Razer diamondback magma/chameleon infact use an older sensor then the MX518, which causes a pixel jitter effect (more on this later) so it's got a superior sensor.
The Negatives
Once again the same problems crop up, the side and buttons can become very simply after an intense gaming session. The buttons on the side are a little loose for my taste but that's purely down to preference.
Once again the weight is still not exactly perfect but this is now more down to preference.
DPI has doubled since the MX510, yet this should be taken with a grain of salt, DPI doesn't technically make you're aim more accurate the advantages are offset by disadvantages. 1600 DPI cannot be used by itself in ET and not expect to have a large amount of negative acceleration. There are solutions to this such as lowering windows sensitivity, which is almost the same as lowering DPI, Anir's mouseforce, which gives a weird over all feeling of the mouse and has been claimed to have buffered inputs and running a stupidly high fps/resolution almost not possible.
Conclusion
A solid all round mouse it corrects the previous errors of the MX510 if you don't want a risk this is the mouse to take accurate effecient it's a nice upgrade.
