Upset? Dignitas and TLR are!

The Clanbase Eurocup has progressed along in this season, somewhat bouncing off the coverage radar however tonight cannot go unnoticed as number 1 and 2 seeds both capilulated to high seeded opponents. It was the last night of the group stages and was to be played on bremen_b1, karsiah_te2.

CPC Champions Europe TLR were unable to continue their sintilating form as Europe Polar eSports claimed vengeance for their loss at CPC with a big win on the two new maps. Polar were well prepared for the maps and wanted to use this against TLR. Both maps were fairly open, but resolute defending saw TLR unable to overcome the side they met in the knockout stages of CPC.

Europe TLR 0 - 4 Europe Polar eSports

Unbeaten in 14 months, but now as unbeaten as Chelsea's title challenge, Europe Dignitas fell apart on Bremen and then on the decider radar to see Finland Insignia Cadre pick up a famous win over Dignitas. A dignitas side that still havent resolved their roster crisis were without reload this time around, and also without preparation. A capital crime against a Cadre side who were out to prove a point, and that they did. All in all it was a very exciting game, which maybe could have gone either way

Europe Dignitas 2 - 4 Finland Cadre

These two results see Dignitas and TLR sitting second in their group and thus creating some must win fixtures in the first round of the elimination stages. Be sure that tonights losers will be back with a bang!

Intel Core 2 Extreme Challenge continues

Now that the group stage for the Intel Core 2 Extreme Challenge CoD2 tournament has been completed United Kingdom Kytey, one of the Enemydown admins, has put pen to paper and written a review of what actually went on over in the ED camp.

A snippet can be found below:

QuoteOne of the tournaments early favourites, uMu appeared in group 7 along with ED ladder leaders, Twsquad. There was no doubt that uMu would qualify through the group round, but they capped off the performance with several emphatic wins

Call of Duty 4 Trailer released

This past Saturday the trailer for the latest instalment of Call of Duty was released. Named Modern Warfare, there is very little news about this title for available for public consumption. The trailer suggests no release date, just that the game is situated in a global combat between warring national factions in a variety of scenery.

The title WILL be on the PC, as published by Activision some time ago. The PC titles are being developed by Infinity Wards who are actually owned by Activision according to word on the street.

Changes afoot in Scandinavia

Sweden oxid and Finland Logitech have rung the changes ahead of the summer schedule. Both sides were present at the CPC and whilst oxid finished in the lower tiered places (9th-12th), Logitech placed 2nd after a thrilling final.

Logitech have replaced Finland wiNkz with former Check6 & Copenhagen player Finland Sacrim - Both Sacrim and Plaekki who have played together for a considerable amount of time, decided to leave copenhagen esports. Sacrim sourced the reason behind leaving copenhagen as being his desire to speak in his native language once again.

Team oxid who had a disapointing CPC have again run the changes with Flow and zEm deciding to part ways from the organisation. Zem, like Sacrim above has had a torrid time finding success since the collapse of the Eurocup winning Check6 side and was the last of that side to leave what was once the organisation. Oxid have been quick to get back in the game announcing their new lineup, built mainly from the former fukyuu team.

Their new lineup is as follows:

Sweden Wnkr
Sweden Zsilts
Sweden Stoffey
Sweden Karpz
Sweden Fleck

One soldier face Verdiend in the RTCW final, after the shock defeat of KiH the competition has been thrown wide open and could go either way...

image: onesoldierLimage: wL3image: wR1image: verdiendR

Update: one.soldier are crowned RTCW Crossfire PrizeFight Challenge Champions

Impact gaming face Dignitas in the second winners bracket semi final, which should be an interesting match with neither team been living up to their potential but leaves us with some questions such as, is a mix of big name players enough to topple the dominating force in ET for the last year? Will Dignitas regain their form in the important stages of the tournament?

Both teams should have a lot more to give based on previous experience ...or is it time for a new star in the Enemy Territory universe?

Match #1
image: dignitasLimage: cL1image: cR0image: adocomR
Map: TBA

After United Kingdom dignitas struggled in their first match against Finland logitech yesterday, they need a two wins now to continue to the playoffs, otherwise this group will be the closest. Germany Adocom, known as the former dSlash team has to prove the worth of their recived LAN support by attending the CPC instead of the Summit in Germany. With the draw against Finland Logitech their door is still wide open to get a spot into the playoffs but did this mean they are strong enough to face United Kingdom dignitas?

Match #2
image: editLimage: cL0image: cR1image: esubaR
Map: TBA

A first deciding match for Czech Republic eSuba. After beating the SHGopen Champs Netherlands serious gaming yesterday on the new map valente, they don't have a save way into the playoffs even if they deserved it. This match can be their first step on the top of the group and to make a save jump in the first round of the upcoming single elimination bracket. Czech Republic eSuba is worth playing it and has a lot of potential as they showed on diffrent events and EuroCups already. Netherlands EDiT is a new face finished top 3 at the NetGamez. They have nearly lost all their chances to reach the playoffs loosing against Sweden oxid and Netherlands serious yesterday, rank 3 or 4 for them?

Where are the ET Matches?
The schedule for ET matches are delayed due to the RTCW tourney at the moment. The delay is about 2 hours now. For recent schedules check the GamesTV.org Times within your timezone.

Match #3
image: esubaLimage: cL1image: cR0image: oxidR
Map: TBA

Czech Republic eSuba needs the win to make their way into the playoffs save. After the czech team won against United Kingdom Dignitas on vallente yesterday, these two teams will decide who will progress. While Netherlands EDiT is without chances but still playing as well, currently against eSuba ofcourse, it's all on the swedes from Sweden oxid. After a loss against Netherlands serious but aswell a clear win against Netherlands EDiT, it can be close - may the allmighty CoD2 god tell us what will happen - (hopefully) together with the livestreams powered by iTG and QuadV.

image: zerobarrierLimage: eL2image: eR2image: onesoldierR
Maps: Bremen, Frostbite
Shoutcast: AVI - tune in Radio iTG / QuadV

A deciding game - atleast for zeroPoint who are not playing in here but who will hope to see zerobarrier win against one.soldier to get the last small chance to join the playoffs. The realy great gameplay in their last matches made zerobarrier one of the top in this tourney for now while one.soldier as second favorite next to zP! needs the win or a draw to save their second place. Who's going to pass in the playoffs in group c?

image: impactLimage: eL2image: eR4image: polarR
Maps: Supply, Radar, Frostbite (Decider)
ETTV: GamesTV

While both teams have already qualified for the playoffs, they will fight each other for the top spot. Impact played a tight game against Auxilia coming out as winner and are now preparing to face off with polar - the 3rd of the PGS. Who will continue his winning spree? Make sure you tune in.

i30 well underway!

Crossfire is on the scene in Newbury for the i30 tournament as Dignitas look to retain their crown. What should be a routine route for both Dignitas and Reason to the grand finals has had a few ups and downs along the way.

Dignitas had a shakey first half against infused, having drawn the half on trainstation the side needed to dig deep to overcome their compatriots.

Crossfire's very own Scarface had this to say:

Quote by scarfaceThe event murmours suggest that Reason will win the i30 tournament and I happen to agree with them, I think they're on hot form and could do well. Dignitas however cant be underestimated, they often leave the best until last not wanting to show all their cards until they have to, espcially with CPC next week

Reason are steaming through the bracket and do look on the hot form that people have mentioned. They took down SnD in convincing fashion 13-5 and now face frantiC in the semi final to set up the dream final against Dignitas. Dignitas must face eSource with the prospect of Reason in the final. The semi's are just about to get underway with the final scheduled for 14:00 GMT on Sunday.
