Smireboule Clean Up At GGL Golden Llamas

2005 was definitely the year of Smireboule

R3 ET Clan Trailer joined Gaming Royalty as the big winner at the GGL Golden Llamas earlier today. Smireboule Studios secured three major awards including Best Editing, Best Tech and Best Breakthrough - along with Best Wolfenstein.

The R3 ET Clan Trailer joins 4Kings Revolution as the most successful Wolfenstein movie at a trans-genre competition. The last time a Wolfenstein movie won big was in 2003 when Jethro Ryan “jrb” Brewin of Shaolin Productions won Best Editing, Best Presentation and Best Wolfenstein for 4Kings Revolutions.

Smireboule Studios created Smireboule CameTrace 3D v0.98 specifically for recamming in ET. Using this software they where able to create amazingly smooth and precise cams flowing through the map. This professional editing was enough to woo the judges ensuring R3 ET Clan Trailer won in four of it’s five nominated categories.

Of the seven other Wolfenstein movies nominated in six different categories not one took home a Golden Llama.

Everything set up @ Warleagues!

First of all I would like to excuse myself with all of the community about our delay. To cut long stories short, we faced 2 drop outs as in the admins, and the time to recruit new admins is reflected in the delay. However, the promise we did that we will present you with a memorable season is still on :)

An important contract has been re-signed with our main Sponsor

Xfire KOTH nearly ready

ET might be getting on somewhat, it is infact 3 years old this month. Some have proclaimed it dead, others have worked tirelessly to ensure the game is played long after the Quakers have gone to bed. Here's some things which you might not have noticed having happened while the frags have been mounting up: Greece won the European football championships, John Prescott didn't pay his council tax and bird flu has failed to seize hold of England. And, ladies and gents, there's been something else amiss in this world of ours, that is, until now.

Have you ever wondered about the lack of highskilled-only competition in ET? Sure we have the EuroCup, but that only comes round once in a while, and other cups whether indepdendant or in collaboration with Clanbase and other such organisations always have a few lower skilled teams in the mix to spoil the pro's fun. Wouldn't it be nice to have a realistic system of determining just who exactly is the best clan in ET? Sure it would, and that's why Crossfire is doing it.

Doing what? KOTH is what, which means Xfire King Of The Hill is coming to a screen near you! The format is a familiar one, but let me just clarify. The first game will be organised by the management and the winner be named as the "running leader", essentially the "king" of the hill. As a reward, the clan will be featured right on Crossfire, in a method soon to be revealed. This will generate an enormous amount of attention and publicity for the clan, as well as the "prize" of being known as the "best". A selected number of clans on a pre-made list are free to challenge for the top spot, with challenges always being accepted pending the date, and challenge games taking place once a week. The finer details, such as who gets priority, match formats and configs, etc, can all be found in a post to be made shortly.

Of course, whilst this is in the interests of the clans themselves, one of the primary goals is to involve the community as much as is possible. Each game will have ETTV, as well as match reports and clan features, which each clan having individual information pages for you to browse at will. This brings me on to the first game.

This game is being rearranged for strategic reasons. All infos you need will be posted on xfire and GamesTV - stay tuned!

However, none of this would be possible without some changes and additions to the site software. While it might not be able to be called Xfire 3, our beloved queen bee Belgium raza has been hard at work coding the new sections of the site. And, because we love you and TosspoT is safely hidden away in the land of blondes and born pros, I thought it'd be nice to share a preview with you ordinary plebs! Take a look:
Quote[/i][*] Expanded clan information box
[*] Match summary and coverage page
This is only a taster, and it is important to remember not all the honey has been collected yet. Strange bee metaphors behind, the coding is nearly all finished, and when actual content is added to the system we shall see how impressive it can really be. As mentioned, this KOTH is only opened for ET's best at current, but there are plans to expand into other skill departments depending on sucess. Read more to see the 32 clans invited to take part:

Invite ET-Cup Tonight

Monday saw all but one of the first group matches played as teams kicked off the Invite #ET-Cup. Team xtrazone seemingly the only clan not to have read the script, pulling off a surprise upset in Group D. Frostbite and sw_goldrush_te the maps as Round 1 got underway.

