Crossfire Intel ESL Challenge *update*

image: ciec
As announced in an earlier newspost Crossfire and the ESL team up for Crossfire Intel ESL Challenge -- the official seeding tournament for Crossfire Intel Challenge 7.

The seedings that result from this competition will be used to create the poules and groups for the upcoming offline event. Every attending team that wishes to be seeded must play in this tournament.

In order to get the best possible seedings, and to give every team the chance to play as many matches as possible, a special tournament system will be used.

We will start with a Groupstage with 8 groups of 4-6 teams (depends upon signups).
ALL teams will then play a single elimination playoff stage as a 1 day cup. The date for the playoff cup will be announced once the signup numbers are known. Teams that finish 1st in their group will form one 8-slot playoff bracket, with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. placed teams similarly forming their own 8-slot playoff brackets. In the end there will be 4-6 of these 1 day cups at a time (again, depending on signups) with 3 rounds played per cup.

While this is the seeding tournament for Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 we still allow EVERY team to sign up. Teams already signed up for CIC7, though, have their spot guaranteed.

Country Championship - Decision made

image: eslcfcc
Dear Crossfire and Enemy Territory community,

After our recent tournament announcement we are quite glad to see the discussion the announcement triggered. Apart from the original discussion it is nice to see that the community is not dead and even able to deal with such a topic in a quite objective and neutral way.

As it stands right now, the time for a new and innovative start of a tournament for nations has not come yet. Negotiations with Clanbase were not possible or just failed from the beginning.
The result of this is: Two announced Tournaments.

This was not the aim of the collaboration between the Electronic Sports League and the Crossfire team. The reason for this tournament announcement was based on several requests done by the community and not a fast and illplanned idea from scratch. After the complaints about the recent seasons the ESL and Crossfire decided to give it a try and to start that new project during the winter. A project which was meant to be a project by the community for the community and not limited by rules given by somebody which might even not be involved into that tournament.

We do not want to split up the community into two parties. We care about your issues: That is the reason why we - the ESL and Crossfire crew - are ready to postpone the announced Championship until further notice. However this is a stark warning to Clanbase ET, that there will be another player in the house in future and that is the ESL. So it is time Clanbase gets their house in order!

Nevertheless we will not be inactive. Crossfire and the Electronic Sports League hereby partner up for the official seeding tournament for the upcoming Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 in March. Stay tuned for more information and the soon to be opened signups!

Without further ado I present you the Coast beta1 presentation video by phaloid:

The ESL Major Series Relegation starts today and all matches have to be finished next Sunday. Default date is Sunday, 21 CET. All teams which have added 0 / 1 player, are now allowed to add 2 / 1 new players. To add a player to your team send in a support ticket to EU EMS ET section stating your wish.

Prior to the actual relegation matches we have to announce that United Kingdom Team YoYoTech FiF decided to drop from the competition in order to prepare for the Crossfire Intel Challenge in early march. Due to this one 4th placed team gets the chance to win a relegation match!

QuoteIt's not how many dogs you bring to the fight, but how much fight is in the dogs. I can assure you in preparation for this ESL Masters Series tournament game in Enemy Territory we have stuck to a strict training regiment. Oh and Booboo is definitely not happy.
