Prizefight TV Airs!

image: pf1_final
Prize Fight Television starts this Friday, on Sumo TV (Sky 146) at 20:30 BST. It features the UK's first televised Counter-Strike: Source match - including commentary by Inside The Game favourite's, ReDeYe and TosspoT.

That's what we do for you over here in the Prize Fight Bunker. We spend all our time thinking up ways to keep you entertained and off the streets. So as well as playing games for cash prizes - now you can watch those games, televised and analysed. After all, that's the purpose of Prize Fight TV - showcasing the games played on the Prize Fight servers.

PFTV will also become the UK's first televised gaming league. If you've been keeping abreast of PF news, you'll know that big money sponsored tournaments are coming to Prize Fight and it is exactly these kind of events which will be covered on the show. Key matches from the forthcoming leagues will be covered and deconstructed by subject matter experts.

For now though, we're keeping things pretty simple. We'll be taking a look at matches played on our servers; but you'll also get gaming-culture chat; tips, tricks and special guests. And with military tactics offered by a professional, tougher-than-a-coffin-nail, British soldier - you'll also get a chance to raise your game by learning tried and tested real world techniques and see how they can be applied to the game environment.

Get with the programme. Starts Friday 20:30 BST, Sumo TV, Sky 146.

ET gets its SummerCup

image: cb2
You may have read or heard stewie's interview with ClanBase supervisor Adacore recently on Radio iTG, in which he confirmed that the logistics of organising and playing out a summercup would prove nigh-on impossible, and consigning the prospect of an official cup to the bin.

However, not everyone was prepared to give up so easily. Step forward Malta toxic and Belgium Nightraver, who have announced they will be running an unofficial hosted cup on the ClanBase pages, aimed to last from July to September. The big difference with this cup is the format: it will be played as 5v5 in light of the recent Quakecon ET annoucement. Signups for the cup open from Monday 17th July until Sunday 30th July, with the maplist yet to be decided. Admins are always needed, and those interested can sign up here. Toxic had this to say:

Belgian chocolate combines with Maltesers to produce an unbelievable tasty result, yes, that's right folks, welcome to ET Summer '06 Hosted Cup! This cup will be a cup for all, everyone is invited from the Eurocup teams to Division 7 teams, no exceptions. Start putting on those fans and air conditioning so that your room will be cool over the summer months as the heat will be unbearable!

Visit the cup site for more infos.

The Crossfire Appeal

image: xfindent3cf
Crossfire will launch the Crossfire Appeal in the coming days in a bid to raise 5,000 Euros to send a European ET team to Quakecon.
There are many logistical challenges involved in this plan, AND there is no guarantee of success, however who knows?

The Idea
On an average day, Crossfire has 10,000 Unique visitors - If every user gave 1 Euro we'd receive 10,000 euros and send two teams to Quakecon. Ok lets be realistic, that ain't gonna happen, but if every other user gave 1 Euro then maybe we'll get enough to fund a team and send it there, in addition we'll advertise this to high heavens around the web and hope to hit on internet browsing generosity.
The fund raiser will then see the users of the site select the team and Crossfire then send them to Dallas either via vote or tournament.

The Problems
Sending money - How do you send money over the internet without losing some? If you sent Crossfire 1 Euro over Paypal, Paypal would quite happily take 23 cents of that away. Thus meaning we would be required to raise 6,000 Euros!
Other options that don't take so much commission are those like MoneyBrokers.com which would be fantastic IF they did not use a verification system that required you looking at a transaction on your account for a figure. The amount of effort required to do that will deter so many people.

There will be a small print for the details of the challenge that outlines every eventuality and liabilities, we understand that and we understand the need to be professional regarding the idea.

However the first part of this plan is to request information and knowledge on how best we can run this Appeal without seeing users donations stripped by Paypals commission or by seeing users enthusiasm stripped by verification actions.

Stipulations
This thread has a 12 hour lifespan until we go ahead with Paypal.
Anyone wishing to be considered for this and any subsequent qualification tournaments should start thinking about teams and players NOW (this is not guaranteed as a method of selection but might be used).
Anyone with any reservations about why should we do this for just one major event should take note of the following, Crossfire has delayed the announcement of another major event briefly, so it will be worth your while.

Players wishing to attend should contact their nearest consulate or embassy immediatly regarding a VISA

Quakecon Announces ET

image: Quakecon_logo
Tonight Quakecon has announced its tournaments and surprise surprise, ET got itself a $30,000 tournament!

The tournament that last year saw Estonia take home a big chunk of Texas is back for another year with the return of the Nvidia championships!

However Quakecon not without its surprises has tossed in a trump card to the Competitive community. ET a game that has been 6on6 in Europe has for this tournament at least been changed to a 5vs5 tournament. Heres Quakecons Snippet of the tournament:

QuoteWolfenstein: Enemy Territory 5v5 - $30,000

A crowd favorite from many years past, get ready to gather up the best team possible to trounce the competition in round after round of Nazi-killing goodness.

[*] 1st Place $15,000
[*] 2nd Place $10,000
[*] 3rd Place $5,000

Quakewars Delayed

image: ETlogoFinal_CCThose hoping to fill their autumns with Enemy Territory:Quake Wars action are to be disappointed, as it's been revealed in the first GameSpy developer diary from Paul 'Locki' Wedgwood, the Lead Game Designer at Splash Damage, that ET:QW won't be out until at least the start of 2007.

QuoteIt's also been a challenging year, as the team here has given extraordinary effort towards completing the game this year. Unfortunately, sometimes effort isn't all you need -- sometimes you just need more time. To ensure the quality we want, we've decided to push the release out of 2006 to allow for extended testing, feedback and game balancing.

Some may be angry that they'll have to wait even longer for this hugely anticipated game but when you see that Splash Damage isn't doing the "rush the game out and patch later" approach it should be worth it in the end, as you should end up not having to download a 400MB patch a week after the final release which is so often seen with past games.

Gbooky + Enlarged latest

image: small_yellWe aspire. We dream. We wonder. And thats just at the fella that be Wales Angrykid. But theres a certain special something about a lan, be it the prospect of meeting other pc savy individuals who know their DDR from their SATA, or the chance to spend prolonged periods in cramped conditions living on a diet of nothing but pizza and cheapest beer. Put the whole operation in Germany, and you've got quite a spectacle on your hands.

So, when GAMESTV.ORG announced a few weeks back that members had the chance to win tickets to Enlarged, a German lan event, and that all participants had to do was bet some fake money on their favourite clans, many jumped at the chance. Although some games like the EuroCup finals have been noteworthy absentees from the listings, GTV's comprehensive coverage meant that the virtual euros were in full flow. But now the deadline has passed, and there could only be one winner. The top 3 standings for the entrants goes a little like this:

1. Germany evil (577e capital)
2. United Kingdom foonr (398e capital)
3. France legionaer (320e capital)

Evil has since announced he will be giving over his ticket to teammate Germany biqq, who will travel in his place. A great big have fun message goes out to him, as well as a reminder not to ruffle the feathers of the Polish WoW players too much.

Betting on GTV GBooky goes on, with today the lucky member Poland katz landing 1263euros for his bet on the PourIX - iStar game! Head over to gamestv.org for more information and developments.
