BRINK Video Round-up

image: newbrinhn

Further gameplay videos revealing the mysteries of Brink have been appearing all over the internet since Sainted's original gameplay news item. If you haven't been keeping an eye on the journals and comments, now is a time for you to catch up with everything Brink.

Important notes: Richard Ham (Rahdo on Crossfire) has been commenting on the Splash Damange forums stating that there have been a lot of changes to Brink. All these videos are "really old" to a point where it is "painful" for Splash Damage themselves to watch. Read the quotes below for further information.

Team CoolerMaster Remastered!

After United Kingdom Mark ‘phantasy’ Pinny left Team CoolerMaster for Team Dignitas, a new CoD4 lineup was in the making. Yesterday the new lineup was announced, seeing the departure of Adam ‘TW!ST’ Cheshire. The two new members are United Kingdom Christian ‘stylez’ Hart and Germany Kevin ‘reflexzR’ Klempra.

Team CoolerMaster will look to continue its successful performance, which consists out of the following recent victories:

UKeSA Premiership
ESL Pro Series UK
Multiplay i37
The Experience 2009

The new lineup now looks like this:

United Kingdom Carl "vasquez" Finch
Netherlands Robin "robyYE" Swaters
United Kingdom Declan "germaine" Elcocks
Germany Kevin "reflexzR" Klempera
United Kingdom Christian "stylez" Hart

The team will be performing at CIC7, and we wish them the best of luck!

Declan "germain" Elcocks' statement]The past month or so has been somewhat of a rocky road for us at TCM, we went from being a team improving leaps and bounds with each event we attended to being merely Robin and I. With Tw!st deciding to hang up his mouse and keyboard, at least in terms of competitive gaming, and phantasy deciding to persue his dreams with the dignitas guys. It didn't really look too good, and then Carl dropped the bombshell that he would need to be inactive due to a lot more work hours. Me and Robin tried practically anyone and everyone we thought would be good pickups initially, but it didn't really seem right without the father of gaming at the helm. So we were really over the moon when Carl came on one night to tell us he was returning to activity.

Forunately Carl told us he would be coming back to activity just as we found the two people we wanted to carry on playing with, Chris (Stylez) and Kevin (reflexzR) are both on the same page as the rest of us strategically and mentally, which is what we wanted, and most importantly I can see us getting on perfectly fine at LAN. Hopefully you'll see us soon in as many tournaments as possible! Oh, and I'd like to take the opportunity to give a thanks to the two managers at TCM, walkah and Xman, they've been putting in a lot of effort with the organisation and players, and I'd like to thank them for being able to work with them for the past 6 months or more :)!

Christian "stylez " Hart's statement]Being away from the game for awhile I wasn't too interested in the scene or competitive play. I got asked randomly just to play in a mix team for the esports heaven cup with Germaine, it made me realise the game is still fun and i've been missing competitive play. Since mw2 turned out to be a complete shambles and the community deciding to stay with cod4 I was hungry to get back involved. TCM have supported cod4 from it's release and have always had a solid team to represent them. There was only one answer I could give when TCM approached me with plans to bring, myself and Reflexzr in for the new lineup. I look forward to be flying the TCM flag in their already established team and to play under the wing of Mr.Awareness himself!

Kevin "reflexzR " Klempera's statement]After the summer lans, TeX and OOF3 I took a break from gaming for quite awhile just playing casually in the german EPS ladder with TBH.MSI. I really look forward to returning to the cod4 scene again after seeing how the community stuck by it. It's great to be back and here with a great TCM line-up, they are a great bunch of guys and i'm proud to play for them. I'm sure Stylez and I can will fill the gap left by Phan and Twist.

CoD Community shows its size

image: cic-header

The Call of Duty community have responded to yesterdays indecision regarding no Modern Warfare 2 tournament at the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 with a show of defiance towards their preferred title, Modern Warfare 1. The game which has a very successful history at the challenge series may well be making return after a whopping 30 teams confirmed both interest and finances to attend the event and a further 15 teams declaring just interest.

You can see the full list of teams interested in attending on this TEK9 thread. Hats off to Vanner for compiling that list and mobilising the community and as a result of that when we open up the payments for ET later this week, we will also open up CoD payments on the triggered prize system mentioned in that post.

Secondly and the reason why this is filtered as Crossfire rather than CoD is that TEK9 hero Jetset has written a mammoth guide for teams planning on attending the Crossfire Challenge. In this guide here you can see a monumental guide for all forms of travel and accommodation in the local area which will certainly help your travel plans for CIC7.

BRINK footage and fall 2010 release date

Today the very first official BRINK footage has hit the Internet, along with a new release date: Fall 2010.

In the footage BRINK's game director and Splash Damage CEO United Kingdom Paul "Locki" Wedgwood walks you through the airport map and shows some of BRINK's "smart" movement.

G4TV HD

The game is currently pre-alpha, and features three different body types: muscled; smart, not very agile, can carry heavy guns and eat a lot of bullets; regular; and acrobatic, faster, limited to lighter guns, can't catch too many bullets. It is as of yet unknown with what body type the video was recorded.

Fall League Playoffs

Announcing the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7

image: cic-header

It is with great pleasure that today I can announce the title sponsor of the Crossfire Challenge 7, Intel. Intel has long been the biggest supporter of eSports and it brings great pride that they have chosen to back Crossfire and its community. Intel's support of CIC7 enhances our ability to continue delivering top notch events with stronger prizes, more tournaments and a better playing environment.

