PB: Whats the point?

After reading a few forum posts and journals lately its clear that cheating is still seen as a problem for a lot of the ET community, but is there really anything we can do about it?

Lets be realistic after all, cheating isn't hard to do in any game - you just have to be able to google for an installer for your game and you're pretty much set, but why was it famously bad in CSS? Why is it a big problem in ET? - It's easy and risk free!

Mi$$ed oppourtunity?

This is not the cry of an aging women who has just been replaced by a young blonde, but more the observation that the game which hasn’t moved from its position in the top five FPS games in four years could have been a big money earner for ID Software and SplashDamage.

Clanbase 3v3 Benelux?

I think everybody knows the ladders on Clanbase. They provide us with European 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 and 6v6 ladders. Next to these European ladders, they have a 3v3 and 6v6 ladder for Polish clans, a 6v6 ladder for English clans and a 3v3 ladder for clans from the Benelux.

Moviemaking and its bright future?

Well i spent another night in front of my computer, messing around with the great ET:QW engine. After having a great, and very useful discussion in vent tonight I decided to start to fully concentrate on ET:QW.

Quakecon Day 2 is complete

Quakecon day 2 is now over and after quite a lot of action in the Quakewars tournament we’ve seen and learnt a great deal about the teams and the players. Most of this came from the 20ID versus Dignitas winner bracket semi match where the number two and three seeds collided but more importantly two different approaches to the game can to head.

Quakecon Opening Thoughts

Day 1 is done and dusted and prior to some much needed sleep for yours truly its time to reflect on the opening day of the biggest competitive event in the Crossfire calendar.

QW Quakecon preview

As Quakecon approaches previewing its tournament is poised to be the hardest preview I've ever done. How do you preview a tournament for a game that isnt released yet and features just one European team against a community who personify the meaning of 'diamond in the rough'.

That time of the year again!

Quakecon returns to the big stage once again and in Dallas this weekend the temperature will reach new highs as Quakewars debuts alongside Quake. Last year it was the team game that gave the 'con its memories and it’s now time for ET's bigger brother to follow in its footsteps!

Cheaters running the show.

Every week brings more and more busts and bans for cheaters who hacked on a public server. They're all being banned even if no one has ever heard of them. With ET being a free game it's very hard to trace the identity of ET players. Anyone with a good sense of technology can easily get their hands on a dynamic IP, which is very hard to trace for the Cheatbusters our scene knows today.

TeK-9 OOF Preview

TeK-9 head to their own event as favourites for the tournament, but will have to be on their guard with many of Europes finest in attendance. The rollercoaster of form that both the side and European Call of Duty goes through on a regular basis offer a stern warning for any team gunning for glory in Antwerp this weekend.
