ixus win Netgamez 2007 Spring Edition

image: netgamezlogozl5
Call of Duty 2 coverage brought to you by sCARFACEEe and TosspoT!

Crossfire is back at Netgamez and will be covering the Call of Duty 2 tournament once again. With a handful of big teams in attendance its very possible that we could see not only some upsets but some fantastic matches.

Through to the play-offs ...
So the groups are finished and to many the results aren't surprising as we go forward into the play-offs. Both H2k-Gaming squads including Qpad and Thermaltake are through with an all win streak, but the winnings will stop for one of the squads as they both meet in the first round of the winner bracket. Very tense for both squads as they continue to rage through the Netgamez tournament. Also former digitalMind squad ixus have proceeded to the play-offs and also former dSLASH squad Team-Adacom have made it through. timere, Arousing and #Ephix 1 have all passed the group stages successfully and Team-EDiT also.

This will make for an interesting play-off table and we will have to wait and see what happens with strong squads still remaining!

Final Standings

2. Netherlands H2k.Qpad (€400)

Netherlands Rubber Duckies (10-13) Germany Team-Adocom

The germans picked up an unconvincing victory over the former CYBERATEZ side, despite being the better team throughout the match they took their time in sealling the deal. Kholli was inspirational with the rifle on burgundy, racking up 27 frags but the spread was quite large down to Flashrr who was in the low teens with his frags. Murdoc had some notable double frags to secure rounds in the second half, but at times it looked like we were headed to overtime.

After racing away with the early rounds, adacom got to 7 in no time. They were however pinned back by half time by 4 rounds from the dutch side. On allies, despite Kholli playing well with the sniper (notably landing one amazing frag on Heroic) the side lost cohesion getting and defending the bomb down at B and that allowed the duckies to get 10 rounds.[/hide]

We know that the date happens to be at the same time as CrossFire but due to other bookings at Level 7, this was the only available weekend. However we still expect this to be high quality lan with great teams. Of course there will be lots of finnish teams coming but we are also expecting teams around the Europe to come to the lan. Level 7 staff is working hard with the sponsors and final prizes will be announced soon.

WZZRD CoD2 Wildcard Tournament - 2 Spots Remaining

Update: For the time being, only two spots remain available for the tournament, for those that are considering to enter the competition, please make yourselves heard ASAP by contacting Cash by email at cash at clanbase dot com

After numerous inquiries for the spot left by the departing Slovenia oxid, we've been working with our sponsors at WZZRD to create an exciting way of offering the last place.

WZZRD.nl and Crossfire.nu felt that giving the lower ranked teams the opportunity to make its mark among the big boys is something that should be supported at any major e-Sports event in order to boost the competitive CoD2 scene more and more.

With inparticular a large number of Netherlands Dutch and Benelux BeNeLux teams wishing to play at the Crossfire Prizefight challenge, WZZRD.nl have kindly volunteered to run a LAN qualifier for us at their Utrecht venue.

On Sunday April 1st, at 13:00 CET the tournament will kick off. Six teams (might be increased) will be able to compete to win the very final and more importantly free spot on the final sixteen teams at the Crossfire Prizefight Challenge.

For a special price of just 10 Euros per participating player, six teams will be given the chance to win the Wild Card. Teams will be selected on a first come and confirm, first serve basis.

Inquiries and registration can be done by mailing to cash at clanbase dot com.

Prizes:
1. Entrance fee for CPC sponsored by Wzzrd.nl
2. Bootcamp at one of the WZZRD venues worth of 100 euros.

Date:
Sunday April 1, 13:00 CET - 20:00 CET

Teams
Only six spots are currently available.

Note:
Advance payment information will follow.
The first four confirmed team can use the opening hours prior to the start of the tournament for bootcamping purposes.[/hide]

Payment and replacement options

The payment deadline passed rather uneventfully in comparisson to CPC1. There were a handful of team dropouts since the tournament was announced, but they quickly were replaced by qualifier teams as stated in the details here

CoD - Czech Republic iR replaced by Germany dSLASH
ET - Finland Murso replaced by Sweden KiH
ET - Germany Helix replaced by Netherlands mQ

It does look like we'll have one spot free in the ET tournament after having to remove suXus and potentially one in the CoD, however we're waiting for a number of payments to clear and then sort the matter out. International bank transfers are anything but efficient in their time to clear, and whilst we are currently short of the money generated from the signups, many people have provided receipts of transfer without us having yet got their money.

