Schedule

Expansion & Qualifiers

As the ET community flexed its mighty muscle once again, the Crossfire team has bowed to the fierce demands of the community. Therefore, we swiftly adapted its qualifiers and direct invites.

There will be implications by allowing 16 teams on LAN, which will be decided upon later tonight and thus more info on this will follow very soon. However with the limited time at hand for the qualifiers to complete, we cannot wait with the qualifiers as they need to be completed by January 10.

The qualifiers for ET:QW have also been altered as H2K and overload will not be able to attend either, next to nextlevel.

No changes have been made for Warsow. The direct invites and qualifiers for CoD4 will be released later tonight. All CoD4 teams bear in mind to be available to play in the upcoming two days between 20:00 and 23:00 CET.

We have selected teams on past performance, (future) potential, stability and last but far from least, the likeness of attendance. The latter might stir up the seeds if they were solely based on the strength of each teams, but based on our past experience from the previous Crossfire installments it came evident that we should include this variable.

Important: Cheater Policy[/b]]
In retrospect of the past events concerning cheaters, there is much uncertainty which players are banned or are legal to attend CDC4. To avoid any ambiguity, we ask ALL teams to post their final lineup on their clan profiles by midnight today. There are no exceptions.

This will allow everyone to see which players will be competing in the upcoming days.
Meanwhile, players can make an appeal for investigation of direct opponents on their eligibility to compete. This means that if you wonder if a certain player is illegal to compete, please make us aware (PRIVATELY) and we will investigate that player and hopefully come to prompt decisions.

Crossfire holds the right to ban at any time and therefore revoke qualifier match if a player turns out to be illegal nonetheless. It is the sheer responsibility of the team captain to be absolutely sure that his team is "cheater-free". We all know that certain players have a somewhat "blemished" record and we are sure that players are very well aware of this. Therefore, instead of trying to squeeze a player through the mazes of the rules, our suggestion is that you think of the long run benefits of playing with legal, clean players only and do the community a favor.

4kings return to CoD

One of the UK's leading gaming organisations has today returned to the Call of Duty scene picking up an all UK lineup. The organisation has not been seen in the game since CoD1 when the remains of their RTCW squad took on the new title. They were never replaced despite many rumours contrary in CoD2. Yesterday they announced the following lineup for Activisions next title;

Ireland crow
United Kingdom palmz
United Kingdom junior
United Kingdom corp
United Kingdom wiz

The lineup is not as flamboyant as an organisation of their caliber could have attracted, however their CS history has shown that flamboyance is not always a winning attribute and they'll be hoping for a secure and stable future with the lineup. This is 4kings second pickup this week after taking a finnish CSS division from the now dead Insignia Cadre.

You can read the official announcement on the 4K homepage here.

CDC3 Community Interviews Released

image: concept1_3_banner

In the wake of the lastest successful installment of the Crossfire Challenges, QuadV has released some of the community interviews, which were conducted by United Kingdom TosspoT over the past weekend.

A total of five interviews have been put on the Video On Demand section, featuring Spain Winghaven, Belgium dav1d, Netherlands PLU173, Switzerland Gifty and United Kingdom Bulld0g.

TosspoT touches the everlasting hot topic of cheating with Bulld0g, where he explains some of the tough decisions he has to had to make in the past and how he looks at this "losing battle".

Prior to Sunday afternoon, the big question was who would go win CDC 3, Gifty, dav1d and Winghaven all shed their lights on the current strengths of the teams, the changes that have been made in ET over the past few months and what the future holds for some of the top ET players as ET:QW is rapidly approaching.

The last interview of the weekend was with no one less than the first Crossfire Challenge Poker Champion, PLU172, who is also known as Frituurkoning (or as TosspoT pronounces it...frutirukroning) He explains what his secret is why he won the MCPoker tournament over DMasterX and what his favourite game is...(it is not ET or RtcW!)

To check out all of these insightful and interesting interviews, go to the VOD's section of QuadV.

Dutch ET:QW Community Release Party Announced!

With the release of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars coming up at September 28th, Activision has organized a special treat for the Dutch (and Belgian) ET:QW fans to play the retail version of the game, days before anyone else can. (if you consider that the game is expected to be sold out in the days after the release)

This upcoming Thursday, the TGS CyberCafés in The Hague and Rotterdam will house 200 of the fans that just cannot wait to play ET:QW and allow them to win some prizes by showing of your skill during that evening.

Starting at 18:00 CET, all gamers will be assigned a computer where you will start playing to be one of the top fourty gamers at each location. Following that those 40 gamers of each venue will go head to head with the other location to figure out which city has the better ET:QW gamers.

