Recap of the last week
After losing versus a lesser team on a French LAN (in a 5on5 tournament with very bad rules) GROF.etqw decided to fold, but they will finish the Clanbase Opencup to honour the GROF organization. GROF.etqw is qualified to the CB playoffs after taking a 2nd place in group C division 1, after losing to delta and winning versus stfo. Shortly after GROF.etqw decided to fold hentai teamed up with Point Blank.
Another big team also folded in the past week, the Spanish powerhouse redCode decided to move to Cod4 and have quit all leagues and cups, except for their star player marte who has teamed up with H2k.etqw.
In super happy fun fun news Point Blank was just announced as 4k.etqw and I wish nkm and his army of mainly drunk people the best of luck!
ESL Major Series is about to start now and the first play week is next week already, predictions for the first round are on a separate page. Clanbase OC is also about to heat up as groupstage in all divisions is finished and the playoff stage is about to kick off. The playoff tree is expected to be published one of the next days, so an update on the OC playoffs and predictions will be in the next Takes take.
Justice for all
Last week I wrote: "CDC 4 will be more than a competition, in my eyes it will pretty much make or break ETQW." and I just want to repeat this. The ETQW competition on CDC 4 has an expected size of 8 signups, which would result in a 2000 euro prize purse and thats less than any other tournament. To be honest I think we can do a lot better and I will be very disappointed if ETQW doesnt manage 12-16 clans. And to underline this: 8 teams isnt the limit, if for example 14 teams sign up to the tournament, slots and prize purse will be increased to match it.
The missing link
Coverage seems to be the missing link for ETQW at the moment, with no shoutcasts / videocasts, ETQW-tv not yet released, few active news writers and few demos available. And I doubt ETQW will get better coverage for a while as quadv is going away in December and the rest of the community is waiting for ETQW-tv and not really interested in investing time in other medias. And its really a shame as so many great matches wont get the attention they deserves.
