Warleagues update #1

With Warleagues starting its campaign before its main rival, ClanBase, the hype and talk surrounding the new season was all too evident to see on Crossfire and the other community sites, with much speculation given over to predictions and opinions on the various cosmetic changes that had taken place. That was before, this is now, and so without the aid of images (coming soon!), we take a guided tour around the competition to see just how events have been unfolding.

Dropouts have been a major talking point, as they always have been in WL, but fortunately the top leagues have been only slightly affected this time around - Azure Fate, the team to pull out of the running before a single bullet had been fired.

On the contrary, clans who might otherwise have been predicted mid table obscurity (like Charlton Athletic) or inactivity woes have flourished, clans like the supposed 2 week clan #stfu, who recently merged with cdap to become a strong contender for EuroCup domination. And what about SoF, who many had cast aside as inactive and past their sell-by-date. Not only have they put in some convincing performances, they have also done so without dropping a game. The divide grows ever wider between the top and the not, and common bedroom names such as Vagrants and recently EC released dfiance languishing down in the nether regions of top-flight ET.

There must be something more interesting to talk about than the positions, and thankfully there is, served up in a dollop of European controversy. During the angeldust vs. sFx Muse match, it was discovered that -shockhorror! angeldust were using a merc due to being short of player numbers... just what is thay Toxicboyo like?
The story goes that aD told sFx before the game, who then agreed to play. However pending sFx's subsquent loss, a complaint was filed by the muse team regarding the situation. aD player addict gave his thoughts on the matter:
"They knew it from the beginning i guess, but they kept playing". Well, quite.

And all this frenzy has been making the premier division look like a sleeping volcano - promising much, but never telling us when its going to wake up. Only two games have been played as of yet, with the other sFx team EVIL losing over three maps to perhaps one of the most underrated teams in ET's history, Polewka, and the European clanhoppers incorporated xtraZone overcoming a strong challenge from the lovely tank34 Ruskies. However, the division explodes in a furore of activity come May 1st, with several highly interesting games to come, including:
Quote[/i]Germany vae vs Estonia sYnc
Europe rewind vs Europe helix
Europe xZone, vs Poland ¦:P¦
Europe HighBot vs Germany BETA
Finland sFx EVIL vs Netherlands artificial

Stay tuned to Warleagues.com to hear of all the upcoming developments.

FarmerBoy2k5 By Hack4Weed

Can you imagine a farmer boy? Helping his father on the farm, doing the garden, smoking a joint after the long day on the fields...
But this is not your average farmer boy! He's ET's very own BuLL!

With a history of playing with such legendary clans as Netherlands Kodler, Malfunction and Kreaturen and representing his Netherlands country in the NationsCup you are surely in for quite a spectacle.

So without no further ado, let me introduce FarmerBoy2k5 - which was produced by Germany/Poland Hack4WeeD and features BuLLs frags versus the current cream of the crop and also the oldschool teams such as gunslingers and dignitas.

As usual the movie is available to download via SweRTCW, be sure not to miss out on what will be one of the great ET movies of all time.

King TosspoT!

Your beloved shoutcaster and ET-guru will be in charge of all things xfire.be from now on. At the same time I kind of say goodbye to you all. It's been a pleasure creating and moderating this project for the past 4 years.

I'm sure Stu will take things a few steps higher.

New ET:QW interview

Paul Wedgewood, lead designer at Splash Damage, answered Chris Remo of Shacknews some questions about ET:QW, about it's gameplay and the technology used.

Here's a small teaser:
QuoteETQW is fundamentally built with the goal of creating gameplay where teamwork makes a significant difference in whether or not you complete objectives. The game is also unique in pitting asymmetrical forces against one another; It’s no longer just a choice between two similar but differently-named machine guns: the choice of whether to play Strogg or GDF is significant, the strategies are different, and the experience is different.

Out of the pan and into the fire!

Remember Belgium mAx? He struck fame in the ET scene with Benelux Reload and his infamous fragmovies. With the addition of eurocup stints with Europe rAtatosk, prior to being swept away into idle.ee.

However to many a folk he simply vanished, became one of those players that you dont see a whole lot of, but might occasionally play a mix or be on a nations cup roster. Tonight though, we get to see what this former mp40 gunslinger has to offer in the real world of competitive gaming...

In a rather covert fashion, the idle.ee player has been hard at work training his Quake 4 skills. mAx won his regional ESWC qualifier and will be attending the benelux national finals next week with victory sending him to Paris for the ESWC grand finals. However more urgently this RTCW Opencup winner must win his Eurocup Qualifier!

Follow mAx's road from rags to riches as a Quake 4 professional dueller tonight on Inside The Game as we see whether he can emaulate the success of former RTCW greats like Sweden civ and qualify for Eurocup Quake 4.