Concluding, there will be an opportunity to relax a little bit with your fellow ET:QW friends with some drinks. In addition, the winners of this ET:QW competition will be announced and given one of the very first ET:QW copies or (for the best gamer of the evening) a brand new video card. As a consolation to the lower skilled, every gamer will receive an exclusive ET:QW poster at the end of the evening.

The ET:QW release party will kick off at 18:00 CET. Gamers can sign up by mailing to [email protected] in which you enter your full name, place of residence and which location you would like to play for.

Important Reminders (updated)

To all participating teams a few very important reminders:

Following's Bullvox and Ronner's (serious and funny) checklist, here is a quick reminder of what you should bring beside the obvious:

1. Make it identifiable that it is yours on the outside. (a sticker for example)
2. Put a password on it.
3. If you have a laptoplock, bring it just to be safe.
4. If you need internet access, either ask evo POLITELY if you can join his wireless access point or bring a UDP cable of at least 10 meters.

Passport (It is mandatory in the Netherlands to have it with you at all times)
Travel and health insurance cards
Good humor ofc.

Up until this time, we have received the phone numbers from only three teams (Auxilia, Verdiend, Dignitas). Please notify whoever is in charge to send us their contact information ASAP. Mail them to tosspot at gmail dot com and cash at clanbase dot com please.

For those that are bringing their own systems, such as laptops for coverage purposes. Please also bring an UDP cable (regular LAN cable) with you that is at least 10 meters and preferably close to 15 meters. We will be very short on wiring, so that is something that we cannot provide you with.

Last, but probably most important. Please uninstall en reinstall your gaming hardware a few times to find out the proper working order, so you know how to install your stuff swiftly. It will reduce the stress for you to be ready in time and it gives you some decent warmup minutes.

We are also still looking for someone who would be able to transport 3 monitors (2 crt and 1 tft) and a shuttle pc from Amsterdam on thursday or in worst case scenario friday morning. We will compensate for gas and perhaps the invested time.

See you all in Enschede!

Even though it will take us some time after the signups close at midnight to announce the qualifier matches, we have decided to release the maps that will feature in the first, and only, qualifying round in order to give teams the opportunity to use this Sunday as a good practice night.

The ET map pool will be Radar, sw_Goldrush_te, Frost_Comp_b2 (teams select one each) with the non chosen map being the decider map.
Teams need to be aware that their matches HAVE to be played on one of the two qualifying days, February 27th and 28th. You can download Frost Final Here

The CoD2 map will be carentan.

Based on the current sign ups, the matches will be pre-scheduled spread out over both nights with mandatory starting times at 20:30, 21:30 and 22:30 CET.
If teams want to reschedule, it can only be done if the opponent agrees to reschedule. However the starting time HAS to be within the two qualification days.

Serious Gaming take in EuroCup Champs

image: seriousxfirekv4
It is just over a month since the EuroCup finals in Aarhus, Denmark and since the day Check Six lifted the cup speculation has been abound as to their future, if there was to be one. Today that has come to an end though, with the news that Check Six will be joining up with the top European organisation Serious-Gaming, the home of the Polish Quake 4 prodigy av3k and a successful Warcraft 3 team. They will provide the former Check Six side full support to attend LAN events around the world and after the trouble they had with former organisations the move should come as a relief to the players themselves. Their first event will be the WonderBase LAN in Boras, Sweden where they will take on their old rivals Dignitas as well as a host of new challengers such as Copenhagen-Esports, Logitech.fi and Cubic.

The lineup remains unchanged from the one that took the EuroCup crown except for one addition. Stim, formerly of Logitech.fi and Idle.ee will join the team as Plaekki travels to work in Germany for a few weeks. Stim was a star performer at both the Playz LAN and the original Call of Duty EuroCup X LAN finals so should slot nicely into the all-star Serious lineup. Plaekki was a big performer for the team at the recent EuroCup finals though and it will be interesting to see how the team reacts to his temporary departure. Ever since Stim left Logitech it was rumoured he was playing with the Check Six team and not for the first time, the rumours have been proved correct. He will be playing at WonderBase with the team and will be looking to impress on his first competitive outing.

The following players will be representing Serious.CoD2:

Ireland Liam 'Crow' Crowley
Sweden Martin 'mint' Röjder
Sweden Rickard 'zEm' Intveld
Finland Sami 'Sacrim' Nieminen
Finland Timo 'Stim' Arminen
Finland Otto 'plaekki' Kuisma