For the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 you can look forward to Enemy Teritory 5vs5 in all of its glory and to support the transition over to 5vs5 for ET, we will be running the Intel 1 night cups on every Sunday throughout December up until Christmas. Intel will also be supporting the Quakelive Community Challenge with a Quakelive duelling competition at CC7 with the winner taking home a brand new Intel Core i7 processor. We’ll also be adding an Intel supported new game to our title list for the event which will be announced nearer the time.

For Wolfenstein fans we will not be following through with this tournament due to lack of an active competitive community. With regards to Modern Warfare we’re currently delaying our decision on what to do with the game due to its competitive difficulties, we will confirm the full additional game titles for CIC7 by Christmas.

I hope you find this news as exciting as I do as it brings about a bright future for the Crossfire Challenge series!

About Intel - Intel pushes the boundaries of innovation so our work can make people's lives more exciting, fulfilling, and manageable. And our work never stops. We never stop looking for the next leap ahead—in technology, education, culture, manufacturing, and social responsibility. And we never stop striving to deliver solutions with greater benefits for everyone.

Clown had the following to say ahead of the big match:
QuoteWell, we are prepared for the game vs zZz, we've pracced enough, but that doesn't really matter because we play the same no matter how much we pracc. It just depends on maps and our comms if we win or not!

During this fourth matchweek I have decided to make a breakdown of the games so far. Additionally I would like to remind all teams that all groupmatches need to be played by the 8th of december.

Leading and probably untouchable are SwedenKiH with two wins out of their two games. The return of Swedenarne and the potential comeback of Swedenrefuse might be what KiH were missing during the last cups to finally end up on top again.

The battle for the second and third place however is still underway and everything is possible.
The biggest surprise of the cup so far is definitely Hungarycaves victory over Finlandfixed. After their disapointing performance in RTCW-Cup III the hungarians have improved a lot and currently hold the second place in group A.

EuropeiAm disapointed so far but the team has already proven in previous cups that they can beat everyone and they can still move on to the playoffs by beating Hungarycave and PolandSexy Lovers.

Also the underdogs PolandSexy Lovers are surely capable of causing an upset. The team lead by FF-legend PolandFrag'Stealer! around the former diversus players Polandkot, Polandbuzka and Polandrobol has only played SwedenKiH until now so that it is hard to estimate their skill at the moment.

Both GermanyHighbot and United Kingdom118 are undefeated so far and both teams already qualified for the playoffs. What might appear to have been a walkover for both in reality involved some really close and challenging games.

It was Europeskk! consisting of current Enemy Territory Eurocup-finalists Netherlandsperfo, United Kingdommeez and Polandwiaderko who first pinched a round from GermanyHighbot and then almost went to a decider against United Kingdom118 in a very close game. But it was United Kingdomcrumbs with some great individual actions who saved the game:

Even Europeliquids impressed taking a round on base in their match against GermanyHighbot and they can still challenge Europeskk! for the third place.

The fifth team in the group is United KingdomElement aR who at the most have a outside chance. Still if Swedenslajdan, Swedennordan and the others can convey their Enemy Territory experiance to RTCW we could see some good games.

United KingdomChaos the former raw team have proven themselves and have shown they are still strong even with the recent lineupchanges by destroying EuropeRewind on frostbite and ice. Most notably Germanyurtier did a great job showing some nice aim and well placed strikes.
On the other side only Estonianight played up to full potential. Chaos clearly exposed Rewinds lack of practise and preparation which they will certainly need more of if they want to do well in the playoffs.
Although they have to get past the estonians first. This should be a doable task however since EstoniaCircle of Haste have failed to impress so far losing both their matches against EuropeChaos and EuropeFallanx.

Europe[MAD] - a shrubteam making their first steps into osp-competition are unlikely to influence the outcome of the group but they can hopefully get some experiance for the following cups :)

The first two spots in group D will be played out between EuropeNo Pressure and FranceJeanRoucasFans.
Replacing BelgiumsyL who left for Rewind FinlandMystic only recently made his comeback into RTCW. Having him Norwaykris, Netherlandsmirage and Finlandjauhis No Pressure combine some of the best aiming players in the game.
On the contrary we have former svperfrogs BelgiumaRno, Francemaxuh, Francemote and Francemomo who surely won't be intimidated by those names. They have not had much practise though so No Pressure look to be the favorites going into the match.

The other decisive game in the group will be played between Europeindomitus and GermanyPMCG. The winner of the match will move to the playoffs while the loser is out.
Both teams have not performed at their best yet so it is likely going to to be a close game.

Dreamhack QL Final Standings: Av3k Wins!

image: voxydx

Poland Av3k won the Dreamhack Quake Live Tournament after beating Sweden Z4muZ in what started out as a complete runover by the Polish player. After winning the first map and almost securing the victory on the second map, his mouse died and he chose to replay that second map. Z4muZ couldn't change the inevitable though, and while putting up a good fight, Av3k was simply better. The third map was a walk in the park for the Pole.
This concludes our coverage of the Dreamhack Quake Live competition. If you missed some of the big games, you might find them by browsing through the VODs of ustream.tv and levelupyourgame.
