ESL Summer Leagues 2011 Groups Announced

image: 160071iGroups are now done and live as all participants were waiting for some time now.
We had some problems regarding the seedings of the teams, as there were 64 teams in 3on3 and 72 teams in 5on5 that needed to be seeded accordingly with the rating that was given by team captains. Hopefully, we'll not have so many swaps requests due to few divisions and precise ratings.
Also, the schedule for this competition has changed a little bit. We now have 5 playweeks for the groupstage. Here's how the schedule looks:
  • 7th of June - 12th of June - Swaps
  • 13th of June - 19th of June - First matchweek
  • 20th of June - 26th of June - Second matchweek
  • 27th of June - 3rd of July - Third matchweek
  • 4th of July - 10th of July - Fourth matchweek
  • 11th of July - 17th of July - Fifth matchweek[/b]
  • 18th of July - 24th of July - Playoffs announcement
We ask all players and teams to play their match before every Sunday or on Sunday, to avoid having the match decided by an admin.Other informations like groups, mappool, how to swap and rules can be found in the original ESL newspost.

AEF will not happen...

image: aef_smallLast year saw one of the most cleanly-run Enemy Territory LAN tournaments in the game's history. Since then, everybody has speculated if AEF will feature the game at its next installment (supposedly this year). After months of no announcement, hopes grew thin and questions were starting to be asked. Today, Steven Leunens (dfb) confirmed that the event will, sadly, not go ahead due to some complications in the organisation of PCs and other logistical issues.

SAGE: Seeding playoffs

Playoffs for the SAGE seeding tournament are due to take place this coming Sunday & Monday, and a full schedule can be seen below. The draw was made LIVE on IRC! an hour after the preseed groupstage and we are happy to announce the first sets of games for the playoffs.

Team Dignitas venture into Brink

Most people have already been speculating about it, but now it is official, Team Dignitas is venturing into Brink! After trying out the game for several weeks we have now found a stable lineup to represent us in this new shooter game.

image: brink

A few weeks ago three players of our Enemy Territory squad started playing Brink, together with an old friend Bjorn 'Bjorn' Rombaut and a new face, Jesper 'Rulah' Sundell. They instantly made an impression by qualifying for Assembly Summer 2011 and after that they won the Brink Championship European Qualifier, claiming the first place in Brinkish.eu's Top10 ranking at the same time.

The lineup will now officially be representing us in Brink. They have set target on winning both the Assembly LAN aswell as the Brink Championship, which holds a €15,000 prize pot. Please give the squad a warm welcome, especially the two new players!

Team Dignitas Brink is
Sebastian 'drago' Ohrmann
Hendrik-William 'Anderson' Kinks
Jaka 'JaKaZc' Kejzar
Jesper 'Rulah' Sundell
Bjorn 'Bjorn' Rombaut

#ALMIGHTY.ET @ SAGE

image: qweqwq

It was around a year ago now that ALMIGHTY was present @ AEF lan. We had two teams obviously a lot better than us in our group in Belgium OVERLOAd and Netherlands Acsi and unfortunately they were a bit too good for us. However, we managed to win the consolation tournament and finished 9th out of 24 teams, which we were happy with in the end, considering it was the first lan for 4 of us.

Now a year later, we will once again be present @ SAGE lan. We think we can do a lot better this time around as the lineup is a lot stronger and there are only 16 teams.

Without further ado, here is the lineup that will represent the ALMIGHTY nation:

United Kingdom KAMZ
United Kingdom miXer
United Kingdom crumbs
Netherlands Ati_
Netherlands vaNq

Quote by KAMZAfter finding out United Kingdom Jinosta will not be able to attend with us due to financial problems, we needed a good 5th so we decided to take in vaNq who previously played in Sublime/Overdose with me and miXer.

Our goal would be to go for top 6 but we know it will be difficult because there are 7/8 teams with a better lineup than us on paper. But we believe we can do well as the chemistry is good in the team and everybody gets on with each other :)

Wish us luck!

Spot16 Full at SAGE LAN

The latest spot for the SAGE LAN event has been filled, and it is with a built for LAN lineup consisting of some very skilled and familair names, presenting the 'Spot16' lineup:

Netherlands lightning
United Kingdom meez
Germany sNoOp
Malta toxic
Germany zerenderimage: sage_small

With the assitance of Next Evolution ESC. this team is able to attend the event and will hopefully be able to challenge for a top position in the playoffs. The team will first be taking part in the seeding group phase and will come up against WinFakt, NORDIC and epic over the course of the evening.

SC2: MLG Pro Circuit Columbus

It's time again for North America's biggest offline tournament! From June 03 till June 05 the players will be battling for MLG's $14.000 Dollar pricepool at the Greater Columbus Convention Center located in Columbus, Ohio. Last MLG had some very exciting three days of Starcraft 2 and Major League Gaming's CEO United States of America Sundance promised an even better tournament for this weekend. There will be an improved stream, new player booths and an epic line up of United States of America Americans, Europe Europeans and even some top notch Korea, Republic of Koreans.

Will image: protoss-big Sweden Naniwa be able to repeat his outstanding performance of a streak of 25 wins and only 2 losses and come off as the winner of MLG's second tournament this year? Or will Koreans like image: protoss-big Korea, Republic of MC prove to be too strong or the Swedish power house? We will see soon!

Anexis to make an Impact

image: anexis2

It's been a while since we saw a large scale ET Lan, the last one was the Belgium Antwerp eSports festival where we saw this squad under a different name come 2nd, since then the squad made lineup changes with mAus coming into the team replacing United Kingdom meez and for a short while Netherlands m1lk replaced an inactive Netherlands hayaa. The squad went on to win Eurocup twice amongst other tourneys.

PPP Gaming hits CoD

Activision have done everything in their power to milk their bastard child of a game COD for more money and today they've taken that to a new level with Pay Per Play subscription gaming announced for Call of Duty Elite.

Whilst little is known about what features will be locked to paid customers and generally what the subscription entails the service will be there to rinse you of your hard earned cash for something they're still going to release a new version as soon they can. The price point for this service is rumoured to be under the $7 mark.

It will be launched for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and be labeled the "Elite" subscription option. No this doesn't mean they're likely to migrate back to the 1337 gamers that haven't touched the series since CoD4, but it does mean for those gamers focused on facebook achievement stats you'll be over the moon.
