Quakecon 2006 is underway at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas. Featuring Enemy Teritory 5 vs 5 for $30,000 , Quake 4 1 vs 1 for $35,000 & 2 vs 2 for $25,000.

One small development from Crossfire towers is that we have purchased a new domain, namely Crossfire.nu.
Unfortunately Xfire.com recently purchased by Viacom decided to be successful, and whenever I talk to any company regarding this site the conversation goes a little something like this:

Toss - "Hi, I'm from Xfire"
Person in suit - "The messenger program?"
Toss - "No, the Wolfenstein site, xfire.be"
Person in suit "Oh.."
Person in suit "Before I walk away from you, what is .be?"

So after tirelessly searching for good available domains, Crossfire.nu was chosen. I enquired about .com and was told it would cost at least $50,000. The owner of .net was far more civilised only wanting $25,000! With a variety of other Crossfire domains taken, this seemed like the best option. What is .nu? Well its some crazy little island off the coast of Australia, and also means now in Swedish I believe. There are a number of other gaming .nu addresses (mainly swedish) and it is supposed to be an upcoming domain, whether it is or not I have no clue. The domain is far from ideal, but it moves us away from Xfire.com, still keeps a pretty poor extension, but 1 outta 2 is not bad...

The move is from a souly marketing point of view, and will not effect anyones usage of the site, xfire.be will always exist for the rest of eternity and you wont need to update your favourites or anything. This move will not effect users at all, we simply wanted to make you aware.

First of all lets get down to the business matter of payment for the LAN event. To clarify its 30 euros entry per competitor to be paid in advance. Payments are due by Friday August 18th, our sponsors Prizefight will provide the platform for which payments can be made and will make that method public in the coming week. On Saturday 19th of August we will offer all unpaid places in a first come, first served basis.

Qualifiers are to be played on one fixed map - Toujane and will be played using the current Clanbase Eurocup Match CFG with Max Rounds 10. Tournament lead Chosen will admin the Qualifiers, which will be brought to you using the unique tournament platform from our sponsors PrizeFight - Matches are to be played by Monday 8th of August. Please schedule your match with Chosen and he will provide you with the information to play on PrizeFight tournament software. Do not play your matches without talking to Chosen first, he can be found in #crossfire.

Little is known of the United States of America, this crazy land filled with beautiful food stuffs and counter strike players is hosting ET's biggest LAN event.
Whilst Europe may have won the past two Quakecon's for Wolfenstein, some brave Americans are going to go up against Europes finest and try to bring home some gold, lets introduce those teams:

Reigning Eurocup champions Speedlink have won the Outpost on Fire Call of Duty tournament in Antwerp this weekend. Whilst information has been in short supply we know that they had to overcome old foes Dignitas to take the gold.

They infact faced Dignitas twice, first in the winners bracket where they avenged their defeat in Eurocup 11 by beating Mick and the Dignitas gang 16-12 on Toujane. Dignitas answered back with a stunning 16:5 win over TMPClan to get themselves a place in the grand final.

In tense and thriling final on Burgundy the match went right down to the wire with Speedlink taking the match in the final round winning 16:14 over a dejected Dignitas.

The final standings are as follows:

1st - Speedlink - 1500 euros + hardware
2nd - Dignitas - 750 euros + hardware
3rd - TMPClan - 250 euros + hardware

After a poll within the clanleaders there will be ET Qualifiers for the lan, and with some 22 teams signing up for an 8 team tournament, we've extended the qualifiers from 8 teams competing for 4 spots, to 16 teams competing for 4 spots.

Those teams will also be seeded at the lan itself, with the other 4 spots determined by a single elimation tournament between 16 teams for the final places!
Those 16 teams have again gone under the seeding hammer and team.nl, tank34, v&e & sFx have been seeded.

The qualifiers are to all be played on FIXED maps of SupplyDepot & Radar with Frostbite as a decider if needed. With matches the first round of matches to be played this week on Wednesday or Thursday with the second round due to be played on Sunday or Monday.
Matches are to be played using the Crossfire Config, and for the most part players and teams are asked to arrange their matches on their own as there is a very small admin team for the qualifiers.

Leading the ET Tournament will be Nellie and you should inform him of all schedulings, conflicts and concerns. - When you have scheduled your match, you should message Nellie in #Crossfire.

This weekend sees the cream of the crop turning out in Antwerp for the Outpost on fire Lan. Call of Duty 2 takes to the main stage as the greatest teams in the world turn out for a cracking weekends action.

After the end of the Eurocup season, Call of Duty has been crying out for an event to captivate its audience once again and this most certainly is it. An all star cast will turn out, featuring Speedlink, Dignitas, Raw Gaming & many more will battle it out for over 5000 euros worth of prizes so make sure you dont miss a click!

Speedlink go into this tournament the favourites, with experience and accolades to boot. Bouyed by the collapse of their rivals Check 6, they will look to Dignitas or TeK-9 as their main challengers. Dont be surprised if Insignia Cadre cause a surprise as they're known to raise their game on lan, espcially with the surprise whitewash at Playz lan back in March.
