Brinkkit released

image: header

Brink received a pretty decent hype on Reddit and the community over there just released it's first official version of their own official config tool named Brinkkit.

It allows you to easily access different values on vars that have already been tested successfully. It gives you more options than the Rushed's tool especially regarding your system's performance.

Requirements:
  • Windows XP or 7 with .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
Features:
  • Actual working cvars. I didn't add cvars that don't work or aren't supported by Brink. I took time to research each cvar, verify the function and test the performance. There are other tools out right now but I was annoyed by data entry and wanted a fun project to give back to the community.
  • Auto-updating. If a new version gets dropped, you'll know when you start the application. You don't need to come back here and re-download the setup.exe ever again. One and done, gents.
  • Hosted on Amazon so it should always be available and fast. I'll accept Reddit server jokes here.
  • Fluid and efficient design. Tab order makes sense. Use keyboard shortcuts to save (ALT+S) test (ALT+T), or exit (ALT+E). Yes, that is right, you can launch the game right from the app and it'll save your settings before hand.
  • Fast updating for hardly any effort. See a bug? Message me. I can probably fix & deploy the update within minutes. This game doesn't wait.

Anderson on Intel's GameOn - Blaming the developers

image: intel_logo After previous articles once again Europe Team Dignitas is represented at Intel's GameOn website. This time with Estonia anderson (reload) speaking out what we all have in mind and posting comments on crossfire for a while on the portal where new games meet and developers should be interested in as well.

As critique on the games released in the past 2 years he is addressing the game developers for not coming up with anything worth a competitive game with a serious chance to reach a bright and long future - not a single release that has all the pc gamers need:
- competitive features
- dedicated servers
- mod & anti-cheat support
- etc.

Compared to previous beloved titles such as RtCW, Enemy Territory or Call of Duty 4 where you had have everything you need to come up with clan wars immediantly after it's release.

Quote by AndersonLet me illustrate. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the first major FPS title to introduce peer-to-peer matchmaking and that one change alone enflamed the PC community. In total, over 250 000 signatures were collected to replace the system and introduce dedicated servers. First Person Shooters (FPS) on the PC have generally always been based around dedicated servers and they form the backbone of many FPS communities. They allow users the freedom to control a variety of settings; different rule sets, player limits, custom maps, mods, etc. For me, it’s abundantly clear that, with peer-to-peer connections, competitive gaming cannot survive.

While most teams still playing in the ET winners bracket have (hopefully) found their way to a suitable bed there are still some interesting matches to follow for the late night ET addict. With both teams perhaps underperforming during their group matches, Belgium Overload versus Greece S'Agapa should be one of them. Tomorrow we will return with coverage from the Enemy Territory and Call of Duty grand finals.

ESL with 5on5 Ladder

With 96 participants in the grand opening cup the first event hosted by the worlds biggest league is on it's way with round 4 coming next. Due to the high amount of teams willing to participate in the cup, the ESL is about to start their 5on5 ladder for your daily HoN pleasure. It will be the first european league but will also allow more western or eastern teams to participate. The ESL has always been great with support regarding prize money and hardware as soon as there have been teams proven to be active and reliable to the game and the league. Once the trust and faith is here, we can look forward to some more intense competition with a major series or - when it becomes way to incredible - even with an extreme masters challenge.

Furthermore, there are a few others around you can join as well:
  • Australia CyberGamer International Ladder
Ladder is open to both international players and or teams, and we encourage you to join.

  • United States of America Xtreme Gaming League
Offers a challenge system which allows teams to battle for the top position effectively. Requires very little to sign up and is easy to use

GameReplays.org HoN Tournament announced

GameReplays.org revealed another knock out tournament for up to 32 teams to participate. Sign Ups will be open until 1st November 18.00 GMT.

For the seedings - They are going to put some trust in the PSR system by S2 Games, it will be a good way to prove how well this system works. Though, there might be some doubts about the game stats from different pub games are relevant for an official clan match, it might be a good start before teams have proven themselves.

For the rules - GameReplays.org have adapted the rules from their previous event a little. Before they are going to introduce a ladder system they will try to prove their position on them though some have been proven in different DotA leagues and a few HoN cups. Some opinions in the official HoN Forum state "those are not up to date" and "not strict enough regarding the 'backdooring' and items" - time will tell which people enjoy most in the end.

Tune In!

Competitive wise HoN receives alot of support. But not only that - There are a few videos around to bring the in game action on your screen - All of them have been casted on previous GameReplays.org Tournaments:
