Milk Lan: CoD2 Preview

image: xfiremilkvv8
The city of romance, Paris, will this weekend play host to the much-anticipated Milk Lan, featuring the likes of Speedlink, digitalMind and Tek-9 battling it out for the top prize. With Netgamez and the EuroCup already behind us there are not too many major events left in 2006, but Milk Lan is certainly one of them. Featuring a host of talented teams and situated in an internet gaming cafe in the centre of Paris, this Lan promises to be one to remember. While the likes of Dignitas and Check Six were unable to attend, there still remains a surplus of top teams, many of which go into the event with a little more on their mind than normal. The pressure mounts on Speedlink to show they can still dominate at the top level, Tek-9 are going to have to finish at least in the top three to show their new players still have the drive to succeed in CoD2 and teams such as digitalMind and suXus come into this event needing to prove that their respective successes at Netgamez were no fluke.

Prepare yourselves for a night of drama, action and excitement as the top teams in Europe battle it out. With nearly €3,000 in cash up for grabs the competition is sure to be fierce and a lot is likely to rest on who can stay focussed the longest and not let the tiredness and the nerves kick in. Kicking off at 8pm CET on the Saturday night, Milk Lan will run throughout the night and aims to finish up just in time for breakfast. Below you can find all the info relating to this event and more...

zP take on Idle in Crossfire PGA Qualifiers

image: 1pga_27

zP & CDAP are going to Poland! Timmy O'Toole lives on!

Tonights Scores
Belgium Finest 4-0 Latvia vib
Europe aMenti 4-2 Sweden noll8
Europe zP 4-0 Europe idle
Europe CDAP.PI > Belgium Finest
Europe aMenti 0-4 Europe CDAP.PI
Europe idle 0-4 Europe CDAP.PI

“When I grow up I want to beat Idle”, Said young Timmy O’Toole before he fell down the well. It was a crying shame that he fell down that well, but tonight we’ll see whether we have a challenger or two that may just be able to live out his dream!

Tonight at 20:30 CET Idle face the first of the potential suitors to their throne that they’ve sat on for oh so long. It will come in the winners bracket of the Crossfire PGA Qualifiers and it will see the real test of this winter season. The Qualifying process has seen 11 teams all put their money where their mouth is and bid for glory, and must be taken as a serious evaluation as to where competitive ET stands at the moment. And with that said, both zP and aMenti are using this as an opportunity to test their skill against idle.

Battle For Berlin - The Tournament Begins!

image: bfb_banner_xf

Battle For Berlin proudly presents the first round of tournament matches!

The first two days will encompass the first 16 matches, deciding who continues on in the Winners Bracket and who drops to the Losers Bracket and one step closer to elimination. Both days will be on the same map, Ice.

At this time we have designated servers so we can easily route all Radio-iTG shoutcasters, BFBRadio, and WolfTV crew to a server aswell as have an admin and team presence in a timely fashion. This will continue unless something arises where we can't provide a playing space; but that shouldn't be a problem.

Alot of players have been asking about Euro servers, and we are definately understanding your dilema. Don't fret tho, as we are looking into buying two London based servers. Hopefully, Look to see two Euro servers ready to be used by November 1st.

Crossfire 3: Changelog

Now that you have feasted your eyes upon Crossfire 3, let me tell you what there is to know about the new features of Crossfire 3:

General:

- New design. Unless you've been living in a cave for the last few days, you'll have noticed it by now. We currently do not support personal skin settings, although we may allow for this in the future. Send your kudos to Angrykid, foonr, taLa who have all played a role in the evolution from the first new design to this one. Special thanks go out to BobbyDigital from Newcastle United for creating the kick-ass banner !

- Overall security improvements. This has been one of the main reasons for the development of Crossfire 3. You will notice that you will be asked to confirm actions such as deleting content, adding and removing buddies, entering in CrossFight, etc. These are made to force you to use POST data, so that simply following a link can no longer directly perform an operation such as adding a buddy, removing a buddy, etc in the way it was possible on Crossfire 2. All incoming POST data is checked for malicious content, and is secured to make sure all incoming POST data originates from Crossfire.

