No more Team Logitech

image: tlgtvc4One of the most successful Call of Duty 2 teams of the last few years,
Finland Team Logitech has today called it a day. Team Logitech is most well known for all their challenges to Netherlands Serious Gaming (digitalMind) at almost every LAN event over the past few years. Not to forget the latest CODQCUP where they were able to take down the Dutch powerhouses in the finals. They were seen as the strongest Call of Duty 2 team from Finland for the past few years.

Even though there is talk about Call of Duty 4, changes are slim to see the team kick off with their old Call of Duty 2 lineup, seeing three of their players are entering the military.

Quote by Antti "Sec" SinisaloEvery once in a while, a period of success and joy comes to an end. That is what now happens to LGT Call of Duty 2 team, who with this statement announces that they are not participating Clanbase Eurocup XV Lan finals next weekend, due to various reasons.

As an addition to this, all three, Aki "orp" Ritvanen, Joni "jonzku" Ruuskanen and Sami "sacrim" Nieminen will be starting their military service next January, and therefore there is no reason for LGT Call of Duty 2 to continue with CoD2 anymore. That is why we are announcing the closure of the Call of Duty 2 team of Logitech.fi, atleast for now. We do not know whether we will see Call of Duty 4 team in Logitech.fi or if any of the latest CoD2 players of LGT will continue their journey into the upcoming and hyped CoD4, only time will tell.

It is sad that with the promising new player, Micke "EPLO" Anker we never really got the chance to prove ourselves, and the whole Call of Duty 2 era is closing up, but who knows if you will see some of playing together in Call of Duty 4.

Untill the next time, thanks for everyone who supported us and made us who we were.

image: codqcup_291x105

Yesterday the finals of the mini CODQCUP organised by Qpad and Call of Duty.se took place between Dutch all stars Netherlands Serious Gaming and the Finnish powerhouses of Finland Team Logitech. The prize? Free tickets for the Wonderbase LAN which will take place later this year. Due to the lack of coverage for this cup on Crossfire we will begin with a rundown of this small cup involving various big teams.

Teamoxid are the champions!

Tonight the Call of Duty 2 Qpad cup July edition (organised by CallofDuty.se iin co-operation with Qpad) reached its climax. With both the losers bracket final and the grand final taking place it surely was an entertaining evening. As you could have read yesterday there where three teams left into play, The winners of the upper bracket, Sweden Teamoxid, and in the lower brackets we had Finland Team Logitech and Czech Republic eSuba.

The losers bracket final was an amazing match with these two well known teams facing each other for the first time since a while. Normal playtime wasn't enough to decide the better out of these two teams, which ended in a draw. However after some overtime rounds eSuba took the lead, and the victory shortly after.

Czech Republic eSuba [16:13] Finland Team Logitech

The CODQCUP progressed with the Grand Final between Teamoxid and eSuba. Yesterday the swedes were able to take home a quite confident win taking 13 rounds versus the 6 rounds taken by Team Logitech, would the score be different today? Well, eSuba put in a great effort, but it wasn't enough. The match was at match point, 12-10 in favor of the Team Oxid guys, while Team Logitech were able to take one more point at that time making the score 12-11 still in favor of Team Oxid. This time the Swedes stepped up and took the last round home in an impressive way, having takes down four out of five eSuba players without losing any of their own.

Grand finale:
Sweden Teamoxid [13:11] Czech Republic eSuba

This was the last CODQCUP for a while, while the future for CoD2 is reaching a deciding face with some major LANs still left before the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Tonight we will see the winner bracket final take place between the Swedes and the Czech. The losing team will face Team Logitech in the losers bracket finals tomorrow. After that the winner of the Winners bracket will face the winner of the losers bracket to decide which team wins the CODQCUP July edition.

Team Oxid have had a surprisingly strong season, taking down teams such as the new Slovenia infused Gaming (former Evolve Gaming, winners of the CODQCUP June edition), German top team komaCrew and the Dutch powerhouses of Netherlands H2k.Qpad earlier in the winner bracket.

However their opponent is strong as well, winners of the CODQCUP April edition and Czech Call of Duty 2 pride, Czech Republic eSuba. Their opponents in the previous matches this month include strong names such as Germany High FiDelity and countrymen Czech Republic inteRaction.

CODQCUP: July edition

image: codqcup_291x105

CallofDuty.se and Qpad are proud to present the 6th installment of the Call of Duty Qpad Cup, the CODQCUP July edition. Last season well known teams such as United Kingdom Team Dignitas, Finland Insignia Cadre, Finland Team Logitech.fi and Netherlands Serious Gaming competed, however the June edition was surprisingly won by Slovenia Evolve Gaming (now Infused Gaming).

In the upcoming days the prizepool and the participating teams in the CODQCUP will be announced, at the moment strong teams such as France The Last Resort, Finland Team Logitech.fi Belgium defuseKids and United Kingdom Reason Gaming have already announced to participate in this months CODQCUP. This seasons CODQCUP might possibly serve as a prequel to the TeK-9 Outpost on Fire LAN #2 at the end of this month, with the strongest teams of Europe most likely competing in both.

It has been said that the CODQCUP July edition might be the last online tournament organised by CallofDuty.se for now, concentrating on the Dataparty and Wonderbase events later this year. Also with Call of Duty 4 coming out arround the end of 2007 or the beginning of 2008 the need for a large open online competition such as the CODQCUP might not be needed anymore (Wonderbase with their slogan "The last large LAN before CoD4. Death comes to Borås, Sweden in August" reveals the expected).

Finnish versus Dutch pride

image: cod2ecxvaj5

For the past few months Finland Team Logitech.fi has kept a strong presence in the Call of Duty 2 scene, most of the time only the Dutch players of Netherlands Serious Gaming have been able to stop the Finnish force from gaining the first place in any competition. Tonight the Finnish powerhouses will face a Dutch team in the ClanBase EuroCup XV Winners bracket, however we're not talking about Serious but the second strong team The Netherlands has to offer.. Netherlands H2k.Qpad, which has been performing very well recently by tossing the favorites for a top 3 position Europe TeK-9 into the losers bracket.

The match will also be broadcasted by TGBF (video + audio stream).

evolve gaming wins CODQCUP!

Another month gone by, another CODQCUP gone by. This season we saw strong teams like United Kingdom Team Dignitas, Finland Logitech.fi, Netherlands Serious Gaming, Czech Republic eSuba, Germany High Fidelity, Finland Insignia Cadre and a lot more of the top teams Call of Duty 2 has to offer right now. Yet it was the relatively unknown Slovenia evolve gaming climbing up the loser bracket (after being tossed in it in the first winner bracket round already) and facing Team Dignitas in the CODQCUP finals.

Evolve had to do the almost impossible, beat Dignitas twice. However they ended up victorious in their clashes versus HFD, Logitech.fi and Serious earlier in the cup. The clash took place in France, on the maps Dawnville and Burgundy.

The end results of the match:
mp_burgundy: Slovenia Evolve Gaming 13-10 United Kingdom Team Dignitas
mp_dawnville: Slovenia Evolve Gaming 13-7 United Kingdom Team Dignitas

We at Crossfire would like to congratulate Evolve Gaming for their awesome performance in the CODQCUP, only losing versus France Coming Soon in the first round of the winner bracket.