NxM Cup #2 - The End!

image: xfirelogo

The 2nd edition of the NxM 6o6 Cup has ended some time ago, and I still have to announce the winners for you. In the 2nd cup there were quite alot dropouts in each division, but without counting the droupouts, less forfeits. I'm proud that clans took it more serious now and I saw some great results in the Playoff matches. Unforunately, this will be the last cup these days hosted by me. I'll be inactive till the OC/EC and the WL season is over, and then I might come back with a 3rd edition. But after all, it was a great cup again to manage and there are some nice, and some suprising winners, see them below!

Division 1:
On the 2nd place ended is the Polish clan called FBI - TheSyndicate. They nicely won there 2 other playoff matches vs team-beta(4-2) and vs Polewka Team(4-2). In the final they couldn't take any map against the strong Finnish team mYstic-Gaming - SKIT-EVIL, who won there 2 playoff matches vs team-foundation(4-2) and Fear Factory(4-0). In the final mYs won vs FBI with 4-0 and showed a nice performance for ETTV. The 3rd place went to Polewka team who lost vs FBI and came in the 3rd/4th place match to play vs FF, Polewka won with 3-1. In the last cup we had 2 Dutch teams in the top-3, now we are proud with the Polish teams! Btw, it would be good if CB gives both Final clans a try in the EC as a qualifier team, because they gave a great performance in this cup.

1. Finland mYstic-Gaming aka SKIT-EVIL
2. Poland FBI aka TheSyndicate
3. Poland Polewka Team

Division 2:
In this 2nd division, ultima Ratio overwalked almost each opponent, only vs v3 in the Group match they won with 4-2, the other matches are all won without a single map loose. In the Playoffs, uR won the first match with a forfeit vs emerge and won the Half-Final match vs the Estonian team faith. In the final they faced Disposable (Orange) who won the first playoff match vs eC4 forfeit and suprisingly won the Half-Final match vs the new aD team with 4-2, in the Final they couldn't resist uR and lost 0-4. The match for the 3rd place was won by aD, who easily have beaten faith.

1. Austria ultima Ratio
2. Sweden Disposable Orange
3. Europe angelDust

Division 3:
In this division, we had suprisingly 3 Finnish clans in the Half-Final, so it could be a finnish top-3, but Prodigy, the Benelux team hold CTN off from winning and ended as third. In the final we had 2 finnish clans, the losing team was TheSyndate who won there first 2 playoff matches vs Earthclan(4-0) and Prodigy(4-0), but couldn't stand Glow-Gaming in the Final, Glow won before vs SurV(4-0) and CTN(4-2) and overpowered sYn in the final with 4-0. The match for the 3rd place was won by Prodigy as I already said above, so there wasn't a total Finnish top-3, they win with 4-2 vs CTN.

1. Finland Glow-Gaming
2. Finland TheSyndicate
3. Benelux Prodigy

Division 4:
Last but not least, we also have the 4th division with as winner the European clan Heartbreakers, who won suprisingly vs the Polish Slayers Team (aka Whiners Team) with 4-2. HB first won 4-0 vs log from Poland and after that 4-0 vs the Spain FH in the Half-Final and won the final vs sT. sT won every match before without a single map loose, but they were not good enough to win vs Heartbreakers, sT won first vs tUs(4-0) and in the Half-Final vs BFU. For the 3rd place, BFU and FH faced eachother and the outcome says that BFU won with 4-0 vs FH and is the proud 3rd of this group.

1. Europe Heartbreakers
2. Poland Slayers Team
3. Czech Republic Bloody F* Users

I want to thank on the first place all clans participating in the cup after a thin first cup, and also the people from GTV who broadcasted the Final on ETTV and lunachick who shoutcasted the final. I also like to thank bullvox for doing nothing except helping with the groups and sending ppl to me with questions :P. Thanks to everyone supporting the cup in a good way and hopefully, see you in a next cup!

Resurrection of the elitists

image: elite

Croatia is a small country with a big heritage. Did you know that Saint Jerome and Joseph Haydn were both Croats? Did you know the country boasts many Roman ruins? That for centuries Croatia successfully warred against Venice for control of the eastern Adriatic? No? Oh, okay.

One of ET’s oldest and respected clans recently underwent a resurrectoion under the supervision of clan leader Croatia FroZzeN. The ET section of this 5 year old multi-gaming clan was formed in May of 2004, reaching the lofty heights of 1st in the Croatian ladder and a respectable 3rd place finish in Division 2 Summercup. Since then they’ve been on a hiatus playing in various mix clans.

I asked frozz what he hoped to achieve in elite
Quoteelite is a successful Croatian multi-gaming clans since 2001, and this is fourth generation of elite in Enemy Territory. We’ve been actively recruiting and refining this line-up for a long time now and feel we’ve finally got the perfect blend. I hope we will give good fights in our upcoming matches and are preparing ourselves for the new ClanBase season and various 1-day-tournaments. We will be working hard in the hope that we will get an EC qualifier spot.

Their line-up is:

Croatia e^frozz
Croatia e^oblivion
Austria e^sick
Austria e^day
Finland e^Matias
Netherlands e^jackie

They’ve been active for over a month and are finally happy with their starting 6. Can this Croatian outfit impress the ClanBase admins enough in such a short space of time?

Invite #ET-Cup Kicks Off Tonight

It’s finally here! Just weeks before the impending Eurocup with the ClanBase admins taking a massive interest we bring you extended coverage of all the teams and all the action. Tonight kicks off the group stages with teams desperate to gain the momentum from a good start. Just yesterday it was announced that EC signups had been delayed a week - as has this cup to accommodate all the teams.

The clash of the night crops up in Group B as Estonia Galahad looks to strike it rich once again with his latest all Estonian outfit. Fresh off a humiliating defeat to Germany Germany last night. They'll face a resilient Finland negative image team, one of the few names to make it through the EC blues. This clash kicks off at 20:00 CET with ETTV confirmed.

Group: Group B
Date: Monday 10th April
Time: 20:00 CET
ETTV: GamesTV.org
Shoutcast: Monster (Estonian lanuage)

The second match to be broadcast live on ETTV will be Europe’s newest rivals. Belgium xtrazone and Germany one4one have gone toe to toe in near every competition going. With one4one narrowly coming out on top. Can xtrazone reclaim lost pride tonight - decider anyone?

Group: Group D
Date: Monday 10th April
Time: 20:00 CET
ETTV: GamesTV.org

Don’t forget the maps for tonight are the much raved about Frostbite and the old favourite sw_goldrush_te.

Lest we forget, there’s another 5 matches being played tonight sadly without ETTV. But fear not - demos for every clash will be provided on the ET-Cup page.

An updated schedule can be found here

Modus Operandi bear all

image: modus It's been quite a ride these last 12 months for Australian ET outfit Australia Modus Operandi, who have emerged from relative obscurity in the eyes of the yanks and euros, to become one of the most well known of bedroom names. From conquering Oz, to releasing their movies Mo Vindication and truc1dio, and competing at Quakecon 2005, their schedule really has been a rollercoaster from start to finish.

Recently, Idle.ee poster and fellow Aussie Australia chin0o sought to discover more about the Australian side, and caught up with Modus's team leader Andrew 'Dman' Townsend to discuss life down under. Here's a little snippet:

How was the 2005 Quakecon for you and your team? What aspects of it did you find difficult, and if you could go back would you do anything different?
QuoteQuakecon was a fantastic experience that none of the guys regret. Meeting up, boot camping with x6, playing at the event.. It was an amazing time. The most difficult aspect for the team was the transition to LAN, as we had never played together in real life before out x6 boot camp in Texas. If I could turn back the clock, more practice before the event would have been helpful, however is just wasnt possible at the time.

NationsCup IX Semi Final 2 - Estonia vs Germany

image: cbgoldlogontWith the ClanBase Enemy Territory NationsCup IX approaching it's finale we prepare for a battle of the titans as two of the remaining three teams clash in the second semi-final. The first semifinal game, played out on Thursday, saw a much fancied Finland Finland team - traditionally one of the strongest nations in Enemy Territory - fall to the forces of the Netherlands Netherlands in something many saw as a shock result. Now Estonia Estonia and Germany Germany must step up to the plate to determine who will be opposing the Dutch in the battle for NationsCup gold.

ClanBase ET Nationscup IX

THE TEAMS

Estonia have, over the past year, grown increasingly dominant in Enemy Territory in Europe and worldwide, taking gold in NationsCup VIII while Estonian teams have claimed gold in Eurocup XI, silver in Eurocup XII and both gold and bronze in the QuakeCon 2005 Enemy Territory tournament. The Estonian scene is notable for three things - a remarkable community spirit, a far higher than average quota of skilled players and the rising multigaming clan that is idle.ee.

Germany's form of late has been somewhat patchier - although knocked out of the last NationsCup in the quarter finals by the Estonian team, they were the only team to take a round victory over the all conquering Eesti team. The Germans do, however, have something of a NationsCup 'curse' hanging over the team - the only nation to have reached the playoffs in every Enemy Territory NationsCup so far but not obtain one of the covetted medals.

GERMANY

[img|left]http://dl.vpclan.de/images/de_flag_for_fag.gif[/img]The Team Germany captain, Benjamin 'biqq' Ramser, is expecting a tough game. "They're the team which kicked us out of the tournament last season, and besides that they overpowered good teams like belgium," he reminds me, "they'll be a challenging opponent". When asked if his team is up to the task, biqq is uncertain, "rumours say that they don't practise that much but we may practise even less, so I can't really say".

The task Germany face is certainly a daunting one - they avoided defeat in the quarter finals against what many thought a relatively weak UK side by the narrowest of margins to reach this game, although prior to that they hadn't dropped a round in the competition. Germany plans on running the same lineup against Estonia they used against the UK, and the talent is undoubtedly there - the question is if they can get the teamplay working with, as biqq freely admits, very limited preparation.

ESTONIA
image: es_flag_for_fag
In the Estonian camp, Hannes 'galahad' Kranich (a member of the national squad, as well as being the 'CEO' of idle.ee) is more optimistic. While not sounding overconfident, galahad says, "I believe that if we manage to play our own game then we have a good chance of advancing", despite the fact that he cannot recall the last time the team practiced.

Certainly with the roster available to the Estonian team - effectively a rollcall of idle.ee players past and present, with only a couple of players who have never been in the team - is extremely impressive, and if they can field the best six on the night they could be nigh unstopable.

OVERVIEW

The game is due to kick off at 21:00 CET tonight (Sunday, 9th April). Over 1000 slots of ETTV have been confirmed by gamestv.org, and shoutcasts will be available in English (from FlyingDJ of gamestv.org) and Estonian (from #raadio, tbc). And iTG`TosspoT Server2

THE FINAL

The winner of this game is due to face the Netherlands in a grand final scheduled to occur in a fortnight. While Germany believes that game to be the easier of the two, biqq stating, "I think [if] we manage to win [vs the strong Estonia team] we also stand a good chance [against the Netherlands]". galahad is more reserved, "The dutch team has a lot of talented players and they seem to have found quite the teamplay," he says, "both Estonia and the Netherlands are very skilled teams and any given match could go either way."