- Some new content types have been introduced, including Movies, Tutorials, Interviews.

- Introduction of the Sticky status. Many of the content types (except Journals) now allow for the Sticky status, in which case a post will be listed at the top, regardless of its posting date and time.

ClanBase ET announces NationsCup X !

image: cbgoldlogont

As in every season, ClanBase is giving you some big cups to enjoy, well ... this season won't be any different !
As far as we know, most of you expected the next edition of the OpenCup or/and EuroCup.
But ClanBase has some other big surprise for you...

New RTCW Ladder Opened

image: wllogo

Yes after a few people from the community wanted to play some custom maps in offical wars. I thought it was time to open up some kind of way so that clans can choose to do so. But instead of going mad and adding loads of custom maps to the leagues and current ladders, I came up with a format so that this idea could happen.

Yekoms appointed coach of Team Dignitas

image: dignitasmainjq3

We have seen Yekoms and Mick alongside each other numerous times before, for example in TAG, Supermen and more recently Dignitas, but this time it will be with a twist. Instead of playing, Yekoms will instead be coaching Mick and his team mates in Dignitas. While this is common in games such as Quake 4 and Counter Strike it will be one of the first instances of this in Call of Duty 2. Yekoms will be helping the team with tactics and general issues in and out of game and will step in as a 5th player when needed. Dignitas manager ODEE will be hoping this will help his team step up and fulfill their potential to dominate European CoD2 in a way that only Speedlink have done before.

It is an interesting move by Dignitas and if it works out this could start a new trend in Call of Duty 2. The benefits of having a coach has already been proven in other main stream games and having an experienced player like Yekoms around to help out can hopefully do no harm. The team has a number of events coming up and a top performance is expected from the team that took 2nd place at the EuroCup Lan Finals.

Yekoms gave the following statement on team-dignitas.org...

"First of all id like to say its wonderful to be back in dignitas even if its only at the capacity of team coach/6th man, the reason I left c4u was mainly down to the reason I couldnt really play as a 5th as i wasnt online enough, so i was letting them down. I'd like to wish them the very best of luck however in the future. I am looking forward to helping dignitas in every way i can and hopefully they will reproduce the form that saw when winning top lans. A big thanks to mick aswell for being a sorted mate."

This leaves the full Team Digntias lineup as follows...

United Kingdom Mick
United Kingdom Dales
United Kingdom Raz
United Kingdom Trainee
United Kingdom beNN

United Kingdom Yekoms (team coach)

PGA Qualifiers, The Bracket & Fixtures

image: 1pga_27
The time is nigh, with just 1 month until Poland is invaded by gamers coming to win big bucks, we must find our two European based ET Teams to compete for 2,500 euros at the Poznan Gaming Arena!

After having 11 sign ups, we went around asking for opinions from all corners of ET for seedings, as many teams and rosters are in a state of transition at the moment, and we have seeded the teams and put them into a bracket. All matches will be played using the Crossfire 5on5 Config.

Teams can chose their own maps (from Radar, sw_Goldrush, Frostbite, SupplyDepot2 & Adlernest), with the decider (if needed) being selected by elimination. However, teams cannot chose the same map two matches in a row. A coin toss should be used to select which team choses whether to attack or defend first in the deciding map. Teams are invited to arrange all the match servers long in advance of their matches.

Matches will begin at 19:00 CET on Wednesday 25th of October and Thursday 26th, scheduling will be extremely loose, with teams requested to start their next game as soon as their opponents are ready. Teams must play until at least 22:00 CET on Wednesday to guarantee a successful completion of the cup within two days. We request teams assistance in managing their free time during the bracket, whilst waiting for their next game. All team leaders are requested to check their email inboxes for tournament channel details

The Double Elimination Bracket can be viewed HERE, teams have been seeded from 1 to 11, and there are some BYE's for the higher seeded teams. Read more for the seeding list:
