Crow does Wonderbase

image: casso_wbpreview_597x110
Liam 'Crow' Crowley of Serious Gaming, Gotfrag and Crossfire has previewed this weekends Wonderbase tournament for CrowFrag. In his usual style this Eurocup champion has assesed both his own and others chances of success in fantastic detail.

QuoteAlthough lacking in numbers, WonderBase features the largest prize purse so far in Call of Duty 2 (6,000 Euro) and has a team list overflowing with talent. Organised in cooperation with Swedish community site callofduty.se, the CoD2 event will be run alongside others for games such as Counter Strike, Quake 4 and Warcraft 3 an it will be interesting to see if CoD2 can once again grab the headlines like at the EuroCup finals in Denmark. The CoD2 tournament features a group stages followed by double elimination playoffs and due to unforeseen computer problems is likely to continue late into both Friday and Saturday night.

Its all an ILlusion

ILlusion have entered the competitive ET fray, no not the second place Unterelite side from 2004, but an all new lineup with some familiar faces! Fresh from his aMenti adventures XyLoS is back, and is joined by some Eurocup faces. However with one of them being banned, the side is already suffering roster problems!

The Lineup:

Italy XyLos
Germany Pumu
Belgium zeto
France tsu
United Kingdom razz

The side has been produced for 5on5 tournaments, which currently only Clanbase are runnning and with that in mind Razz is still banned from Clanbase until January 1st 2007. So, lets assume Eurocup starts before 2007, how will this roster perform with just 4 players? And what is the communities reaction to a banned cheater returning to the scene. I have no doubt this is not the last we've heard from what pumu described as "the regular clanhoppers"

Europe aMenti 4-2 Sweden noll8
Europe zP 4-0 Europe idle
Europe CDAP.PI > Belgium Finest
Europe aMenti 0-4 Europe CDAP.PI
Europe idle 0-4 Europe CDAP.PI

“When I grow up I want to beat Idle”, Said young Timmy O’Toole before he fell down the well. It was a crying shame that he fell down that well, but tonight we’ll see whether we have a challenger or two that may just be able to live out his dream!

Tonight at 20:30 CET Idle face the first of the potential suitors to their throne that they’ve sat on for oh so long. It will come in the winners bracket of the Crossfire PGA Qualifiers and it will see the real test of this winter season. The Qualifying process has seen 11 teams all put their money where their mouth is and bid for glory, and must be taken as a serious evaluation as to where competitive ET stands at the moment. And with that said, both zP and aMenti are using this as an opportunity to test their skill against idle.

PGA Qualifiers, The Bracket & Fixtures

The time is nigh, with just 1 month until Poland is invaded by gamers coming to win big bucks, we must find our two European based ET Teams to compete for 2,500 euros at the Poznan Gaming Arena!

After having 11 sign ups, we went around asking for opinions from all corners of ET for seedings, as many teams and rosters are in a state of transition at the moment, and we have seeded the teams and put them into a bracket. All matches will be played using the Crossfire 5on5 Config.

Teams can chose their own maps (from Radar, sw_Goldrush, Frostbite, SupplyDepot2 & Adlernest), with the decider (if needed) being selected by elimination. However, teams cannot chose the same map two matches in a row. A coin toss should be used to select which team choses whether to attack or defend first in the deciding map. Teams are invited to arrange all the match servers long in advance of their matches.

Matches will begin at 19:00 CET on Wednesday 25th of October and Thursday 26th, scheduling will be extremely loose, with teams requested to start their next game as soon as their opponents are ready. Teams must play until at least 22:00 CET on Wednesday to guarantee a successful completion of the cup within two days. We request teams assistance in managing their free time during the bracket, whilst waiting for their next game. All team leaders are requested to check their email inboxes for tournament channel details

The Double Elimination Bracket can be viewed HERE, teams have been seeded from 1 to 11, and there are some BYE's for the higher seeded teams. Read more for the seeding list:

Signups close tonight at 22 GMT with the full brackets being released shortly after. So far 11 teams have signedup and we're looking for 5 more to complete the bracket and avoid BYE's in the opening rounds. The big boys are out in full force with recognisable names like idle, aMenti and zP, and with a packed field of hopeful's there is bound to be some phenominal games this Wednesday and Thursday night!

If you want to signup it costs just 10 Euros and to do so just contact [email protected] to complete your signup and get further information. The tournament will start at 19.00 CET tommorow night. Best of luck

CoD2 - iNfensus returns...sorta!

Call of Duty 1 superstars Cubic have returned to action, some of the artists formerly known as iNfensus have grouped together to form a powerful Swedish team for the upcoming WonderBase and PlayZ lans to be held in Sverige, all be it playing under the name cubic and not iNfensus!.

With an all Swedish lineup, and the obvious home soil advantage this team must instantly command respect, their names and reputation plus the lack of travel needed will aid them, however, their lack of time is going to hurt them. Cubic are as follows:

Sweden Bullovic
Sweden Slize
Sweden Lokkish
Sweden case
Sweden Toppe

Be sure to watch out for them in the coming months, and to find out more Ireland Crow has posted an introduction and interview over at CrowFrag.com

CoD2 - TeK-9 Train up!

Over at TeK-9 scarface has conducted a nice interview and introduction to CoD's hottest property. He was the Crossfire PrizeFight Challenge MVP and over all one of the most feared players on the circuit today.

QuoteI would say it started early but didn’t really develop until later. Joining Discipline changed me, Episode had a large influence in how I play now. Episode made me realise how hard it was going to be if you wanted to be the best, how much work you had to put in. Unfortunately he moved on, I joined TmG (and other names) where I would say is another extreme from what I experienced in Discipline, it was more relaxed.
