Abnormal Monkeys!

image: monkey
This evening the moons aligned to see the return of Finnish prowesss to the ET scene! Powered by over half of the Parodia lineup, these Finnish monkeys come with a reputation that packs a punch to be reckoned with.
Their Lineup is:

Finland Torspo (ex demiurge)
Finland Jauhis (ex Parodia)
Finland sAintt (ex Parodia)
Finland Xpaz (ex Parodia)
Finland Tiigeri (ex demiurge)

Tiigeri had this to say about the teams prospects and aspirations:
QuoteIt's nice to play with full finnish lineup for a change, the distances are bit shorter so we can go and cuddle with each other without buying a plane ticket. Also what comes by playing with Xpaz and saintt, is excitement, I'm very exited to play with them, they seem to be nice guys like jauhis, so it's fun to play with them. Ofcourse playing with some ex-parodia guys is also very nice. My personal main goal is to keep saintt off from the world of warcraft as much as possible!

Tiigeri went on to state that Eurocup was the teams primary goal, and that lans were not currently on the agenda, but that time would tell.

digitalMind win Netgamez 2006

In what can only be described as a david vs goliath final, caermonia have pulled off a string of phenominal results to get to the grand final and require just one more feat of brilliance to secure the biggest prize in the benelux scene. In their path lie second seeded digitalMind, who until a 14-12 scare with suXus looked destined for the title. Burgundy kicked off the final, and dM were straight under attack from a caermonia side who had beaten both n!faculty and suXus to into the final, after initially being seeded fifh they had nothing to lose. However, it was the experience that paid off that saw caer take second and dM first! Hit read more for the full report of the final.

1st - Netherlands digitalMind
2nd - Netherlands caermonia
3rd - Netherlands suXus

caermonia continue to upset!

Caermonia have come to netgamez and care not about their oppositions reputation and have quickly powered past two Eurocup opponents on their way to the Netgamez losers bracket final.

After initially defeating first seeds Netherlands H2k gaming, they've moved on to take down Germany n!faculty both by 11-7. Its been all one way traffic as this dutch team continue to cause upsets.

They go on to face the loser of the winners bracket final, between digitalMind and underdogs, suXus who also defeated an H2k side that look devoid of confidence in their selfbelief and teamplay. After being 7-3 up on the half way point, h2k couldnt pick up the needed rounds to finish the job.

The final three places are now up for grabs with digitalMind being the clear favourites, but with suXus having taken down H2k and the many matches and results under their belt, caermonia may be dug in for the long haul.

Other news from Netgamez, see's battle between digitalMind and H2k reignited this time in CounterStrike as the two of them do battle in the 4000 euro grand final. The H2k squad, hailing from estonia have their claim to fame from their time in idle.ee. And to name as many ET squads as possible, Dignitas have won the FIFA tournament.

Update

Caermonia have continued to cause upsets after taking down suXus in the Losers Bracket final, and in some style. A strong 11-6 victory over their compatriots see's them now with a shot at unbeaten digitalMind. dM on the other hand were taken to overtime in the winners bracket final against suXus. They had to use a 14-12 scoreline to get them into the grand final, and now any certanties have been thrown out the window and unpredictability reigns over the Netgamez CoD tournament.

H2K bow out of Netgamez

Earlier this morning, suXus have pulled off the biggest upset of Netgamez 2006 with a shocking 11-7 victory over tournament favourites H2K.

In what can only be described as a shocking result, it was trainstation that was to be H2K's undoing. H2K were under the cosh from the word go, as plucky suXus showed they're not to be messed with.

H2K had already dispatched with possible favourites for third place, Germany n!faculty (11-8), and with what seemed a formality on route to a dM vs H2k final, the all dutch lineup were shot down.

Solz of H2k said:
QuoteThey played better together than we did, we had too many 5 on 3 situations that we managed to lose and they turned around. Kasparov and pr3z played well. I'm not happy if i'm not in the grand final, so I'll do everything to get there, but now its a long hard road. We now face caerimonia, if we win we play possibly n!faculty, after that possibly suxus again, so the day just got alot longer!

Update -

The number 1 seeds have bowed out completely with a carentan defeat to caer in again surprising circumstances. Once more it was 11-7, and once more the side cannot believe what has happened to them.

Crossfire is Recruiting!

No, we're not on the look out for a new squad or anything of the sort, infact we're on the look out for more staff here at Crossfire.
In the past couple months, Crossfire has seen a phenominal traffic growth and with it some couple thousand new members. With that in mind we're in a position of needing to grow as an administration aswell as wanting to simply maintain the site a little bit better!

Over moderation can kill a site, and we're certainly not going to do such a thing, however there is a fine line between "good spam and bad spam", to bring us a little closer to that line we're looking for some more admins to help us clean up a touch. We're particularly going to clean up the forums, we want to give them more purpose and functionality, which the new version of the site will aid us somewhat, on the whole the journals will left as they are.

Additionally we're looking for one or two more coders for the specific purpose of creating a competition module for Crossfire, to supplement the upcoming Crossfire LANs in 2007, aswell as more general use. A more specific task can be obtained on request, however the plan is to create a spawnable competition section, similar to the "hosted cup" feature on Clanbase. This feature is a very important part of what we aim to achieve in 2007.

If you are interested in working here at Crossfire (on a volunteer basis of course), then please contact myself either in #Crossfire or via message here on Crossfire. We'll then add you to a list of applicants, and evaluate them once we've got everyone.

GotFrag Features the up and coming!

GotFrag and Crow have put together another great read on the current state of the Call of Duty community, this time analysing the up and coming talent within the competitive ranks.

Featuring Interviews with United Kingdom Raz of Dignitas and Germany L-King of Speedlink, Crow analyses where the game has come from, and where its going with this new breed of up and coming superstars.

QuoteJust take a look at any form of player rankings and a few are bound to pop up, Raz, Knaller, L-KinG, Breazy, the list goes on. These players are only aged 15 or 16 but have skill, dedication and a burning desire to succeed. Many were denied the chance to do so in vCoD but in the new arena that is CoD2 they are thriving.

BF2142 Demo Released

image: 46463-Battlefield-2142
Whilst not in the spirit of the games covered here on Crossfire, its still worth peoples attention! Today EA have released the latest installment in the Battlefield series and with us loving all things free here on Crossfire, that it is!

Featuring the usual 64 player combat and massive team interaction, the Battlefield series has proven to be a massive hit over the years. Mimic'ing some of the RTCW & Fortress teamplay dynamics it has always featured fantastic visual's and this is no exception. However, lack of stability has always been levelled at the series and with errors and failed patches, the hardcore BattleField'r has often been left with a sour taste in their mouth. Will this be the same? Try it for yourself:

All eyes on the TmGL

Tonight see's Dignitas back in action again, facing the formiddible foe of 3rd place Eurocup'ing TeK-9. Yes its 2nd vs 3rd at the Eurocup finals and this is going to be special.

TeK-9 is about as old a name as it comes in CoD history, the belgians have long fought valiantly against all comers and have recently called on some reinforcements to give the side a more "check6" feel. Offering them the firepower of one of the few teams to have ever beaten Dignitas certainly makes them a threat to the Brits.

QuoteThe game against Tek-9 looks set to be a cracker, one in which i think tosspott should drop going to sainsburys for. The tek9 team on paper looks fantastic but whether they can perform together as a team remains to be seen, matmata is one of our strong maps though we havent been playing to good on it of late. Overall i am confident we will win but it aint going to be easy!

Said United Kingdom Mick, Leader of Dignitas and CoD1 MVP.