The first come first serve payment lottery will be used for the one ET spot and any potential more spots that become available in any of the tournaments however not until at least next Tuesday when we've given the banks time to get their act in gear for those that paid this week. Do not fear, explanations on how this process will work will be posted 24 hours prior to any opening of signups for the place.

Note that if you've not been contacted about your payment then its gone through fine.

3. 1.000 €

CPC Map Contest Live

The life of a map maker is a hard one at best. Much time invested, little credit rewarded! Think of the thousands of maps that come and go without an eyebrow raised within the competitive community, here at Crossfire we hope to change that.

With the upcoming Crossfire Lan 2 scheduled for April 13/14/15, we decided to host a map competition for both ET & CoD2, with the winning maps included in the 6 map pool at the lan finals and the winning map designers taking home over 100 euros worth of SteelSeries products.

The deadline passed last Sunday March 11 and we got a phenomenal response. In total Crossfire received 6 maps for Enemy Territory and 1 for Call of Duty. Please remember these maps are still in the early stages of development due to the short timescale available - all feedback is appreciated.

They are:

Enemy Territoy

Bremen_b1 - Map Overview
Field_hq_b2
Odenthal_b2 - Map Overview (Note - the tank will have a purpose past the wall in _b3)
Sub_base
Wolken1_cpc - Map Overview
Vio_grail_b3 - Map Overview

All of the maps are now being looped on the Crossfire server - 82.192.84.231:27930

Call of Duty

Due to only one entry there's no contest. Changes are currently being made after feedback from private testing. More information will be released shortly.

All this week intensive play testing will begin, with exhibitional matches running during the week and competing teams needing to test the maps. Each clan leader will vote for the winning map which will be announced next week on Wednesday 21 March.

Update - Viograil is also in the competition, TosspoT foolishly forgot to forward it. Really sorry to Violator for this

ET to be played at The Party V?

image: theparty5fi9

Rules are there to be broken and changes are there to be made. If we want Enemy Territory to become a major game, we will need to make changes, and it is us who need to take action. If we want to see Enemy Territory represented at the largest events troughout the world, we will need to show the world we are worth it!

The first step in bringing competive Enemy Territory to a higher level is to get it played! There are various events troughout Europe were our game could be featured, but it isn't. I think this is because we show no interest to the outside world that we want to get it there.

From 20 April until 22 April here in The Netherlands, a large LAN named The Party V will take place. Officially this LAN will not feature an ET competition, but I would like to see this changed. That's why I contacted their organisation and asked them about a possible Enemy Territory competition, and they said Yes, but there will only be prizes only if at least 10 clans / teams will attend. 10 clans / teams is all we need to get Enemy Territory featured at one of the largest BYOC LANs in the Benelux. Would you discard the chance to meet your online friends in real life and finaly play versus your opponents without lag or suspicion? Then playing on a LAN is suitable for you!

The Party V
Location: Eindhoven, The Netherlands (map)
Date: 20 April until 22 April
Entry: € 38.50 in advance or € 45 at the event itself
Max Attendees: 1000
Website: http://www.the-party.nl
Type: BYOC LAN
Prizes: Hardware from the sponsors

If your team is interested in going, please tell us by replying here, if one sheep leaps over the ditch the rest will likely follow!

zeroPoint! takes in FeTTe

image: zeropointvl7

The Enemy Territory team of the swedish multigaming organisation zeroPoint! Gaming has proven to be one of the strongest teams around Europe nowerdays. Reaching a third place at Poznan Game Arena 2006 after beating dignitas in the qualifiers and placing second at both Clanbase Eurocup and shgOpen 2007 they showed why a lot of people were calling them the best team behind Dignitas.

Trying to do their best at the next Lan event Crossfire Prizefight Challenge II once more, they had to restructure their attending lineup due to the unavailibility of Germany Hatred and Austria rapture. Former backup player Germany keran will enter the main lineup for the following period of time like he already did at shgOpen.

[img|RIGHT]http://nll.org.uk/fettetz9.jpg[/img]A sixth player was soon found with former infensus and KiH player Sweden FeTTe who already played together with Switzerland gifty at Quakecon 2006.

“We are glad to have a proper replacement for Hatred who is unable to attend the CPC II. As we were looking for a 6th player to join our team there was just one guy we all agreed on - the swedish powerhorse FeTTe“ Statement by team captain Austria Darky.

zeroPoint's lineup for CPC II looks now as follows:

zeroPoint! Austria Darky
zeroPoint! Austria potter
zeroPoint! Switzerland Gifty
zeroPoint! Germany keran
zeroPoint! Germany butchji
zeroPoint! Sweden FeTTe

Good luck and a lot of fun to zeroPoint in Enschede :>