Belgium mAx 0 - 2 Netherlands Weird

Phrantic: 19 - 14 (Double overtime)
Fleet: 20 - 13

Time: 20:00 CET
Shoutcast: iTG`TosspoT

Team Dignitas (also of ET fame!) have done a small preview about the match:

QuoteThis seems to be a case of ET player versus Q3 player in what is a BeNeLux qualifier. I would pick Weird to win this one as he has performed admirably in alot of Q4 duel tournaments, but mAx may be a suprise package as he is pretty much unknown in the Q4 scene.

Should be a cracking match, many insiders would tell you mAx is the man to watch in the coming months!

Spotted! American RTCW Community!!

Some months ago we brought you news that Jesus was alive and well and living in America. These reports have recently been confirmed as over this Easter period the American RTCW scene has been resurrected!

Jesus, also known as |a|Hollywood (Quakecon 3rd in 2003) has been working hard on reviving his beloved community after a torrid time in Enemy Teritory.
Following the announcement of his mission, Jesus has picked up a few disciples to remind him of the good old days, most notably the support of the organisation TWL.

To celebrate the resurrection, Easter was cancelled this year (didnt you notice?) and a NEW party is being setup. This party is none other than the infamous North American RTCW of Battle on the Beach, or for short BOB. Which will be returning for its third season!

Thats all well and good, but where are the players yo?
Out of nowhere Jesus and his disciples have pulled together that community and now we're starting to see familiar faces return in the North American community, such as:

United States of America Wombat - Quakecon 2002 Winner with Doctors
United States of America cl0ck - 1st place Quakecon 2003, Americup I - Quake 3
United States of America wSw - The team that "might" have won quakecon if they could play Village
United States of America united5 - 2nd place Quakecon ET 2005
United States of America Warmach1ne - CS:Source Champion w/ Check 6

RTCW at Quakecon do I hear?
At this stage every year there are the rumours of Quakecon, and the truth of the matter is nobody actually knows. However, last week RTCW returned on sale via ID's Store priced $10 plus shipping. And when more information is announced regarding this tournament, one or two people may start to dream of a Return to Castle Wolfenstein!

You can follow the whole tournament on Inside the Game

one soldier vs oceans6

RTCW returns to your screens this evening as the ownitschcupII continues!

Tonight sees one of the oldest names in RTCW, United Kingdom one.soldier take on the german hotshots of Europe oceans6.
If you havent been following the #ownitschcupII then tonight is the night to get up to speed, as many tip and many hope that one of these two teams really does have what it takes to challenge United Kingdom Scelesto. To quote one Scelesto player last match, the team have been producting some "buff tingz", and ran out 3-1 winners over Sweden KiH.

So tune in tonight so see which one of these two teams can match the "buff tingz" army of Scelesto, many of whom used to play under the one.soldier tag.

The match will be live on both WTV and the iTG VideoStream, WTV I'm sure you're all familiar with, however to watch the iTG VideoStream you need to register on GGL.COM and load the GGL TV Player when the stream has started. There are video locations in both American and Europe for your viewing pleasure, and you can double click the video screen to send it fullscreen. Commentary will be provided by United States of America iTG`djWHEAT and United Kingdom iTG`TosspoT.

Xfire Returns!

If you're reading this then you know that X to the dot B E is back!

The site has been down for over a week, and the response has been phenominal. On iRC the messages have flooded in about the downtime of xfire and how much the community has missed it. The age old saying of you dont know what you've got until its gone, is as true today as it ever was.
I hope that a lesson has been learnt from it all. Xfire may not be perfect, and many admins on other sites throughout xfires history have loved to take a cheap shot at us. But you can stuff your insults where the sun dont shine, as you cannot replace Xfire no matter how hard you may try.

However let me be perfectly clear. Xfire will not die, Xfire will not fold, Xfire has taken on every competitor since it started and will continue to do so.
What I've learnt very quickly is that you can build the perfect site, but you cannot buy a community. It is the xfire community that makes this place special, for that we thank you and look forward to getting xfire back to normal!

dFIANCE removed from Eurocup

ClanBase EC Supervisor Netherlands lunachick yesterday made the shock announcement that team Europe dFIANCE will be removed from EuroCup due to roster instability. Since April 12th dFIANCE have added a total of 17 new players to their roster, adding 6 within just two days. The German clan Oceans6 will take their place and face Singularity this Sunday in their qualifier.

This is what was posted on CB

QuoteAfter talking with dFIANCE the ET Crew has decided to replace them before their qualifier match was due to be played. This because their line-up has had too many changes over the past three days, changing 50% of it. They are a new team now, not the one we invited to qualify.

We've also found a clan to replace them to play the qualifier, it is Oceans6. They were the first follow-up in line, this because they are known as a stable clan.

It's still unclear whether dFIANCE will compete in this seasons OC.
