Excello 64 Player Warsow Cup

image: 53_bigIt's the flavour of the year! With the huge surge of players picking warsow up is already enough to justify a cup, the lack of critisism for a game aimed at electronic sports is indeed very rare. Although there are some Minor changes to be made to the game but overall it's size, availability and community are encouraging the rest to atleast try this game.

Excello are always looking to repay the community and with the success of our last Excello Quake4 invite cup accompanied by the fact that alot of our members picking up this game and playing for fun it only fuelled our descision to create this cup. At the moment it's a one time thing but if it proves to be a success then we may be holding more community cups for Warsow.

Steelseries a dedicated supporter of teamexcello, will be associated with the tournament as always, and we will be providing a Steelpad 5L, it is indeed a small prize but it's the biggest ever prize for warsow yet!!!

The Cup is public, but we invited 3 players who accepted the chance to play, Netherlands Vo0, recently retired pro gamer will be playing in this cup along with Bulgaria K0Li0 and United Kingdom tom.

The Excello Warsow Community Cup (EWCC) will start Friday the 23rd at 6pm BST with TGS providing a shoutcast, participants are still welcome!

Information can be found here or visit #excello.warsow

Another Tigger Behind The Trigger

By now, you’ve no doubt read the journal, downloaded the movie, watched it twice and cooked tea! Nevertheless, as promised - I give you “Another Tigger Behind The Trigger.”

Oh, the wonderful thing about Tiggers is,
Tiggers are wonderful chaps.
They're loaded with vim and vigor.
They love to leap in your lap.
They're jumpy, bumpy, clumpy, thumpy,
Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun!
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is ...
III'm the only one!

Addicted To Gaming?

Coming to a clinic near you July ‘06. Crazed teenagers grasping for their keyboards, craving that one last flick of their mouse. Smith & Jones of Amsterdam, Holland will be opening a 24 hours a day treatment clinic for those requiring help.

Dictionary.com declares that addicted means “To occupy (oneself) with or involve (oneself) in something habitually or compulsively” - sound familiar? Is logging onto your computer the first thing you do in the morning, and the last thing at night? Many gamers spend hours mesmerised in front of their monitors.

It can cause problems in their real life, neglecting friends, family and partners - screwing up sleeping patterns negatively effecting a persons job or school work.

Our ClanBase admin in exile Netherlands Cash conducted a small interview with Keith Baker, Director of Smith & Jones who states that “game addicts show such symptoms of sweating and shaking, quite similar to what heavy gamblers undergo during treatment” and that gamers “should be completely removed from their gaming environment.”

Could you go completely cold turkey? Remove yourself from IRC, Xfire, gaming and the internet in general? Remember kids, the first step in curing an addiction is recognizing that you have a problem.

Public Service Announcement

image: wff-white-morris-150What fine rhetoric shall I throw at you today? ETTV Sunday, nah the days passed, Eurocup Monday? Nah not good enough - this is a BANK HOLIDAY BONANZA of ETTV goodness. (Think Cilit Bang on ecstasy)

First out the paddock are our front runners, the Italian stallion takes an early lead but can he make it by the Finnish line? Just off the pace our reliable German duo, neck 'n neck - closely followed by the boys in blue - maybe I should stfu? As usual Warleagues lags behind, slow out the blocks.

Back to normality -> (it's a bank holiday here)

Warleagues Alpha gets the action underway, a critical match pitting 1st vs. 2nd. Granted they've all yet to play a match. Will opening day nerves get the better of them? Tune in to find out.

Onto the games that matter. Germany FlyingDJ and Netherlands stewie once again pair up to bring us Germany team riZe vs. Germany one4one. You can't emphasise the importance of this tie, with the loser unlikely to progress to the playoff stages. Both teams have played their opening two matches, one4one beating both singularity and underscore - whilst riZe beat singularity, only to surprisngly lose against current leaders cZar. riZe entered this tournament as second favourites, only a fool would underestimate 'em.

Next up sharing the same time slot as above is a clash over in Group A, between the whipping boys of this EC. Neither team, to date, has picked up a win. Finland cdap have an outside chance of progressing through to the playoffs whilst Europe maybe an impossibility. Them folding is imminent?

Eurocup Tonight - Kujuneb vs. sFx Evil

ONE of the rum things about football is the way that the very best are so often the most beautiful. The most effective way of playing football so often pleases us, not only because it works supremely well, but because it also thrills us with its beauty…we are all gonna be watching the football right?

Apparently not. For the select (weird) few that decide against, Gamestv.org & ClanBase have once again teamed up to provide you with the very best Enemy Territory has to offer. Finland vs. Estonia, sFx Evil vs. kujuneb - the NC consolation final that never was.

The highly anticipated return of “rifle nading supreme” r3vers has proved somewhat anticlimactic, as kujuneb have looked awful so far this season. A defeat to Polewka in the opening week leaves them languishing at the bottom of Group C. And the recent defection of Estonia asd only compounds what has been a miserable few weeks for them.

sFx Evil however, seem to be hitting form. Recently overpowering Polewka in their opening encounter, and although losing to Team Helix, have since had that result overturned and awarded a victory thanks to the actions of United Kingdom razz. Meaning sFx Evil are your current Group C leaders, having played 2 won 2 - needing just one more win to guarantee a playoff spot.

As ever the FlyingDJ will be on hand to provide another excellent shoutcast.

Last night Estonia idle.ee where the first team to secure their place in the playoffs thanks to a comfortable 4 0 win over Sweden noll8.

In related news, there‘s a scandal brewing - CB admin United Kingdom Adacore was recently photographed wearing a demiurge shirt…

League Statements Regarding razz

Having consulted their Cheating and Abuse section the ClanBase admins have finally released an official statement regarding razz. Spain DoneX writes:

QuoteFollowing reports that EuroCup player United Kingdom razz was or is currently using external disallowed hacks, ClanBase has issued a full permanent player ban. The use of such tactics to improve gameplay is strictly prohibited by ClanBase regardless of whether or not it is during an official match.

As per ClanBase rules, razzs participation in any ClanBase league or cup is forbidden. Clans fielding disallowed or banned players are themselves liable to permanent bans and removal from ClanBase competitions.

While Europe Team - Helix will remain in the EuroCup as razz himself was considered a player and not a senior member or leader, all matches involving razz will be forfeited. Helixs clanleader has complied with ClanBase in removing razz from their lineup.

This means that Finland sFx Evil will take a forfeit 1 0 victory in Group C, leaving helix joint bottom having played one match.

We advise any players unsure about the legality of a tweak or external program to contact a ClanBase admin for clarification, you should always be under the presumption that a program isn’t allowed - and risk being banned if you use it. Ignorance is never an excuse.

Update:

Team Helix are currently competing in the Premier Division of Warleagues Season VI. They have echoed the sentiments of ClanBase and issued razz with a permanent ban from all competitions. All matches involving razz for Team Helix are now defaulted.

This is an extract from a news post over at Warleagues:

QuoteWe would like to point out that cheaters will get a permanent ban on Warleagues, without further discussion. Team Helix clan has been informed that they can still participate in the Cup as razz himself has been kicked from the clan.

Further more, the game Team Helix vs Tank Thirty Four in Season VI where razz was fielded, Tank Thirty Four gets a def. win 0-2 instead of the 2-0 for Team Helix as Warleagues states that recent games where the cheating player was fielded, get a def. win for the other team!

Update:

Team Helix has also been competing in the ESL, with their match versus Germany vae recently televised live on GIGA TV. ESL head admin has released this statement regarding razz.

QuoteTeam Helix and Vicious and Evil played one of the most important matches for the ET Scene 2 weeks ago. Since drago told me, to make some punkbusterscreenshots of razz on this game, I made them and published them to him and the esl admin team.
In this official, razz didn't use any tools for a better optic. The ESL hx team is not effected in any point of the stupid acts of his player, cause there was no point of prove in the official matches at the ESL. Razz recived a barrage for his cheats and is banned for the upcoming years in the ESL.

In Game ET:QuakeWars Footage

Over on esreality United States of America RogerR1 of Planetquake.net has posted a video recording live from E3.

QuoteThis 6 minute High Definition movie will give you a never before seen glimpse into real ET: QuakeWars gameplay, not some pre-rendered demo video. You will see medics handing out health and engineers repairing tanks along with many other cool gameplay aspects.

As you’ve most likely already seen from our man on the ground over at E3… ‘just in from TosspoT: “The TosspoT ET Quakewars verdict: ET:Quakewars officially not for the ET community.” We’re promised a more detailed review shortly

Eurocup Sunday

She be back! That’s right guys, it’s the return of ETTV Sunday. A critically acclaimed night set aside for nothing more than lounging around in front of your pc. Never one to disappoint the Gamestv staff will be providing over 400 ETTV slots for your viewing pleasure.

Kicking off the action at 20:00 CET sees former Team Hungary & T4Ce (minus Future) underscore taking on one4one. Neither team has impressed lately and this is seemingly too close to call. My prediction skills failing me I looked to a Magic 8 Ball, asking it who would win, he replied “It is decidedly so”. Make of that what you will.

Match Of The Night

Finland Demiurge vs. Spain Azure Fate

Time: 20:30 CET
Maps: Braundorf_b4 & sw_goldrush_te
ETTV: #Gamestv.org
Competition: EC Group D

Tonight sees only the second outing of the much touted Finish team Demiurge as they take on the all Spanish roster of Azure Fate. Neither team has “officially” met before, though the remnants of the Spanish team that lost 3 1 to Finland in last seasons Nationscup make up the bulk of the Azure roster.

Unlike Demiurge Azure have been active of late, recently reaching the final of the ET-Cup. Though the idle team taught Winghaven a few things about spawn rape…

One To Watch: Sweden LoTiX (aka GODCHILD)

We then head over to Group C where sFx Evil look to prove they’re worth the direct invite. Their opponents ranked by some as outside favourites, Team Helix. Group C is arguably the most open group and a good start is a must.

Finally we end with Estonia kujuneb vs. Poland Polewka, another encounter in Group C. How will the all Estonian roster of kujuneb deal with the potent force of Poland kot? This gets underway at 21 CET, you can find ETTV information here.

Be sure to tune in from 8 and check back here for updates.

Exploit In Quake 3 Engine

A reported hack has been publicly released which allows serverhosts with bad intentions to take over a users computer. It grants the hacker full access to your pc - with Punkbuster currently forcing players to have admin rights whilst playing.

This exploit effects all Quake 3 engine games, including Quake 3, Enemy Territory and RTCW.

Cash on the GGL site explains that:
QuoteTechnically, the leak creates a unsuspicious "boundary error" when sending malformed messages from the gameserver to a client during the remapShader process. Once a buffer overflow occurs, the computer is fully exposed to any type of activities.

It does not require a user to download anything from the server, the serverhost simply has to run the script.

ETPlayers Compete In ESWC Qualifiers

This weekend everyone’s favourite Belgian, and ET prodigal son will battle it out for a place in the ESWC proper held at Paris, France.

After his performance at the pre-qualifiers mAx has been seeded second in the competition, just behind GUNK starlet Impulse. He went unbeaten during the pre-qualifiers, beating fellow ET legend ganon in the final. Due to the nature of his seeding mAx will advance straight to the quarter finals. With his first mach against the winner of Belgium Ref vs. Belgium dromer.

Although having lost his ClanBase EuroCup XIII Qualifier against Netherlands weird in double overtime mAx remains confident. Blaming his defeat on nerves alone.

Kreaturen Belgium Ganon will also be competing this weekend - with his first match against the relatively unknown player Belgium sway.

The winner will earn an invite to the Palais Omnisports, Paris from June 30th till July 2nd 2006 where they’ll compete against names such as former Quake3 champion Russia cooller.

We’ll keep you updated as the tournament progresses.
