image: cgs_logo_2The Championship Gaming series UK & European combine is underway at Omega Sektor in Birmingham. The tournament has drawn the worlds best in CS:Source, DOA, FIFA & Forza however for Crossfire our eyes are glued to both the CoD4 tournament and Crossfire favourite Sweden feruS who is hottly tipped to get drafted into either of the CS:Source teams!

The tournaments are just about to start and the seeds have trickled out though they're a little sketchy at the moment. We have confirmation that Fnatic are seeded 1st & Dignitas are seeded second, with Spain Wizzards (aka blacksouls) third and then L3 in fourth. There are 15 teams in total, with another notable name being Reason Gaming. There is unfortunately no streaming of the tournament.

feruS watch has begun with the Swede giving his best interview yet which will be uploaded to TheCGS.com this weekend which will fuel the fire that is the tug of war between the Berlin Allianz and Stockholm Magnetik both of whom will want to pick up the player who has just turned 18 and thus old enough to play in the CGS. The prize is a full contract for him to the team and he will compete both locally and live on DirecTV in LA later this summer.

We'll be keeping you updated with the results as soon as they become available, though the tournament isnt due to start for a little while.

FeruS has played and won his first game with the Stockholm Magnetik though it is expected he may be picked up by Berlin for a challenge match also.

Acer Challenge Update

image: acer_plain
The Acer Challenge is rapidly approaching and we've made some changes to the tournament to aid some of the teams attending. Many people who were interested in coming said that they were struggling with the date due to it clashing with exams and with that being the case and a few less teams than expected we've made some big changes.

The tournament will now run all on Saturday June 7th only, with the oppourtunity of a Free bootcamp on Friday for those that want to. On the Friday there will also be a 1 off cash exhibition match with the teams and reason all to be announced.

Because we got less teams than we wanted we've changed the prizepurse to 3000 Euro, with 1500 to first, 1000 to second, 500 to third. If signups rapidly change based off the new dates then that prizepurse will increase, but it will not go lower than 3000.

Today's Eurocup!

Indeed, the title says it all as tonight brings another two big matches to your screen. It is time to round up the first groupmatches round and these four teams still have their parts to play.

Yesterday evening saw, to some surprisingly, Netherlands ephix take a round versus the Finnish side of Finland vae but eventually bowing out with a 4-2 win for the Finns. Then there were ze yermans of Germany MegaProGaming who did what they had to and took a relatively easy win against the Belgium 8Bits team. Very interesting was the game between Croatia cortana and Poland Fear Factory X-Fi as the Poles definitely put their shoulders in to it and showed everyone that they are here to stay. Even though still very early in the groupstage, it seems FF are likely to be pushing through to the playoffs if they keep up their game.

But that was all yesterday and as said, there are three games left to be played for the first round two of which are due tonight!

X-RaY anticheat now with ET support

image: logo X-RaY anti cheat has today announced its support for ET and have recently added it to its game list. The software which is used in many other games has the backing of the UK's largest league, Enemy Down and has a very active development team.

The software is clientside and requires users to create an account and download the x-ray software. The software then forces screenshot uploads and scans your computer for cheat processes. On top of this the software has a very active support system in which the ET community is welcome and encouraged to participate in aiding them detect new cheats that have been released.

Crossfire is very happy to be supporting X-RaY and thanks their development team for a prompt response to our request for support in light of Punkbusters recent exposures. As such we will be launching prized ET and CoD4 tournaments using this software in the coming month.

FG with a phat lineup!

Fatgames have rung the changes in their ET squad after successfully qualifying for the Eurocup season. The side have gone out and picked up two of the old TLR/aMenti CDC winning side in a huge transfer that puts them right in the thick of things for upcoming prizes.

Their new roster is;

Ireland sol
Poland kot
Estonia Holz
Poland s4rna
Belgium mAus
Croatia aCozZ

Urtier and buzka will remain backups for the side, whilst Holz will continue to rifle until he changes his PC. Kot had the following to say about the team;

QuoteWe've gone out and got two fantastic players that state our ambitions as a team. They've won CDC and that has always been my life long ambition, not just for myself, but also in honour of the great and prosperous nation of Poland. We're expecting to perform well in the upcoming spring seasons and then move on from there.

Dignitas with new ET team

Its been a while since the community heard anything from Dignitas however thats not to say that they've not been plotting their long awaited return to ET! This their third squad has something of a familiar feel to it and will send out shockwaves in the community!

Dignitas' new lineup;

Denmark Darkie
Sweden FeruS
Sweden civ
Sweden Spear
Sweden zAm
Sweden tba

This latest squad from Dignitas has all the potential needed to become top dogs the question is whether they will be putting in the hours to achieve that!

Quote by DarkieIts great to be back in Dignitas and back playing again. We've all missed not being active as a team, and we're trying to get back into the groove once again. I'd imagine it'll take a while to get good again, but these former powerhouses are more than capable of being at the top come CDC5!
