This sunday the 5th of november,

#1Day-Cup will organise it's 4th cup and this time we would like to make it huge.
Instead of 32 teams, we are looking for 64 teams who want to play a match or more on a sunday afternoon for fun.

This Wednesday (the first of november) at 20.00 CET the signups will open so you can signup for this cup.

The first 64 teams ( or we don't get that number 32 ) will be participating.

We wish you good luck and fun for this cup.

6on6 Nationscup announced

image: nc

The ET-Cup is glad to announce that we're hosting our first edition of a 6on6 Nationscup!

After Germany *secretperson* and me talked to alot of nation captains and players, we saw that almost all the country's are still interested in playing 6on6 - rather than 5on5. That's why we took this oppertunity and why we're starting this great cup. A list of teams who have agreed to play 6on6 can be found here, other teams decisions are there too.

At the moment, we're at the Semi-Finals of the ET-Cup, hopefully we'll see the final upcoming Sunday, so we can prepare the website for the Nationscup.

Every country, also the country's who already gave there "Yes"-word to 6on6 has to sign up by mailing [email protected], this is to avoid fake-signups on our website. Please mail me your Nation, Tag, Captain, IRC Channel and Lineup. The signups will close on Friday 10 November 24:00 CET, so choose your captain and signup! After you signed up your country, please contact me on IRC.

The rules and maplist will be made this week, we'll try to make both rules and maps with the captains together, so they can share there opinion about the maps and we have a more even cup.

The ET-Cup is also looking for staff to help organising this cup. We're searching for people who'd like to make some coverage newsposts, to do some interviews with teams and who like to admin some matches. If you're interested, feel free to either PM me on IRC or mail me at [email protected].

We do NOT want to split the community into 5on5/6on6, we only want the best for ET like it was for a long long time. If the majority choses for 5on5, we'll close the cup and go with them.

For now, this is the idea, I'd like to see as much signups as possible! Good luck to everyone.

Crossfight signups open

image: fight

Soon season 2 of the koth competition will start, dressed in new clothes! Under the new name Crossfight and an altered/improved format, we hope to see some very nice games over the coming weeks and months.

I would like to confirm now that we will be running the competition in 6v6. We will use the Crossfight 6v6 Online config, a download can be found here.

To find the starting teams, we will be running a short 'cup' on Wednesday 8th November. The signup limit is 20 teams, with 5 groups of 4 teams giving 2 qualifiers from each group. This results in 10 Crossfight teams plus United Kingdom cdap oddjob who have already qualified. While these teams will begin in Crossfight, their places are open to be taken by outside clans who challenge them. More details about this can be found in the rules.

If your clan wishes to take part in Crossfight, please click here and include your clanname as it appears on Crossfire. If your clan is not registered already, please go to the register page. Signups are first come, first serve. Please only apply if you are realistically Opencup Premier skill or higher. Don't worry if I don't reply!

I mentioned that the format has changed. Crossfight is now fully integrated into Crossfire 3 and uses an easy-to-use user interface to schedule matches and manage your Crossfight agenda. This will become apparent when the section goes live after the conclusion of this cup. A list of all the rules and format details can be seen on the rules page (live soon). A cup page will be updated with signups and a bracket, you can find it here (starting cup page).

Signups are now closed, thank you!

Tek-9 win Milk Lan 06

image: milkxfireaa8

A night of intense gaming ended in victory for Tek-9 who came right through the Lower Bracket and managed to take down home favourites Webone on two maps. Sporting an all-new lineup, Tek-9 were touted by many to make the top 3 but the likes of digital Mind and Speedlink were supposed to be in better form. Tek-9 silenced their doubters though, taking down both these teams in convincing fashion and despite losing to Webone in the Upper Bracket Final they kept their cool to take their revenge on Toujane and then Matmata.

Full credit to Webone though, nobody could have predicted they would do so well and the partisan crowd in the Milk Internet Hall in Paris must have spurred them on. They knocked down both Speedlink and originally Tek-9 to the Lower Bracket and maybe with a bit more experience have sealed the deal. It was not to be however but they can be proud to take second place while others below them appear to be in freefall. Speedlink in particular had yet another disappointing event, the sole high point of which was taking down a distinctly lacklustre digitalMind side in the Lower Bracket.

