CoD4 in the pipeline

CoD3 may not have even been out that long but already the Call of Duty franchise is back in the works and the fourth installment will be for us lovely PC gamers! Posted by ampednews and read by R3dhelix the article suggests:

QuoteAccording to our source, Call of Duty 4 will be developed by Infinity Ward, the developer behind the first and second installments. The three-way deal established between Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Activision states that Infinity Ward will develop all even numbered titles while Treyarch develops the odd numbered games, such as Call of Duty 3. Treyarch did develop Call of Duty 2: Big Red One as well, however.

As aforementioned, Call of Duty 4 is said to step away from the war torn locales of World War II, instead focusing on the battlefields of present day. It is unknown if it will take the same path as Electronic Arts’ Battlefield franchise, placing the spotlight on the Middle East.

C4U scare Dignitas in i29 Final - Ferus in action!

image: 48568-47368-i29Dignitas needed the security of their home map Dawnville after Team-C4U challenged the Crossfire Champions by taking Burgundy 12-8 forcing dignitas to battle back on Dawnville.

In a game that had it all, Burgundy looked to be a haven for Dignitas who had defeated Speedlink at Crossfire lan on it. However Trainee was misfiring and the side were all over the place giving away cheap rounds on offence and defence. C4U were on hand to take advantage, with some excellent play from SoClon inparticular. Mick said after the match that the power in the UK scene was underrated and this was testament to it.

However, Dawnville being the strongest map for Dignitas they cruised forward on their defence losing just one round out of nine and followed up by picking up three straight rounds in their offence to take them to 20, needing just 1 round to win. C4U rallied under pressure with an impressive ten frags seperated by just one trademark Dales bash. Lookzor picked up a sensational 2 in 1 shotgun frag and C4U came back to put Dignitas under the cosh, but only momentarily as the European No. 1 took the final round to take the final 21-17.

Dignitas were quick to give their opponents credit in the after match and praise them for their performance. In the week they released their latest movie (played before the match), they took a stunning 4th title out of a potential 5 here at i29. They bid for their 5th Gold next in the BF2142 tournament, which they have now won leaving dignitas with 5 gold medals frmo the tournament!

Update
ET Legend Sweden Ferus is up next in the grand final of the CounterStrike Source £5000 tournament. Ferus' side Reason Gaming face Temp.css on Inferno and then Contra. Reason faced Temp earlier this morning and lost 16-0 with ferus racking up just 2 frags in the whole game, however, Markus "Ferus" Stenmark had this to say:

QuoteWe're looking forward to the finals, we expect to win on Inferno and will have a hard task on contra which is a massively crap map. I was upset with my performance in the first game, it's probably because I didnt have Night next to me to carry me to victory. However Toss, I always seem to win when you cast my games, so maybe you'll carry me here!

Luckily for Ferus this commentator hasnt seen him lose since e-star lost to Gunslingers 4-2 back in rtcw.no. Theres much work to be done but the Swede is excited to be back on lan, and will be looking to add to his Quakecon crown here in what Ferus describes as a very hot country!

Dignitas on song at i29

image: 48568-47368-i29Crossfire PrizeFight Champions, United Kingdom Dignitas are on course to cap the week of their movie release off with a £2000 cheque from the Multiplay Intel Extreme Gaming Tournament!

Dignitas however now face their biggest rival in the semi final, TmG-Mix who in one shape or another fought at Wonderbase with Dignitas last weekend now fight with them for a place in the grand final. The biggest factor of this game is the unpredictability of the competitive CoD scene right now. With defeats last weekend and the Eurocup finals, the old boy's at Dignitas must on their guard to take what should be an easy tournament.

TmG Mix come into the semi final seeded 5th and with three defeats against their name this weekend, it dosent look favourable for them going into the match against dignitas who dropped just 33 rounds out of around 140 in the group stages. C4U and 1336 complete the semi finals and 2 of these 4 will battle it out for the big bucks here in Newbury!

Dignitas made in Britain.

image: 48423-92Crossfire PrizeFight Challenge champions, Dignitas, have released their latest movie which is a slight variation on the typical fragmovie, documenting the teams progress through the iSeries event and their road to glory in Rotterdam at the Crossfire Lan.

Whilst not wishing to step on the toes of Crossfire's resident movie reviewers, this movie features a fantastic blend of pace, quality and information to make it a very enjoyable watch. The Call of Duty movie making community has been somewhat stagnant and has struggled to compete with other gaming movie scenes, however this one is right out of the top draw!

This 20 minute movie weighs in at 600mb's and is in windows media format. You can download and rate the movie Here

Carmac on CoD2 & G7

image: 45917-thumb1213463
Poland's greatest export, other than potatoes, Carmac, has written up something of a retort to this weeks earlier article on the GGL regarding the competitive future of CoD2. The lovable pole has taken his soap box out and cried status quo is the biggest problem that faces the game, saying big teams dont want it and the tournament organisers dont want it either;

QuoteAnd why exactly would the top teams not want CoD2 included in professional leagues and competitions? Before I answer this question. let me just state that it's a fact, not an opinion, that the richest teams from the G7 club will only support Warcraft 3, Counter-Strike and Quake 4.

To retain the current situation in gaming means to give the G7 teams stability. All of them have solid Counter-Strike squads that have, more or less, monopolized their respective territories. On top of that, there are few world-class Quake 4 or Warcraft 3 players that are not involved with some of the G7 teams.

He signs off with a jab at the Crossfire faithful...

"Disagree? Ask the Enemy Territory players."

GGL features CoD's future

image: logoThis week on GGL.com I wrote about CoD2 and its fight to gain recognition by the bigger gaming organisations, the SK's & Fnatic's of this world. The article debates Steam's impact on CoD2, the hectic LAN schedule and why the big teams wont bite at the CoD cherry.

Steams soon distribution of the CoD series could lead to some major changes in the titles fortunes, and many will hope a shot at the big time to at least have a small piece of the esports pie.

QuoteTeams are now having to prepare themselves for a new event once or twice a month, with ever-increasing prize pots. While CoD has yet to reach a five-figure pot, the cumulative figure is more than enough to sustain interest in the game. The beauty of it is, the game is actually good looking; its tournaments are action-packed. As a scene to follow, it’s quite intriguing, with this weekend’s 7,000-Euro Wonderbase tournament crowning the 5th new champion in five straight major events. So why don’t the protectors of CS show it some love?

Upsets at Wonderbase!

The Wonderbase tournament may have been dogged by technical problems, but one of them isnt lieing in the scoreboard department as digitalMind have soared past both serious and Dignitas.

Late into last night Europe Serious went down in a blaze to to the Netgamez champions, now powered by TeK-9 Belgium Davy. That group stage defeat saw the brackets shaped in such fashion that would see Serious face Crossfire champions, Dignitas in a winner bracket second round match. This rematch of the Eurocup grand finals, now on toujane had the hallmarks of a classic all over it, and it didnt fail to deliver. As tight as you like, 13-11 saw ET's favourite side Dignitas emerge over their rivals to face the dutch forces of dM.

However Netherlands DigitalMind werent done there, they had come a long way and in the face of expecation, overcame the odds to down Dignitas and said the tournament into frenzy! The two favourites were downed into the losers bracket and the money could have been going anywhere!

With the loser bracket ongoing the tournament was down to 4 teams with Serious fighting for their lives against the former idle team, Finland Logitech. It got all serious as the Eurocup champions bowed out to the PlayZ lan finalists in a blaze of glory, 16-14 the final score. Logitech now face Dignitas to setup a grand final against DigitalMind. Should Dignitas not win, it would be the 5th new Lan Champion in 5 straight CoD events.

Logitech (3700 Euro + Hardware)
DigitalMind (1590 Euro)
Dignitas (530 Euro)
4th Europe Serious Gaming (211 Euro)
5th/6th Sweden Fukyuu / Denmark Copenhagen (106 euro each)