Final Standings:

1st Place: Europe Tek-9 (€1,200 + €1,500 hardware)
2nd Place: France Webone (€700+ €1,000 hardware)
3rd Place: Germany Team Speedlink (€200 + €500 hardware)
4th Place: Netherlands DigitalMind (€100 + €400 hardware)
5th Place: Czech Republic eSuba (€300)
6th Place: France emuLate (€200)
7th Place: France Takecare (€100)

Croatia - the rose and its thorn

image: logo3(1)

Croatia Croatia, a country which combines its mediterranean climate with beautiful land and sky with the more negative side of it's still struggling economy and politics. The 4.5 million strong population is spread over both it's main land with boasting cities and over the 1100 islands who are nothing short of expirienced when it comes to war, revolting against our Yugoslavian occupiers up to the point when we gained our independence in 1991 and from then up till 1995 battling the Serbs in order to defend our homes, our territory and our beautiful nation; once again we are ready for combat proudly representing our nation. Some of you may not realise this but Croatia's Enemy Territory community is also six feet under, yet still we are battling our way out of the coma and with players representing teams such as Europe aMenti, Croatia Cortana and Croatia elite we will represent our nation with a lineup of:

Croatia aCoZz
Croatia amserious
Croatia calisto
Croatia FroZzeN
Croatia gumiflex
Croatia p4h
Croatia rimi
Croatia ZL1NkO

We aim to give each opponent a good, hard and fair fight and to reach the playoffs. We wish all the luck to other National teams and hope to see them in combat.

Team Croatia would like to thank Slovenia Astral for his help on the team's logo and to United Kingdom Mashed whom helped with some of the news construction.

Helix vs vib - ESL IPS Final Stage Action

image: 1041 When Big Igor Voldov woke up this morning with a raging headache, you might be forgiven for excusing his naive visions of beating Helix on the grounds of last night's vodka party. But today's game against helix is more than just a chance of a win, its also vib's last real chance of staying alive in ESL's IPS series final stage. With near 13,000 euros at stake as displayed by this charming banner on my right, the stakes right now mean vib will be desperate to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

Helix meanwhile do not find themselves in such troublesome waters. Having taken a win against a struggling sFx LAN side in their opening game, a victory tonight would see the Germans move joint top alongside Idle and Diversus with 2 wins apiece out of two. Whilst a loss tonight would perhaps be seen as unthinkable for Helix who start as clear favourites, it would in no way have the same impact as a loss for Violence is Bad, who with two losses from two are now very much in last chance saloon. They can see the money slowly edging ever further away, and have a mountain to climb tonight if they are to avenge their previous defeats to aMenti and diversus. Violence could have met helix in less desperate times only this August if not for a cancelled ET-Cup game but now, only a win will do.

Team Switzerland takes on the Nations Cup

Dejavu? NO

It's been about nine months since anubis a.k.a LoyalPrincess a.k.a roude a.k.a hannes a.k.a tlitch wrote a news post about probably the best NC-Team there has ever been. No, we are not talking about Russia, we are talking about Switzerland Switzerland! Last time Switzerland we had some bad luck against Germany Team-Germania, which I'm confident won't happen again.

History:

After nearly winning the WorldCup in football we thought about winning it in ET, once more.
Not much changed since the last time, and I'm happy to present you some new, talented, fresh players as sadly ElEcTrO-bOy anubis prefers going to discos this days (<3) and GuNnEr has gone AWOL. Although some things never change, we still have the best cheese (Switzerland>Netherlands), the best chocolate (Switzerland>Belgium),the best knives(no doubt), the best watches (obviously) and are the richest! (Switzerland>Norway)

Anyway, I don't want to bother any longer, here is the Switzerland Swiss Enemy Territory Lineup!:

Main Lineup:

Switzerland gifty
Switzerland wck (Manager)
Switzerland vEg
Switzerland vegi
Switzerland DabSter
Switzerland Rapt6rr (150 ping, nP)

Switzerland Melkor
Switzerland ReavEr
Switzerland arrow
So better watch out, the cows are back!

Challenge-TV Appeal For Hosting

The popular demo hosting site Challenge-TV last night announced that their current hosting provided by OGL and Speakeasy will soon come to an end. For almost 7 years Challenge-TV has been the home of demos for the Quake series and currently hosts 1289 Enemy Territory demos.

Unless they can find a replacement hosting the site will cease to exist.

Site owner United States of America DonKing made this appeal:

QuoteFor the last 5 years or so we have stayed online because of the kindness of OGL and Speakeasy but things have changed and we will be losing hosting soon.

CHTV has been around for nearly 7 years and has been the #1 place to get demos for many people. All of the Network sites will are in jeopardy including promode.org and challenge-smackdown.com.

We have never asked anyone for anything until now. Without the help of someone out there we will lose hosting very very soon.
Please contact me if you are interested in helping. Thanks.
